I think that whoever sings this song and means what it says is singing it beautifully no matter who they are! But, everyone is entitled to their opinion on who they think sings it best! The fact that the song is still being sung is the best thing!
On this day in 1972 {January 22nd} the Hilltop Singers performed "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand'... Two months earlier on November 27th, 1971 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #13 and spent 12 weeks on the Top 100... Was written by McCann Erickson as a 'Coca-Cola' commercial... Also covered in 1971 by The New Seekers; their version reached #7 on the Top 100... R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...
You're so wrong - Keith Potger of THE Seekers set up the TNS,(clue in the name there) originally as Keith Potger &TNS to fill a void that THE Seekers left when disbanded - same harmonies (arranged by Keith). The man in the know is of course Keith Potger who is proud of TNS & rightly so,he recruited them to replace the Seekers. Strangely enough, TNS featured gospel, folk, country and pop hits in their repertoire - exactly like Original Group and were meant to be a direct replacement. Peace Nic!
Thanks for the history lesson! What I said was that TNS really were not trying to BE The Seekers, that was never the idea...in Keith words...TNS would do what The Seekers did and then more. I value both groups and of course appreciate all which Keith did. As you say..Peace...Nic ( NS Manager)
The world need to be populated with the kind of people who can relate to this kind of music...but looking at what’s going on today, that thought is way too idealistic - what a pity!
I'm at a loss. I never knew of "The New Seekers". I thought they were the same one with The Seekers from Australia. As a kid I had a huge crush with that girl led singer who sang Hey There Georgie Girl. She was very beautiful even in black and white tv and her voice was just so amazing. So anyone can tell me if this band is related to the Seekers, perhaps there younger sister and borthers?
No, they have not retired at all. Judith released 2 new albums last year and several re-release of her A&M albums and early jazz albums, i bleieve a total of 6 albums were released in 2012 by Judith and there are more to come from her this year. The Seekers as a whole are just Celebrating their 50th Golden Jubilee this year with a compilation album of their greates hits and 2 new songs which you can see on youtube. They also have a national tour going on in Oz this year! See facebook for detail
I'd like to buy the world some Coke...and snort it up with love..in Apple trees with Honey Bees they call it snow white turtle dove...Now that's the song I was hearing in the 70's..Not that I ever did coke..at least the coke I had involved the whole straw. ; )
The New Seekers were formed by original Seeker, Australian Keith Potger who arranged much of the NS songs. The line-up of the best version of the group were Paul Layton (England), Marty Kristian (Australia), Eve Graham (Scotland), Lyn Paul (England) who replaced Sally Graham and Peter Doyle (Australia). However, just to complicate matters, this is not that original line-up, apart from Paul Layton on bass. Hope that clears things up, but to help have a listen to the 'real' group and you'll notice the difference.
Fortunately. You're wrong. The Seekers are all alive, well and performing. Judith has just released multiple albums and is embarking on an Australian solo tour. In the meantime, there are hints of plans for a 50th anniversary Seekers event...
This is not the group that recorded the song - this is a different group. Not Eve Graham, not any of them. I have the album and their picture - and, they don't sing the arrangement the same way either.
really not sure why I'm bothering to reply to you as I can't be bothered arguing with you. We all have our faves and this line up of TNS had many admirers and made many people happy, that's what mattered. Incidentally the line up which you mentioned were not the original NS line up but any NS line up never tried to be the Seekers, they weren't meant to be,
That's not Eve Graham singing - the one singing lead in the original single, the first one you see in the infamous so-called "Hilltop" Coca-Cola commercial.
I wish people would come out singing this song now we really need to make it a national anthem. So I look around and I don't see anybody happy at all! Except maybe Donald Trump because he's the one that caused all this s***.
I did think of something original to say Nic, please do not come on here and act like the conversation police. If u do not respect my post ok, I am entitled to my opinion
Since you asked - not very fabulous at al. The harmonies are off key and not near the original New Seekers with Eve Garham, Lyn Paul, Marty, Peter and Paul. Then before that were THE Seekers - never to be beaten by any later copycat performers because they didn't have Judith Durham!!
Out of curiosity, why did you feel the need to add such a vile comment? Did it make you feel like a big boy? To add insult, a silly smile too. Clearly you have no regard for other people which is a concern!

What a lovely comment thank you x
to Nic Scott: thank you for your lovely comment. Marie
Still sounding absolute brill!
Trolls are great to listen to, doesn't take long for the insults to start from faceless people who do not listen to someone else's opinion!
Look at the clothes 😍 I had flared trousers

I’m so missing Lyn and Eve!
Not the same without Eve's beautiful voice :(
Or Lyn's for that matter!
Lyn had the best voice
Lynn's was raunchy. I could ravish her anyday 💞💗💓💕🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️

I remember this song being used in a coca cola commercial.
I'd like to buy the world some Coke...and snort it up with love..in Apple trees with Honey Bees they call it snow white turtle dove...Now that's the song I was hearing in the 70's..Not that I ever did coke..at least the coke I had involved the whole straw. ; )
@micropickletwo Correction... The Seekers ARE Judith Durham, Bruce Woodley, Athol Guy, and Mr. Twelve String, Keith Potger...
Why is everyone arguing?
Eve and Lyn were the NEW Seekers. Nothing to do with the Seekers. Shame they look like Bucks Fizz though!
1973 was the 1st new seekers song,of this,!
Fortunately. You're wrong. The Seekers are all alive, well and performing. Judith has just released multiple albums and is embarking on an Australian solo tour. In the meantime, there are hints of plans for a 50th anniversary Seekers event...

Paul Layton, seen here on bass, was an original New Seeker, otherwise, yes, very different.
Marty was in the original group too
Tribute Band.
at 2:03 - can anyone tell me what is being sung there? It sounds like: " Sing it along, whoa, oh uh-oh, on the ______?"
“over and over “
What an outfit she is wearing!
Drink Coca-Cola® Classic, anyone?
I feel like a Coca-Cola.

This is not the original group, Eve Graham sang the song better than this...
will do, anything better than the squackers in the new squeakers
That's not Eve Graham singing - the one singing lead in the original single, the first one you see in the infamous so-called "Hilltop" Coca-Cola commercial.
That's not Eve Graham that you see in the Hilltop commercial, it's Eve that you HEAR, but that's not her that you see...
That`s not the new seekers..............
Sorry but you're wrong.
You're right, Marty and Paul should really have called this inferior version "you and me plus three"
Bit of a karaoke version and only Paul Layton there ... and not the same without Lyn and Eve!
I prefer the original group, not imposters or trolls who tell me what I should post
original David??? Read the previous comments.
1973 is the the 1st time singen,
I wish people would come out singing this song now we really need to make it a national anthem. So I look around and I don't see anybody happy at all! Except maybe Donald Trump because he's the one that caused all this s***.

Sounds like Peter doyles voice was overdubs.!!???
I am not impressed. Not the original girls no point in calling them The New Seekers

Do try and think of something original to say please David. It's not a competition and its a perfectly decent version.
