I’m a year late but as I was watching this show I was so amazed at how all the men were more than just 1 Dimensional characters that they actually had a range of emotions
This was beautifully well done by Dom and Matthew. I just love when two men who aren't afraid just be all touching and feeling with one another. They have amazing chemistry with one another.

This scene broke me the way Jace was feeling and the fact that he thought that he was going to lose his brother and the way he almost cried because he knew that he needed him in my opinion Jace and Alec have a strong brother bond in Shadowhunters and it really touches me to see them as real brothers because Alec even in the books is all Jace had growing up and he WAS his family and brother maybe not by blood but by bond 😢❤️

Her acting was soo bad tho. If my sister was dying in front of my eyes i would lay on the ground crying. She didnt even have tears in the shot at 2:05... really ruined it for me.
I agree! That single tear that slid down Clary's cheek at 1:36 was ten times more emotion than Isabelle had. And at this point in the story I think Clary's only known Alec for a total of ten or so days.
that's because isabelle isn't a mundane like clary. remember in earlier episodes they said shadowhunters were brought up and taught to control their emotions so maybe that's why she's so "heartless" in this scene, but let's be honest, she cares about alec just as much as jace but her personality just doesn't seem like the type to show it that's all :)
we all knew alec wasn't going to die, but the editing of the parabatai ceremony cutting back to jace reciting it makes me bawl my fucking eyes out. never cried harder in my life
I love the difference between how the flashback Jace said the first line and how current Jace said it. Flashback was arrogant and entitled in the way he said it, but current Jace had so much pain and emotion behind the one line. I guess it felt like flashback wanted the bond and felt like he deserved it, while current NEEDED it for his very heart to beat and there's something about that difference that really speaks to me about how much Alec means to Jace and depends on him. So much of their bond seems to focus on how important Jace is to Alec it's nice to see that it goes both ways.
Such an amazing scene .. every piece of this scene felt like it was put together with such careful consideration down to the details ...From the use of the music which is subtle but haunting to the use of imagery and flashbacks which beautifully illustrated the bond these two share and finally to the incredible acting . The emotional vulnerability shared in this scene was just amazing especially when you consider the characters of Jace and Alec and how both of them .. Are very guarded usually with their emotions because of what they are , the lifestyle they live which is these strong stoic warriors fighting to protect and keep their world safe ... And you just get a sense in the world of shadow hunting It is almost considered a cardinal sin for them to show weakness , emotion and love to some degree and that makes this scene truly amazing .. It humanized the characters because in this life or death moment it was as if everything they were going thru just disappeared and both of them just gave in and allowed emotion to pour out ... It felt like this scene was a liberation of the soul the heart . The way they held on to each other crying ....you could feel in this scene the incredible bond the love these two have for one another . They are truly brothers . A bond that will not be broken . Hands down my favorite scene from the show so far .
I just realised after watching at least 5 times that Alec actually was stuck in his memories with Jace. That's why when part of his soul is being pulled back by Jace, the memory him stopped saying the oath and acting strange. Gosh took me long enough. It's so beautiful 😭
we don't talk enough about the music when Alec answers to Jace. that was heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time, they clearly have the best friendship in the show

This scene was made so much stronger when you remember the absolute hell Jace went through to escape Valentine and get back to Alec just because he found out Alec was dying.
Clary tapping Magnus's side and then him taking her hand makes my heart swell, they're both witnessing a super moving moment for both of their boys and they were both so scared of losing Alec
