    If I were to get a Passport, I would definitely build it like Jon with the side steps that's how they should come from the factory as an off-road option.

      We should do a Honda trip up. You’ll see a Subaru group attempting the pass in the coming days.

    Have you done Black Bear Pass?

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not. It was closed a few days ago, but I wasn’t interested in doing it anyways 😂

      @JonDZ_Adventuring 90% of Black Bear isn't that bad. It's just the steps and the switchbacks that are intimidating. With a good spotter and patience I think you'd be able to do it. That being said, I don't think Black Bear will be open at all this year.

      @JonDZ_Adventuring  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@frankietuned yeah, that's another thing too. The way I see it, Black bear is really nothing about capability (well, besides flex and center of gravity, turning radius) but more about not dying 🤣. If I had a Subaru with a boxter engine and a really low CG, I would be more inclined to do it. But 5400 lb. Honda with a 180 lb. roof top tent seems too risky.

      @JonDZ_Adventuring the wife and I always say. It's not a real vacation if we didn't risk our lives at least once. 😳........ wait she's the one that says that. I'm just along for the ride. Ummmm, help blink blink 😆

    Another great video Jon! I'm still not sure I like "how" the sliders attach. When I see the Hondas touch on rocks with the sliders from Traxda, I can see the slider bend upwards, or flex just a bit. That is flexion where the bolts attach to the unibody I think, or maybe the brackets that hold the sliders on. When I had sliders on my 4Runner, I could slam down on a rock and those things didn't move at all... granted, they were welded onto the actual frame of the 4Runner... but I wonder about long-term, or severe banging on them with our unibodies. I suppose "something" is way better than "nothing at all". What are your thoughts? Again, thanks for you efforts in these videos! You do awesome work.

      I feel like since a unibody is more solid than a body of frame that has more flex the slight flex in the trax bar would absorb more impact flexing slightly than sending all the force throughout the vehicle if it was solid as the vehicle but how much this flex helps.. idk but your right something better than nothing lol

    Are you getting the new one?

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The plan is to test the new version. I think the wider version would be the most useful for me. I want to protect against door dings, from shopping carts, doors, but also from boulders.

      @@JonDZ_Adventuring you think it will be as protective like the rocker sliders you have now?

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@popeyerubi1981 I think it’ll be more protective overall, but will need to be welded. The midsized Hondas have a bulbous body, so the wider steps will protect the sides from sliding into a Boulder

      @popeyerubi1981 sliding into an object or the risk of sliding into something has always been such a danger. Just a couple of days ago inside the arches national park, I came across this rutted climb with boulders in the middle. I almost slid into one. It got too risky so I turned around

    If you can't afford to under armor the bottom all at one time, do the oilpan/transmission and rear diff first. Do the rails first if you and your wife park beside each other to keep the door dings to a minimum
