You are doing the absolutely correct thing in my opinion. Get them running and enjoy them! Sure, there are things that you will want to do to a project car, hence the name, "project". However those can be planned and done over time. Well done, sir!
yea that's a big problem, a lot of people get their expectations to high then give up or leave it sit instead of just fixing them up and just enjoy the process of making it run.
Well said! This 72 YO guy has been wrenching on his own cars since since 1968. I say drive and enjoy the car and make small improvements as time and money allow. I've seen way too many guys take a running car and take it all apart and then loose momentum and it sits for 30 years and is never finished.
That 235 oil bath six was not bad but you gotta go with at least front disc brakes…safety!! My 56 210 with that six would roll thru stops even with an early stop at low speed. But yes, have fun.
drum brakes will stop that car up to seventy miles per hour. they just must be repaired CORRECTLY. I recomend finding a 6 cyl HEI ignition. Chevy used them in later years. and eveyone has them laying around. a very good gas filter. that six will outrun a 283 to 70 mph, just ask me how I know. called more low end torque. If you want a cam, live with it. you will not like it in a daily driver. Use your money own small stuff like BALL JOINTS, SHOCKS, AND TIE ROD ENDS. Those things will make it drive like a new one. Enjoy.
Very nice good topics
Appreciate the watch!

Respectfully disagree for my purpose. The brakes work GREAT on this car. It never exceeds 45 mph though. All depends on purpose of the vehicle
@ yes sir!
