In this documentary presented by Anthea Turner, the UK360 team travels to Surrey to the home of Brian May to meet his latest resident, Percy the hedgehog. Percy was badly abused by passersby, rescued by Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue and is now in their caring hands in at their sanctuary in the garden of rock super star, and animal welfare champion, Brian May of Queen.

Because people are largely raised and conditioned by society, parents, peers, media and even teachers to feel they are an isolated, separate individual confronting a strange and alien world that's out to get them. So they attack life and the world and lash out, become aggressive and self-interested. This is also, however, what makes it so intoxicating to many people to feel part of some sort of group, tribe, team, family, national identity and so on - underlying all the neurotic individuality of thought remains a deep longing to feel part of something greater (because people don't understand that they already are the exact same blank and pure "awareness" or "consciousness" that everyone else is underneath all this play of individuality).
If we, as a society, raised our children to feel completely part of the natural world and to identify as consciousness itself rather than all these artificial ideas and thoughts about who we are individually, as personalities etc, then a great deal of the utterly unnecessary neuroses, aggression, conflict and other problems of human society would quickly evaporate.
Those thugs are absolute Bastard's, they are scum.

One of my favourite memories is of seeing a mother hedgehog leading her troop of tiny Tiggywinkles across a road in the early hours of the morning... such a sweet sight.
Bless Brian's hedgehog loving heart!!!! Hope Percy is still doing good, and I've always hated the poisons sold in stores. No animal deserves such an agonising slow painful death from ingesting poison. I read where Brian had said he'd rather be remembered for his work with animals than anything else. Well, you will be remembered as one of the most amazing musicians to ever fill our ears and hearts with joy as part of the legendary Queen!!!!

One of the greatest rock guitarists of all time - if not the greatest - but also a professor of astronomy and a mild mannered, softly spoken animal lover. I mean, you just can't not love this guy.
What a great rescue! We need more people like you (and me) who devote lots of time to caring for wildlife. They are so precious and, sadly, we are losing the battle to protect the future of hedgehogs. More PUBLICITY please - from folk like you who can afford it. I have spent about 10 years caring for hedgehogs, indeed I have had pics published in the local press. Let's continue doing all we possibly can to preserve these little beauties!

It's really a beautiful work Brian is doing. That's why I wasn't wrong when choosing Queen as my favorite band. Normally most of rock stars are selfish, think of anything else, than their drug abuse, shows, their own addiction and their treatment or whatsoever forgetting about so many good things like this they could do, cause they have so much spotlight and media attention. These kind of initiative that could be more broadcasted.
Whaaaaat?!? Brian May and Percy the Hedgehog... two of my very favorite things. "I simply remember my favorite things, and then I don't feeeeeeel... so baaaaaaaaad..." I know this clip was released quite some time ago, but you know, I still love 'rocket scientists' and hedgehogs as much as ever I did. God bless ye both today, and every day. @Typhoon792 That's why I like Queen so bad. They do'nt try to make a revolution or something. They just talk about human feelings and aspirations, not a revolted rock band, it's quite happy. Normally most of their songs are really inspiring. For example, they talk about friendship, love, victory.. Usually idols like them are very important on ppl attitude. I guess a person like Brian has a very powerful influence on the youngster's mind, that's why I think his work and effort are beautiful.
Thank goodness for people like Brian May! He has saved so many innocent creatures who have been tortured by their worst enemy - humans 🥲
I just glanced at a little plaque I have on my mirror before viewing this video. It says: 'Love is a Verb." Brian May is a great example. Thank you for all that you do. We all need to think...really think.
Why the pessimistic-sounding comments? It obviously shows that we don't have the initiative to change our society in our own way.
That aside, people like Dr Brian together with Anne and the folks at Save Me and Harper Asprey are doing their part to protect the animals in their country. Very inspiring to other people the world over who give respect to Nature. :)
How some people are able to treat an animal in such a cruel way is beyond me! Kicked, thrown around, beaten with a brick, some people are just sick in the head. Dr May is truely a blessing in this crazy world.

That first lockdown at the end of march last year might well be the turning point in the fight to save our precious hedgehogs, with people stuck at home, more & more of us started to notice the wildlife that visited our gardens. I joined a hedgehog group on facebook, this group was created in 2010 & even up to the start of 2020 before the lockdown only had around 500 members, that number snowballed & now has over 14,000 members.
Lots more people, myself included have cameras in our garden to monitor the hedgehog activity & it's helping us to catch sick & injured hedgehogs so more are being helped & successfully treated at hedgehog rescue centres run by people in their own homes!
I honestly believe we've hit a turning point in yukky decline of these precious creatures & with slug pellets being banned, they should become less of a threat
You are a musician so influential and talented, that you'll manage to pass a message of tolerence and respect for the residents of wildlife.

I wish I could have shown my dad this when he dumped snail and slug pellets on MY veganic/ organic vegetable garden. I live in Australia so we don't have hedgehogs but I did have a dog and thankfully he ignored snail pellets. It could have ended very badly.

The video isn't about idolatry for him, its about waking us up as viewers. What can we do to help those who are abused and helpless? If everyone watching did a small thing to help creatures big or small, human or not, then it is a form of revolution against the greed, destruction and madness in the world.

when i told you about my own life, i wasn't being kinda snobbish, thinking about my own greatness and importance, i was telling the point of view of a very humble and simple person, who tries very hard to keep up in life, who faces daily troubles and obstacles, however, never give up on the good dreams and beliefs that has.

@Typhoon792 I did a drawing for Brian and Roger and a group drawing when they came here in 2008. The show house( I had to work a lot to pay that ticket, but that was worth it cause was Queen) told me I could hand them to their press officer or something and then I spent about two months making those pictures. When I tried to hand to somebody who could give them at the end of the show, nobody knew anything. I got really disappointed I couldn't hand them.

Hedgehogs are also suffering from natural illnesses a lot will have serious lung worm infections as well as other internal parasites.

Unfortunately Brian, that's never going to happen. People are disgusting. I always feel sad watching you try to do some good because there's just such the ratio of people that do the opposite is so much higher. Also, harm is easier to do. All the good that you do, that very second, some other person is contributing equally negatively or even more. I wish I could help but at 20 years of age, I barely have enough money for myself. It's how it is for most. But Dr. May, you are my inspiration!

@Adrianats It's not like I disagree. You aren't really saying anything counter to what I did though.. I was saying, despite all this, things are the way they are... We for the most part already do all those little things. People like us already act, some on as big a scale as possible for them, like Brian. That's really just being a minor local hero. Trying to bring awareness & changing how people do things is a life long goal which usually does very little. It's the unfortunate truth.
@Typhoon792 So I gave up giving them and didn't know if they would give the same importance which I do for those pictures, so I still have them with me.
I said it all to you, just to give an example by my own experience that If you have a dream, and you chase it, you can do it I guess. Even if there are lots of obstacles and deceptions. And it also depends on you point of view, if that cause has an importance, and more people consider it too, no matter if the world falls apart, it'll survive.

I'd like restart having music lessons, drawing lessons. My dream's having a reasonable piano to play, but in my country, art and music aren't valued. It's extremely expensive for those things, we pay lots of bills and no investment is made. So I have to choose between: work and study.. then if I can afford (which I have to work a lot to get) then I get the "Luxury" of something for myself like an art course. I guess I have to build my own piano like Brian did on his guitar rs...

@Adrianats I said nothing about myself & I'm nothing like that. Thanks for sharing but that doesn't say much and it's actually kind of offensive because it's as if you're saying I have no experience. First of all, realistic is not the same as pessimistic. History says it all and yes, I can do things to make small changes but to actually do something, I'd have to dedicate my life to it & so would you. So please don't act so high and compare personal achievements to world achievements.
