While I can totally see why this movie is divisive among G-fans, I really like it. Sure it's totally bonkers, but it's also one of the darkest, gloomiest, and more sophisticated Godzilla movies in th ed series...at least in my opinion. Also Hedorah is really neat. Easily one of my favorite antagonists from the Showa era :)
My mom really didn't care for this one but I liked it my nephew Carlos when he was younger he would always say hey hey Uncle William put on Godzilla versus the garbage monster
Here is a translation of the lyrics according to Wikizilla: Islands... fish... where've you gone? Dragonflies... butterflies... where've you gone? The Japanese version is a totally different song from the English version the lyrics are totally different. But considering that they redid the song for the English translation of the movie and kept it seamless with the movie that's really good
odd, I've only seen the eng dub and the japanese song has always been on it. I guess it is like Sea Monster where there's two dubs, I remember one had the cartoony english dub, the other had Asian actors translating the dialogue into English instead.
I agree, the English dubs in the Godzilla movies are trash, I’d prefer Japanese Language with English subtitles, so what u have to do some extra reading, boo boo get over it lol
Save the Earth Animals, God's animals Don't go away, don't go Flowers, my flowers Don't go away, don't go The sea has cobalt, it's full of mercury Too many fumes in our oxygen All the smog now is choking you and me Good Lord, where is it gonna end? Save the Earth is a different song sung in English for the U.S. release of Godzilla vs. Hedorah. The lyrics are changed from the Japanese version, but set to the same tune.
The movie isn't the worst of the bunch. That title would go to Godzilla's Revenge and the anime trilogy, but the movie is still...bizarre...drug-fueled madness.

The Boglin Man same, I can’t wrap my head around the fact that some people actually prefer to hear awful English dubs in these kinds of films...especially the one in Final Wars, the English voice actors had no fucking emotion whatsoever
I just wanna say to everyone trashin on the english version for having such different lyrics and stuff... They actually arent that different give a similar meaning and to their credit arent just saying chemical names for long stretches of the song, i like the japanese version a lot more myself just because i like the singers voice more but that doesnt mean its somehow just a completely different song. The only changes were done to make it more songy in english. And again a lot of the same things are in there just at other parts and the message and tone is still very much the same
As crazy as it sounds, I swear I heard the Japanese version of this song when I watched “Godzilla vs. Hedorah” on SyFy (when it was called Sci-Fi, I know weird right?) when this movie showed up on the airwaves.
I sing the English language chorus when people I know come and expecting me the to do what ever they ask because they refuse to do... but act like it's the biggest crisis known to the human race!
People should teach climate change with this movie. It's a good analogy and when combined with the facts it could be a great way to combat the very real threat of environmental destruction by pollution and climate change. Also, it is our failure as humans that it's been 50 years and people are still acting like the lesson this movie teaches isn't real. Inb4 some f*ckwad tries to tell me Godzilla isn't political, or that climate change isn't real
One of the reasons why Japan is so clean today is because of environmental messages in stuff like Godzilla and Ultraman back in the day. Back then, the pollution in Japan was even worse than in America at the time, and this film was one of the numerous reasons why Japan is now one of the cleanest countries in the world. Also, Godzilla always had a political message, an anti-nuke message.

Hey, I'm not complaining or anything but why was this on the English dub that I watched on TV as a kid, but other people claimed to have seen the god-awful English dub of the song? Again, I am most definitely NOT complaining! Sometimes the soundtrack is what makes or breaks a movie & I feel if I saw the film with the English version of the song I would have not liked it nearly as much as I do now. I know myself.
I knew some people would object to one or the other, and that's why I uploaded both versions. But actually there are TWO English dubs of this movie. The one that Toho approved was done in Hong Kong and left the song in Japanese. When it was released theatrically in the states, it was dubbed again in New York, and they came up with English lyrics to the song. That version was released by A.I.P. When they folded,, their library was sold to Orion, who released the NY dubbed version on VHS for decades, until MGM bought Orion when they went bankrupt. At this time, Sony purchased the license for Godzilla for their remake and then got exclusive distribution rights to all their post 1989 G-films, plus a few old ones including this. If they released the A.I.P. dub (with the English song), they would have also had to purchase the rights from MGM, so they kept with Toho's own dub with the Japanese song. The same holds true with the Kraken release as well as the upcoming Criterion release.
Oh, please! For every Empire there's always gonna be a TLJ, just as for every KOTM there's a Smog Monster. If a franchise goes on for a long time, shit happens. People get old, studios get bought out, new authors try something new and fail, old writers loose their knack. Lightening can't strike the same place twice. So Star Wars had a crappy sequel. It happened to Godzilla, Trek, Bond, M:I, Apes, you name it. It's not blasphemy, it's just the law of averages.
You talk complete and utter bullshit dude, whats happening to the Starwars franchise right now is not just about some 'crappy sequel'. Its about social messages, feminist and gender politics invading a beloved franchise, and all the mythology and lore being destroyed but i can see you either dont understand that or just dont want to hear anything mentioned about Starwars or even in comparison to your beloved Godzilla. I like Godzilla, im a fan (especially of Shin Godzilla) and im glad the US studios have finally started making efforts to stay true to Godzilla now. Cant believe i made one little comparison, something that was meant as alittle sarcasm, in reference to how bad things truly are in a beloved franchise and you pick out my comment of all the others here, this says alot about YOU dude it really does. It shows your ignorance for a start, okay i get it, you simply dont give a crap about Starwars, your a Godzilla fan and do not want anything at all mentioned of any other franchise on here, i get it (geez).
