One of my favourite songs. When Neil performs, its like a revival rally. you go home feeling good and uplifted. Thats the mark of genius and true artiste
20 years after his passing I can still remember my dad listening to Neil Diamond every day. 99% of the time this would be the first song that he would listen to. Thanks for the memories.
My sons brought me 2 tickets for his show @ Madison Square Garden 10 yrs ago as a birthday gift. 2 hours of entertainment non stop. Greatest performer of our time. So sad that now he will not be touring due to Parkinson's. He will be sorely missed but his music will always be here
Hot August Night, my folks album, couldn't have been 10, couldnt stop playing it. Saw him live twice. A truly amazing songwriter and professional. He never sold his soul.

Just got to see my Mother and Father laughing and dancing in the kitchen to this song..... God rest their wonderful shining souls. Thank you for the memories!!
I miss my dad so much, everytime I listen to Neil I have great memories of riding around with my dad and we both would sing out loud with the windows down. ❤

Saw him in the mid-70s in Birmingham, Alabama...a 3-hour concert, and have never seen another concert by anyone that even came close. The gold standard...still listen to him all the time!
My first concert we Me Neil Diamond I was 16 years old. To day I am 57 year old he is my favorite singer of all time. we need to keep this music alive.
I was lucky to have been taken to these concerts since I was in diapers. .. then I was the crazy 8 month crazy pregnant lady dancing. Three generations loving next these songs!
I've always loved this song. I appreciate Neil just singing it out with real love and respect for the people who did this kind of work. What an incredible talent! Another New Yorker gifted by God with song.
I liked this song when it first came out, and Once Upon A Time in Hollywood reminded me of it. I'm an atheist, but still find the song entertaining, inspiring and invigorating.
@TheTruthIsRacist what a ridiculously judgemental and ignorant thing to say. Maybe people have seen the film, enjoyed hearing Neil Diamond singing it again (or for the first time even) and have just come here to see him performing it. Nothing more, nothing less, just the pleasure of hearing and seeing Neil Diamond doing one of his great songs.

Murray Dickson so how was this concert marketed - did it say it was a TV set for a cable special, or was it just marketed as a concert? Did it seem to be 'stocked' with celebrities and younger people like biographers have noted?

On this day in 1969 {March 22nd} Neil Diamond performed "Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time the song was at #49 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, five weeks later it would peak at #22 {for 2 weeks} and it spent thirteen weeks on the Top 100... It reached #5 on the New Zealand's RIANZ Music chart... Between 1966 and 1988 the Brooklyn, NY native had fifty-seven Top 100 records; thirteen made the Top 10 with three reaching #1, "Crackin' Rosie" for 1 week in 1970, "Song Sung Blue" for 1 week in 1972, and "You Don't Bring Me Flowers", with Barbra Streisand, for 1 week in 1978... He just missed having a fourth #1 record when his "Love On the Rocks" peaked at #2* {for 3 weeks} in 1981... Plus he almost had three more records make the Top 10 when "Play Me", "If You Know What I Mean", and "Yesterday's Songs", all peaked at #11... Neil Leslie Diamond celebrated his 77th birthday two months ago on January 24th {2018}... * The three weeks that "Love On the Rocks" was at #2, the #1 record for those three weeks was "(Just Like) Starting Over" by John Lennon...
I first listened to this album, Hot August Night and I went to the concert and met my husband that night. Two years later we married. We were married for forty eight years and listened to Hot August Night every day. I played it at his funeral. I knew he would like that.
Thanks for the reply and I'm very sorry for your loss... My wife's favorite song is Mr. Diamond's "You Don't Bring Me Flowers"... Oh, my by the way, her name is Joan and come this Nov. 16th we'll be married fifty years... Thanks again...
Born and raised in SOUTH Georgia I’ve seen these traveling religious shows before and Neil has got it the way it was to a T. It’s really a Christian rock festival where it seems everyone gets the Holy Ghost and shouts it out. I often thought to myself- just don’t pass around the poisonous snakes or duck my head underwater or I’m out of here! lol...
This was a little before my time but my dad was a huge Niel Diamond fan and had him playing the car. He had a good voice and always singing along. I bought a Niel Diamond cassette tape when my parents got divorced as his voice reminded me of my dad. But back the the point. Niel is a flawless artist and always has been. Read his biography on his The Bang Years album. This star didnt have it easy but he rose to the top despite the struggles.
Una canción con un sentido muy religioso. Ambos Cristianos y judíos estamos esperando al Mesías. Con gran respeto hizo el gran Neil Diamond que estemos unidos esperando al Mesías.
To my friend Barbara, Hope you're in Heaven with your version of "Mother Loves traveling Salvation Show"..... I will be dancing here in the living room in your Honor!
No he never converted. He wrote this song as an artistic representation of a "tent revival". He also has done two Christmas LP's as have several Jewish singers.
+joni greenwood he's agnostic, like most people if they're really honest with themselves. Something is probably out there, but you don't really know and neither does anybody else.
Still watching, listening and loving him August 2024♥️👍🎼

What an unbelievable tribute to gospel preachers and gospel music. !! Unbelievable!
This song was the turning point when Neil Diamond became a performer instead of a singer
God, this man's voice resonates with the soul. It's enough to convert anyone.
His voice is amazing , he's still a proud Jewish man 💛

Love this version. The energy. The sermon. Just great
