I wanna go back to this era of skateboarding!!! Man I use to watch the hell out of this part. I knew immediately after watching this for the first time on VHS that Andrew Reynolds was my favorite skater. He's the boss.
harriet juugman yo this is from 1998 when he was just a kid. I grew up watching him for the first time in Emerica “This Is Skateboarding” and was blown away immediately! By far favorite skater ever
Honestly if this was released today it will still hold up with other video parts being released. Truthfully I’d still watch this one more. Style is timeless man
1:03 is the reason I loved skateboarding. This had me so blown away and we had a similar bush gap in my old apartments growing up and I tried and tried and tried until I finally got it and I thank the BOSS for inspiring me to become the skater that I was growing up. You changed my life. Still my favorite skater until this day. The Percy kickflip that used to be on the old tech deck I used to go to the local fred metes everyday and buy a new one just for the picture lol miss those days.
I'm a Tampa native, 36 years of age now, used to ride for the World Market. Before and after it moved from S. Dale Maybry to the SPOT. I was at the O.G. Bro Bowl watching Drew nail the kick flip to flat outta the green bowl(Bro Bowl for the 813 peeps). Andrew Reynolds was the Sheckler of the riders of the mid to late 90's, and this trick was the talk of Tampa for a minute. Rip bro bowl... Big ups ANDREW MUHFUHKIN REYNOLDS!!!! Love from the 813.
anyone who saw that bro bowl gap in person knows how massive it is. That footage does not do it justice but that was the most epic kickflip backside grab ever.
.. feeling old... the last trick was in the first Tony hawk game..that game, Andrew,Geoff, got me hooked on skateboarding. I used to think only pros could jump down huge gaps like they do...but nowadays... Kids are jumping off 2 story buildings.. if it wasn't for skateboarding, I would of gone mental living in a quiet little town in the mountains lol
This should have the most views of any video ever. Reynolds. Penny style. Portishead Shadiw style. Everything is butter and amazing. This is where your idea of skateboarding new school was at.
Andrews part in the end was the main reason i startet skating back in 1998.. Those fronside flips was epic.. This is still my favorit part of all time.. man have i worn down many of his boards and i have almost only used his shoes since.. after 13 years of skating, for me, he is still the BOSS.. i solute you Andrew Reynolds.
Skaters Watch Skateboarding 16mm doesn’t have resolution equivalent to 4K. You’d probably see the fine detail in the grain better than 1080P, but you wouldn’t be getting more tangible information. Also, I highly doubt that they edited this on film or even had a film print of the final film. You’d have to go back to the original negatives for the raw footage, transfer them to 4K video, and then edit the entire video. Labs charge by the foot to transfer the footage, and a film like this has tens of thousands of feet of footage. This would be incredibly time consuming and expensive.
WOW!!! what a throwback....one of the first videos i ever saw when first starting to skate. THANK YOU THRASHER!!!! i wonder how many people didnt know he rode for Birdhouse back in the day?
One of the top 5 legends of all time. Crazy seeing how much the music used in these videos, I grew up listening to. Dj Shadow is my shhhyit. Anyone remember watching a part and instantly going to "skateboardmusicDOTcom", to look up the song?.. Then hitting up Kazaa?... or am I old af? lmao..
Same here bro I remember in like 7th or 8th grade my first skate video and favorite skater ever since that part was so sick & Arto part in MENKMATI 'ES VIDEO BACK IN THE DAY I MISS THAT ERA OF SKATING
Legend. He owns front side flips. Can't help but notice his change in appearance as he got older. Long hair, baggy clothes. Now he shaves his head and wears tight fitting clothes.
@ 0:55 That's the double set at the post office in Tampa. Pretty sure they levelled that place a few years ago. 1:29 is the bro bowl, even a few bros there that day.
Right? I remember older dudes just telling me how crazy this was before I saw it in person. Then when I saw it, can confirm it was the most massive gap. You can only tell how big it is by how much hang time he has in the clip, it almost seemed like it was in slow mo.
@Sephitron - The report was about the different tricks in skateboarding. It was a "descriptive report" where you had to use visual props. so i showed this part and paused it after ever trick and talked about what and how he was doing the tricks.
Wow.. trip down memory lane for sure! And an all 16mm filmed skatevideo.. Andrew's effortless style and board control when he front flips pretty anything.
I have the version where the portishead song continues for the rest of the part.. Came in some DVD bundle with the hookups movie destroying America in like 2002ish I can't remember lol. Is this the VHS version?
I wanna go back to this era of skateboarding!!! Man I use to watch the hell out of this part. I knew immediately after watching this for the first time on VHS that Andrew Reynolds was my favorite skater. He's the boss.
same
I want my knees to go back too.
i never left. not that i skate stairs(cause i rarely do). can't believe the 90's are almost over ;D
Fuck yeah this still haunts me .
I love it
That ender is the one trick that got me into skating
extremely ahead of his time
Michael Cauterucci damn right
He was the best of his "generation", Kris Markovich, Jeremy Wray, Chris Lambert.. ?
Holds up 6 years later
Fer REAL!
harriet juugman yo this is from 1998 when he was just a kid. I grew up watching him for the first time in Emerica “This Is Skateboarding” and was blown away immediately! By far favorite skater ever
Drew is one of the pioneers of late 90's skateboarding by his smooth translational style!!! That BS 5-0 180 out in SF was ahead of its time!!!
Honestly if this was released today it will still hold up with other video parts being released. Truthfully I’d still watch this one more. Style is timeless man
Same here...everything goes into style. The clothes, hair cut and in this era his style was spot on
1:47 best angle for a kickflip, looks so sick
cleanest kickflip ever, no swaying, no flailing, perfectly straight, landed on bolts, damn
Looks like he's floating. They captured some of the gnarliness of that set. A lot of times the camera doesn't do the spots justice.
Oh how i loved the 90's cargo pants were so cool back then
o wassup mj
0,0 u skate
@@fyre. EVERY single skate video uploaded 2010-2012 he is in the comment section, check it out its crazy
@@happyhappyjoyjoy6563 I know what a worthless individual using skating videos for clout the disgusting shit stain.
Easy to sk8 in
This part inspired me so much every single day to skate. That beat is so nostalgic. One of the best parts ever.
This still holds up for its age.

the person, the skating, the spots, and even the music just makes this whole video legendary

Oh and rip Hubba Hideout. Got the chance to skate that spot several times and it was legendary.
Imo, that's the best part of the video. I think the boss said that was the hardest trick for him too. 1:38 "there you go!" was great. 😂
anyone who saw that bro bowl gap in person knows how massive it is. That footage does not do it justice but that was the most epic kickflip backside grab ever.

So many of us share this same story. Tony Hawk, activision/neversoft helped shape us into who we are today. Never stop skating ✌️
This should have the most views of any video ever. Reynolds. Penny style. Portishead Shadiw style. Everything is butter and amazing. This is where your idea of skateboarding new school was at.
i looked at the views and i was expecting 50 million. Boy i was wrong.
Reynolds!!!! I watch this part all the time, it blows my mind how good he was back then, definitely the best in that time in my opinion
This video brings back a lot of Memories !! In my eyes that's still the cleanest front side flip down that 14 set I will ever see. 3:26

i still got this on VHS .. used to watch it all the time.
The dubbed sound is what really got me in middle school watching this. It enhances the effect of seeing his giant pop.
Wait so is the sound dubbed? I’ve always been curious.
Imagine if Birdhouse remastered The End in 1080p. Technically possible, given it was shot on film and not video.
If they did this and gave it a new soundtrack that would be so raw. I love this classic part but it lacked in music.
@@CafeHueyLong The music in this part was incredible. Couldn't be better.
What about remastered in 4k?
@@CafeHueyLong Must be a troll. All 3 tracks were perfect for this part.

The sounds are so amazing i love just listing to the grinds, pops and flicks ! soo sick !
I can watch Reynolds every day and it never gets dull, makes me inspired and my day that much better. One of lifes great talents
He had such a dope style. So smooth with it. Plus one of the cleanest frontside flips ever. One of the best.
The sound!!! Oh man Nothing can beat this. I've been watching this video for over 20 years now...
That banger FS flip deserved three views for sure...damn.
When you go from a nickname '' turtle boy '' to '' the boss '' than you know you did something special.
Damn I forgot about that nickname, that was old school Reynolds
WOW!!! what a throwback....one of the first videos i ever saw when first starting to skate. THANK YOU THRASHER!!!! i wonder how many people didnt know he rode for Birdhouse back in the day?
I remember downloading this part on Kazaa back in the day!! (it took a week or so no joke) but it had no sound...man is it even more amazing now
this part truly holds the test of time. DAMN!!! HE IS, THE BOSS!!!
The ollie over the bush from the bump is SO iconic. Favorite all-time skater.
Seeing Turtle boy in action makes me wish skateboarding stayed simple as fun :)
It hasn't?
Look around, kids doing 360 hardflip to backtail biggerspin out? Dafaq?? But, I never forget to have fun skating..
Project-A Skateboarding step yo punk ass up Bruh
@@ProjectASkate that's fine, what's not is coca cola, nike and the us army sponsoring it
3:16 That blunt kickflip always blew my mind.
For 1998 that’s pretty nuts
oh the vibe you get from watching that video part is unforgettable thanks for this experience i remember growing up with and getting pumped up by

Andrew Reynolds looks like Tom Penny reincarnation
he's in full Penny copycat mode here lol
Dude they do skate alike lol
Just clean fs flips landed to perfection with a ton of style
Production wise, this video was way ahead of its time
I bet the video of his birth is in slow mo.

+Osiris3657 it's almost as if people can change styles in the course of seventeen years
+Osiris3657 just pointing out that most people change their style from age 20 to 37 so your observation is uninteresting. Fuckface
Osiris3657 listen, kid. this isn't dramtic, this is simply following fashion. and fashion changes over time, everyone knows this. chill the fuck out
+Ytrearneindre dramatic*
+Osiris3657 i cant help but notice if i dont take a shit in the morning my farts start stanking. who giz a shit what he wearing and when
Man Reynolds was doing big shit back in 97 its crazy!
Even now this is still sick.
gotta be one of the first front blunt kick to fakies on a handrail. so so nasty. hail.
SO. Fucking nasty.
Every trick in this part are banger tricks.
And I love the change in his clothing from this video compared to today.
Damn prolly in his top 3 video parts ever. So big so clean and so awesome!
The kickflip grab out of the bro bowl was absolute freaking bonkers in real life. So was the switch tailslide in venice. Not easy to skate that.
can see the duct tape where he covered up the zero logo on the fs flip over the rail
Erik Ellington's board
@ 0:55 That's the double set at the post office in Tampa. Pretty sure they levelled that place a few years ago. 1:29 is the bro bowl, even a few bros there that day.
been watchin this part for years, still the best
I remember my first trip to the Bro Bowl, seeing that gap in person. It doesn’t look that big in the video, but it was a hefty gap.

Such sick style on the 360s damn

Songs are Portishead Undenied and Organ Donor by Dj Shadow.
First skate video i ever saw and i still watch it all the time
What deck is he riding at 2:54? Never seen that graphic before
Probably my favorite part in this video also, really liked the Berra part also, and Kirkhart!
I remember watching this part to get pumped before going out and skating....best part ever!!!
it doesn't get more iconic than this.
watching this makes me realize how much skateboarding has realy progressed
Boss with the switch Muska Flip. Very rare
This part is hypnotizing.

I did a report in college on this video part in my speech class, a got an A+ on it!
andrew is soo good, over half the tricks in this part had to be slo mo so that your brain can comprehend the awesomeness.
what a king that nollie three at the beggining was insane
The crazy thing is he will bust out all these trick today. He's still top notch
What is the name of the song minute 1:43
just goes to show how much filming and editing has progressed over the years..
That first proper beat that starts about 1-47 is from Portishead's first album . my favourite in the part.
@andres10 - "Har-You Percussion Group - Undenied" is what is listed, not sure if the name is correct
Reynolds, Rowley and Thomas used to attack spots. Always loved their styles.
Damn this takes me back
Original music too! Fucking beautiful.
Where's the spot at 1:11
that cab in the beginning was so sick.
"the end" is the best skate video ever .
I have the version where the portishead song continues for the rest of the part.. Came in some DVD bundle with the hookups movie destroying America in like 2002ish I can't remember lol. Is this the VHS version?
He should get these remastered in hi def
back to the day he wanted to start to do the whole process, to become the second coming. (all words, but think about it)
