"Where they go next is anybody's guess, but no matter what direction they take we can be certain that their robot persona will be the one constant through it all." ROFL only a year later this statement hits 1000 times harder
To me its always just been a cool, unique look. When you've got an endless stream of same-y popstars, who all sound and look the same, having just two dudes come out in crazy looking helmets really lets them stand out. At that point their music only has to be average for them to become popular, because at that point you go to their concerts and shows just to see what they'll do next.
Their music has always been a meshing of time periods and genres of music, and the robot suits and personas are just another part of that. The contrast between their technological/nonhuman/futuristic robot outfits and sounds of synths, drum machines, and vocoders mixed with the analog/human/nostalgic samples from 70s and 80s disco/funk/etc. tracks and their usage of real keyboards/guitars/bass has always been some of the defining characteristics of Daft Punk's sound.
Literally, though. That's the entire reason. They're shy as hell and don't want their faces to be seen so they can, yknow, walk out in public without getting mauled by fans.
I had my son " Thomas" when I was 17 so of course i knew Daft Punk so I named my son after the band member "Thomas" that was 2005 and I'm Trying to make him a DJ like Daft Punk
In Romania there's this band called Carla's dreams and they wear elaborate makeup (like full on paintings) and hoodies. This too creates a great feeling of mystery and it's very creative too. But not all bands/singers can do that. This obsessive cult of personality is a problem when the artist is more valued than their music, and if they choose to hide their identity that's nice, but they're not obliged to. It's the industry and fans expectations that should change.
I believe that they were inspired by the band SPACE from the late 70's. TWO guys wearing space helmets playing synth music... Check out MAGIC FLY LP from 1977 Excellent synth disco

It is.
That song is amazing.
The album writings on the ram cover also looks similar to michael jackson's thriller
Funny enough, when Thomas went on tour with DJ Falcon and Cassius in 2002, they played the David Guetta remix of Heroes as part of their set.
@@PerhapsGuy *And now... R.I.P Cassius. Not long ago this year.
*sad face* :-(

*Update 2021: They finally retired after 28 years.* 😓
This has to be one of the most well done videos on Daft Punk that I have seen and I have seen A LOT of videos on them. Props to you
Did you know the idiots are flat earthers now?
Daft Punk are great, Random Access Memories is my favorite album of all time
I've always loved their designs. They look badass and creative. The music is amazing too!
"Where they go next is anybody's guess, but no matter what direction they take we can be certain that their robot persona will be the one constant through it all." ROFL only a year later this statement hits 1000 times harder
2 years.
that hug at the grammy's was super heartfelt, that definitely got me
My personal answer: its aesthetically pleasing.
Best Cyberpunk Bromance Arc.
Me reading the title: why wouldn’t they?
Been a fan since Homework. Really love how the duo continue to evolve their craft with each album. They're very talented.
This is the best video to watch regarding Daft Punk's history. No bullshit and to the point.
I've loved them since 97. Random access memories is an absolute masterpiece.
Every day I find a new fact about daft punk that surprises me even more I respect those guys so much
Producer: How much LED?
Daft Punk: Yes
Daft Punk deserves to be in the music hall of fame
For doing what exactly🤔🤔🤔
sibusiso Tshabalala revolutionizing music
@@carmelopearman5721 That statement could not be more underrated. You are exactly right!!
sibusiso Tshabalala
everything.
Agree.
I hate that I had gone back to watch this video just hours before that announcement... 7:07 hits really different now. :(
They were shy.
I just saved you 12 minutes.
Literally, though. That's the entire reason. They're shy as hell and don't want their faces to be seen so they can, yknow, walk out in public without getting mauled by fans.
maybe you saved 12 minutes for a person that is not a fan. but for the fans, it was a nice video, i like to believe.
@@SeeDVicious video could be about 10 mins shorter!
Thanks flip flop dood
@@edmenjoyer1039 lol when you solve introvertisim and judgement in one fine stroke
That Grammy performance was crazy, one of the best live performance ever.
I had my son " Thomas" when I was 17 so of course i knew Daft Punk so I named my son after the band member "Thomas" that was 2005 and I'm Trying to make him a DJ like Daft Punk
why not guy-man lol
Kid will do what he want, dont force it on him all because of your own fondness. Watch yourself.
Don't force your wishes on to him
Thank you Daft Punk for your unbelievable music. You will be missed!

So Excited for the Pink Floyd The Wall review!!
i've rarely seen this much professionnalism by an amateur journalist, one word : respect
Tron is a masterpiece!” & it made me understand that we want and we need more concept albums. Because we love the cohesive nature.
I was so happy for them when they won the award. I been rooting for them since the 90's.
Harder, better, faster, stronger will always be one of my all time favorite songs!!
Hi i am from romainia too,and i know Carlos dreams is very cool
Thank you for making this. Daft Punk will always be remembered by us and they’ll forever live in our hearts and memories❤️
Daft Punk is life. Daft Punk is love

daft punk are flat earthers... lmao that's some life.
@deniz akkaya Wait are you quoting the pop locking preacher guy?
I believe that they were inspired by the band SPACE from the late 70's. TWO guys wearing space helmets playing synth music... Check out MAGIC FLY LP from 1977 Excellent synth disco
_is shy in French_
oh wow, i was right
I like how there appear to be pretty much no photos of their faces from after they started wearing the helmets as well
Watching this after seeing their break-up announcement video...
Forever LEGENDS Daft Punk ('93-'21) 😞😞😞
