Two things can be true at the same time: Seinfeld is an iconic New York comedian and a staple of ‘90s humor, AND also sadly has become the type to say schmucky things in his old age.
We need to do a study on what happened to comedians from the 90s. Dave Chappelle, Bill Maher, Roseanne Barr, the South Park guys, now Jerry. All have become anti-woke hacks
It's people who just cant stand being called out. Their money and anger used to save them, but now it's social media and wide callouts. Jerry is a perfect example of wtf. No one really talked about his 38-17 relation, he was generally liked, and everyone had enjoyed his show. I guess he got heckled maybe that I've never even seen? Or he's just literally angry that people are being called out. And Israel I guess, but he could've just stfu. His fault. They all are. They replaced emotions with money, and it -buys- bought them comfort from anyone who will make them feel bad.
I disagree with the libertarian philosophy, but the last SP I saw was the satire "Panderverse". It was a critique of the shallow, hypocritical trend in corporate Hollywood to remake films with character diversity rather than create original work that has natural character diversity depending on what an original script calls for. The trend is disingenuous, patronizing, lazy and ridiculous. SP is just as clever and funny as ever, and much better than anything Seinfeld has ever done.
Bill Maher has always had some pretty sh.t opinions. Dave Chappelle’s comedy was always for the most part pretty low brow and South Park has always had a nihilist message. I am not surprised by any of those people’s opinions as their turns were minimal (If any) Roseanne Barr is one I really can’t explain. She basically lost her mind it seems.

@@VincentTroiaHe's successful, but not Larry David successful. Sienfield, and eventually Crub, have both become cultural touchstones. @@jewscoHe purposely made the show so the other stars shine. Most people who have a sitcom named after them are the main star. Seinfeld was smart enough to know he isn’t a great actor (his terrible acting actually makes it funnier because it’s so over the top) that it’s the ultimate ensemble show. Seinfeld has no star as EVERY character is great, including guest stars. He knew to only use Newman, The Costanzas, his parents in a few episodes so they dont get overexposed. Every show is about George, Jerry, Elaine, and Kramer and it all ties together. Are you telling me Jerry’s stories are that bad? When he steals the marble rye and says, “Give me it you old bag!” and starts running is hilarious. I think you don’t understand what makes Seinfeld the best sitcom ever. Jerry put his ego aside and understood how to make the greatest ensemble show.
@@chrisolivo6591 I didn't say it and he weren't popular. I said the show wasn't funny. Just because something is popular and makes money, doesn't mean it's good. Even a top show only has the attention of a small sliver of the population.
The final year of Seinfeld was abysmal compared to the previous years. The last episode was a huge letdown and completely not funny .I heard that Larry David had left the show the year prior. That explains everything, doesn't it?
This is similar (on it’s surface) to the right wing reaction to DeNiro. Many people, conservatives included, watched and enjoyed DeNiro’s movie roles. But,since the speech in New York, the hatred towards him has become immeasurable. I’m old so,I remember Seinfeld doing actual stand-up spots when he was younger and yes,he was funny. Seinfeld had a top rated television show for years so,plenty of viewers must’ve thought it to be humorous. I can understand how supporters of basic humanity and dignity of life disagree with his opinions and find him unfunny, now, but just as DeNiro is an award winning actor Seinfeld WAS funny earlier in his career.
I just watched the Elephant Graveyard video about Jerry and a great point was brought up that I feel perfectly explains this. First, understanding that Jerry's absolute worst nightmare is bombing and irrelevance, all he wants is to stay relevant, and considering that his entire brand is observational humor, you can see how maintaining relevance is important. However, considering that the guy is a billionaire hermetically sealed away from normal people and life in general, he has completely lost the ability to genuinely understand life for modern everyday people. So, what does he do? “Uhhh, uuhhhh… COFFEE! People like coffee! I hear that that’s what people like. Let’s do a thing about that.” “Tell me one thing about coffee.” “Oooh, I don’t know, the King of France once served me coffee from the navel of a Martian Sand Whale.”
Exactly, it's like he might as well just respond to her question with "My favorite coffee is the one my butler serves me every morning." But even in his Seinfeld days, his observations weren't funny. At least I never laughed at any, maybe I missed the one or two okay standup jokes out of nine seasons from a show that serves better as background noise than something I'd actually actively watch.
The way you guys have descended into the personal vilification of anybody who disagrees with you politically really makes you have a lot in common with the Trumpies.
Please don’t be this cringe. You can criticize someone’s viewpoints and not have to pretend that ‘He’s never been funny'. He changed comedy and he changed television. Does anybody think he caught that Bari laughed BEFORE the punchline and when the actual punchline hits she stays silent? First college campuses and now Bari Weiss. So woke.🙄

Larry slamming a door is funnier than any Seinfeld bit I've ever heard.
No never. Larry David was the brains. “What’s the deal with airline food” is not getting it done. He was liked by networks because he was “marketable and family friendly” even though he was hooking up with a 17 year old when he was in his 30s.

SP is just as clever and funny as ever, and much better than anything Seinfeld has ever done.
they haven't become anything, they are the same as they always were.
Bill Maher has always had some pretty sh.t opinions.
Dave Chappelle’s comedy was always for the most part pretty low brow and South Park has always had a nihilist message. I am not surprised by any of those people’s opinions as their turns were minimal (If any)

@@VincentTroiaHe's successful, but not Larry David successful. Sienfield, and eventually Crub, have both become cultural touchstones. The works have been forever woven into the cultural fabric of our society, until the threads lose colour and fray.
But Jerry's stuff? Not even close man. Like the bee movie only maintains relevancy thanks to its absurdly bad comedy. People aren't laughing with the bee movie with its opening script. They are laughing at it. The romance has been atomized by the sheer finger pointing, and only recently has he admitted to its absurdity. (You can check old interviews btw, he doesn't lean into that as heavily). And the car show? How has that penetrated into the broader media? Seinfeld has no star as EVERY character is great, including guest stars. He knew to only use Newman, The Costanzas, his parents in a few episodes so they dont get overexposed. Seinfeld was a reasonably funny comedian with a clean standup act that worked perfectly in the 80’s and 90’s but tastes changed.
He still sells out with audiences of all ages. How did tastes change?
The funniest thing he's done is Seinfeld and he was the least funny character on it.
It’s the narcissism of small differences IMHO.
Let’s do a thing about that.”
“Tell me one thing about coffee.”
“Oooh, I don’t know, the King of France once served me coffee from the navel of a Martian Sand Whale.”
Its just so much fluff.
