In 1978, I was an 18 yr old kid in the Navy on a submarine on patrol. In those days for some reason we had access to “new releases” . I remember watching this movie and this performance, mesmerized, and to this day, I remember my words said out loud to no one in particular, “who is this man?” As soon as we got back to shore, I bought every record I could get my hands on by “Van the Man” . 40-some years later, I bet I’ve listened to and watched this performance hundreds of times and always feel like it’s the first time I “discovered” Van Morrison.

This music is amazing, BUT there is equally fantastic music out there now, recently created... but how would you know? I'll bet you are not exposed/don't expose yourself to anything current. You thinking there is nothing new and good is a shame. You're wrong and what's worse, you're missing out.

At 76 Van the Man is still going strong today! No one will ever beat the passion he puts into his Voice. I think his performance actually shocked the Band (you can tell by the smiles on their faces)because it was the first time they worked together with little rehearsal. Van deadest his Fame, and it only provides him the vehicle to create more music. Van suffered from Stage Fright and this was his first live performance in 2 years. How such Humble, introverted Human Being can possess such a commanding stage presence is remarkable! This has to be considered the best live performances by major artist on video tape! The kickout by Van is historic.

This is the only song that will get my baby to sleep. It has to be this version, currently listening to this whilst the baby is sleeping. The best thing about this is you can never get sick of listening to this. Best. Song. Ever!

lot of talent went on that stage that night, but the little ginger guy from belfast owned them all imho. the way he rips into it when the horns start blasting at the end totally sends me! justa one more time...

Van Morrison was amazing, that's true. I honestly don't know which was the better vocal though, this or Levon's The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down vocal performance...

Easily one of the greatest performances of Caravan I’ve ever heard… I have loved this show since I was a small child and that love has only grown over time. Seeing Robbie with that giant smile and energy bursting from the seams is downright magical. Thank you for sharing this!

He says frig the mic stand I'm letting the Jameson handle this, interrupts the guitar solo with scatting, kicks the air like he's kicking away a rabid dog, and then drops the mic and leaves the stage. Friggin LEGENDARY

Best performance of the whole damned concert. Blows me away and makes me get up and do those kicks every time I watch it. If you enjoyed it, you'll love "It's Too Late to Stop Now", Van's 1974 live album.

Wish I could live my life the way Van performed this song...such an epic badass this performance was, and he knew it. Talk about a true original who just didn't give two fcks what anyone thought. The original mic drop. The expressions are priceless. This never gets old.

I was 17 yrs old and going to go to this concert and changed my mind. It was pretty expensive at the time.
Truly one of the biggest regrets of my life.
I missed what is arguably the best concert in history.
So now I live vicariously thru the movie. I watch it at least a couple times a year.
