    Thank you for making this video. It did help me to read the answers you gave to some of the other comments to know how to tell when the hinge needs to be replaced. This has been the only video I have found so far that talks about this particular kind/shape of hinge, so thank you!

    Thanks for posting ! I had the exact same broken hinges as you and replaced with the hinges on your link - all worked out great!

    Very helpful. When I put the door back on with new hinges there is still a little gap. Won’t close flat. Any hints to fix that?

      There are adjustment screws that will allow you to make minor adjustments to the door positioning, but to get it to lay flat I'm not sure that will make the fix. It may be that the door is slightly warped. Sorry its tough to tell without actually seeing it, but its somewhere to start 🤷

    Much better than the other videos I watched. Most people were trying to sell some kind of magnet. I just wanted to fix it correctly. Thank you.

      Thank you for the comment! We try to show that doing things correctly doesn't mean that it will be more difficult. As my dad always says do it right the first time so you don't have to do it again!

    Opened my cabinet and a little balck piece of plastic fell out & at first I was super confused but after the door would not stay closed, I assumed it must have been a mechanism that broke off the hinge. Thankyou for confirmation the hinge will need replacement & how to read the part numbers.

    This was educational although not enough to help me replace the KraftMaid's sales rep.s substitute blum hinge. The blum website says the hinge that the sales rep. gave me is going out of date and out of production in June, one month from now. My cabinets are 30 years old. I am going to have to redrill new holes and hope I can get them to work as the overlay is probably not a match, but the cups will fit into the round holes....thanks.

    Can a BLUM 110 hinge be adjusted to close? Or is the spring just non-adjustable and the whole part will have to be entirely replaced.

      Its a little plastic piece that snaps, so I just replaced the whole part

    It would be helpful if you would state in the beginning that this door has broken hinges and how you determined that. Couldn't it just be adjusted to close better? Or are you saying that if a door does that it has to be replaced? I didn't know where you were going with this. How did you know it had to be replaced and not just adjusted? And if it could be adjusted, why not show us how to do that? I am not convinced that I have a door where the hinges are broken - how do I determine that?

    • @BusyBeeLiving
      @BusyBeeLiving  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very good point. These style of hinges have a small black plastic piece that covers the small hinge arm. You can tell that the hinge is broken when the arm is exposed, and many times you will find the small plastic piece either in the cabinet or on the counter or floor around the door. Hope this helps you identify the broken hinge.

    So did something malfunction in the hinges? Do they just wear down over time? Thanks.

    • @BusyBeeLiving
      @BusyBeeLiving  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a plastic piece inside the cup that wears after awhile and will break. These were a little over 20 years old and finally gave in.

  • @epatton6

    I’d love to replace this hinge that doesn’t have the plastic parts that frequently break. Is the an alternative to the Blum 33.3600x20S?
    Post a link to an alternative and I’ll definitely click on it to buy some!

    • @BusyBeeLiving
      @BusyBeeLiving  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are other hinges that do not have these but you lose the self close feature. I personally would rather have that feature and just know that in 15 to 20 years they may need replaced.

    This sill solve my problem, but I'm definitely taking the glassware out of the cabinet first, because the downside risk there (for me) is very high. ;)

    I thought this was to FIX a hinge. This is to REPLACE a hinge.

    • @BusyBeeLiving
      @BusyBeeLiving  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, unfortunately there is a small black plastic piece in these hinges that breaks over time so replacing them in necessary. Hopefully though in the video you learned how to identify the exact hinge you have so you can make the replacement.

      @@BusyBeeLiving yes but the word FIX in the title is not correct. It should have been replace.

    You have to explain everything in detail while showing it. To sometimes show and sometimes only explain without showing, is very hard to follow. We aren't necessarily familiar with what a cup is, for example. If your target audience is professional cabinet fixers, then I'm sorry, forget what I wrote.

    Instead of having to replace these....why are they breaking and not working to begin with. I have many of these that just decide to not work one day....why is a hinge being built that just, doesn't work one day !?!?!

  • @chriselexpuru2571
    @chriselexpuru2571 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wait, Your video title reads "fix" not "replace". You should change the title. This misled me to believe that these hinges could be repaired.

  • @joshlewis7584
    @joshlewis7584 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You could have just made a 5 second video by saying "replace the hinge"

    • @BusyBeeLiving
      @BusyBeeLiving  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      True, but there are so many different styles, types and brands of hinges I wanted to make sure that this would be universal no matter what you had. That being said, the video breaks down how to identify the brand and type. This way you buy the right hinge the first time.
