I lived in the Detroit area for about 4 years in the early 90s and because of that I can't help but root for this city. @@FirstHillSeattle It definitely has. Back in the early 90's people in the suburbs would go hang out in Ann Arbor or Royal Oak instead of downtown Detroit. But that's not the case anymore. Now, I think you'd be shocked at what downtown has become. Thanks for rooting for our city!

@@michael-johnbrown2881 in the bad neighborhoods yes. Downtown you can walk at night pretty much whenever, it’s too crowded for random shootings. Downtown is safe
This is a major, major difference from what downtown looked like back in 2011. You had abandoned buildings on Woodward, skyscrapers selling for $600k, historic buildings all facing the wrecking ball. 2013 was probably the city’s lowest point in history. It is incredible how much progress has been made since then. And it really serves to underscore how amazing Detroit’s urban bones are. This city will rise again
There are signs everywhere that the city is rebounding. You see construction going on and huge cranes renovating historic structures. Detroit is a historically beautiful city. There is still a lot to be done but I love what’s happening in Detroit. It’s such a large city and it will take time to get the neighborhoods back on track. But jobs are opening up and people are living in the downtown area that was pretty deserted 10 years ago. Nothing Stops Detroit.👍

Most of Detroit is darker and at least for a while they couldn't afford to replace the street lights so it was REALLY dark even on the freeway. I don't know if they fixed that or not.

@@Dropkickurteacher No, it's actually the opposite. The suburbs are nice. It's the actual city itself where most crimes and murders happen. I visited Detroit in late 2015 & it looked really dull with very little activity. Glad to see that the city has improved a lot during the last 3 years.
It's nice to be reminded that Detroit has some good areas. Seems like every time I see footage or photos of this city it's always of the abandoned or crime-ridden ones.
For a number of reasons, negative press typically gets more clicks than the positive stories. Curious to see how these algorithms will be improved across all of social media platforms to focus more on positive stories. Its a hot topic now!
We call it ruin porn here in Detroit, and all these out-of-towners love to come in and do nothing but see what they can find out that looks horrible. It’s almost unbelievable, they totally go around all the beautiful areas, and the lovely neighborhoods that are here. They act like nothing even exists , except burned out buildings, all for the reason to make their lvideos seem more eye-catching. Unfortunately, they are full of false comments. As you can see as proof positive the downtown and mid air town areas and numerous other neighborhoods are making a beautiful come back.
Cool vid. I always had a blast there. Also cafes and restaurants open till 3am or later in Greektown, I was pretty surprised, and the interiors in all those old buildings are unfreakinblievable.
Thanks for the video. Look how shocked people are in the comments and there's still alot more to the city. Detroit has to be the only major city that gets judged by it's negative qualities first. If it weren't for the media, Detroit and MI as a whole would have countless more investments by now.
Marvin Strong 🎯🎯🎯🎯 Probably most likely cause Detroit is the blackest big city in America % wise ,and we know how the media like to paint black ppl ....

For some reason the media’s favorite pastime has been to bash Detroit. It is terrible the way they talk about Detroit. The people that do this most likely haven’t been here in years to see the progress. So much to see. It’s a city that has all 4 major sports teams within a mile’s radius of each other. There are excellent museums, including Greenfield Village and The Henry Ford, the Detroit Institute of Arts (one of the top in the U.S.), the Motown Museum. Detroit was voted as having the #1 Riverwalk in the country , for the last 2 years. And for all the naysayers, look up the important history of the city….how it played a huge part in the outcome of WW 2 when they transformed all the automotive plants to production of tanks, jeeps and fighter planes. As the great mayor Mike Duggan of Detroit said after winning another term, everyone will be talking about Detroit as the comeback city. It is happening. So to the media how about spreading the good news about Detroit. And, no I’m not a native Detroiter. I’m a Canadian who lives across the river in Canada. Just think it’s time people recognize all the great things going on in Detroit. 😊
Already way nicer than other large cities despite having a bad rep. & ghetto areas. Detroit is obviously well on it's way being heavily invested in by billionaires to become a upscale urban living environment based on sustainability.
you are right, people are moving here more and more due to how fast it is growing back up again. If you want to live in a thriving city for way less than New York, Detroit is the place to be.
This is actually nice. I want your job J...…………. I go to Detroit every year to the Autoshow for work and THANK GOD they are moving it to June in 2020. January is brutal there and I dread going. Foundation Hotel across from Cobo is very nice however. The weirdest thing in Detroit is when you drive out Jefferson or Mack to the Grosse Pointe border. Abandoned buildings to the right and left -- or big blocks of grass with one house standing --- BLINK and everything looks like Greenwich CT. Wealthy suburb. No transition whatsoever. It's almost like an hallucination.
Good to hear from you again nyc! The travel is entertaining for sure. Having auto show in the summer is a smart move. More attendees will now consider bringing family if possible. A couple of years ago, we were passing through on Christmas Eve. We walked out to the riverfront at sunrise. Hard to believe how cold it can get! So I've been into the suburbs briefly and thats a great way to put it. It almost doesn't make sense. The overgrown empty city blocks feel like a movie setting. On your next visit, try out one of those peddle power party bar bikes for me!! I counted 6 or so the other night all around town!
LOL That comment was funny to me ( home town Detroiter ) Most of ALL THAT WEALTH you see in Grosse Point Was pulled out of Detroit along with the tax base because those people didn’t want to live around the ANY Black PEOPLE ( regardless of there income ) that moved into there old neighborhoods ... So because of the Generational structural Racism , Detroit was left with a receding Population political power and Tax base . So when these TROLLS come on here debasing Detroit it’s people like them that is the reason Central reason why it has ended up in the shape they claim it is in
Thank you for recording Detroit, I grew up going to clubs and many great music venues here and also in Windsor Canada because you can drink legal at 19 years old. My half brother was born in Flushing, MI but him and my mum moved to the U.K. 10 months after he was born. Because of him I’ve always been a Lions and Pistons fan. I’m hoping after the pandemic I can finally take a trip to Ford Field and explore Detroit. Great vid.
All four of the arenas are downtown now so you can also catch a pistons game at little ceasars arena, across from Ford field
Thank you very much for posting this interesting video! I hope to watch another J Utah's night drive again. Please take care.👍☺🚘🎥👏
Detroit is still alive ? Fantastic
@@nuqtptw5322 фига,я даже сам не догадался !
I visited Detroit in late 2015 & it looked really dull with very little activity. Glad to see that the city has improved a lot during the last 3 years.
Even I was surprised this last time. Lots of people everywhere. And the peddle bar bikes too. Love those!
Thank you so much...
Very nice and regards from Germany!
Cool looking city. Lots of interesting historic buildings.
It's good to see an effort is being put forth to restore and beautify downtown Detroit.
Now they just need to start razing thousands of those vacant and derelict buildings.
Lovely video thank you.
Detroit really has potential to become something Detroit lowkey have always been one of my favorite cities shout out from htown

Cool vid. I always had a blast there. Also cafes and restaurants open till 3am or later in Greektown, I was pretty surprised, and the interiors in all those old buildings are unfreakinblievable.
Most marvelous video, thanks! More evening/sunset videos pls!
Thanks for the video. Look how shocked people are in the comments and there's still alot more to the city. Detroit has to be the only major city that gets judged by it's negative qualities first. If it weren't for the media, Detroit and MI as a whole would have countless more investments by now.
Marvin Strong Absolutely, I completely agree!
Marvin Strong 🎯🎯🎯🎯 Probably most likely cause Detroit is the blackest big city in America % wise ,and we know how the media like to paint black ppl ....
Wasn't it fitting - during housing crisis - to bail out all the business - amrcns are dumb down and listened to bill oreilly as GOSPEL X . A dab cough a waterfall will kill ya
Moved from Detroit to Phoenix and I’m not gonna lie I do miss Detroit very much, it’s so lively downtown and I love it
nice. yeah downtown continues to improve. look foprward to seeing the bridge completed.
Thank you lovely 🌹🌹🌹
This city is has great bones, we need to revitalize it !
Detroit is coming back to life slowly but surely. Still top 5 biggest metro in America.
It's not in the Top 5 biggest metros. Top 15 but not Top 5
Antoine Moorman wats yall top 5
@@deafsomali Top 5 US Metropolitan areas by population: 1. New York 2. Los Angeles 3. Chicago 4. Dallas-Fort Worth 5. Houston
Detroit is actually the 14th largest metro in America
What a wonderful city boss 💘
Can you make a video on the people mover?
And thanks for such a beautiful video of beautiful Detroit!
Good video...... it would be nice to see Rochester NY on this good quality
Wow! Downtown Detroit looks quite nice actually!
So much light and shine) Thx
Left 2008...wow downtown looks good....313 Detroit for life.....
Detroit is getting nice
I grew up just north of Detroit. I have to say it sure looks better since they got a new Mayor down there.
@@CJ_Detroit I wasn't aware. Its just what I've heard from up North. I haven't lived in there in 30 or more years. I hate Michigan ...so I left.
It's a continuation of progress a lot has happened before the new Mayor as well
Oh,thank you for the video,I enjoyed it.
Come to Chiraq and you will see a lot of that but worse,
LOL That comment was funny to me ( home town Detroiter ) Most of ALL THAT WEALTH you see in Grosse Point Was pulled out of Detroit along with the tax base because those people didn’t want to live around the ANY Black PEOPLE ( regardless of there income ) that moved into there old neighborhoods ... So because of the Generational structural Racism , Detroit was left with a receding Population political power and Tax base . So when these TROLLS come on here debasing Detroit it’s people like them that is the reason Central reason why it has ended up in the shape they claim it is in
What is mid Dec weather like there?
Great ride 😊
I always like when you upload something new 😊
Thank you 😊

Thank you for recording Detroit, I grew up going to clubs and many great music venues here and also in Windsor Canada because you can drink legal at 19 years old. Thank you also including the music scene which was/is always vibrant and of course the greatest food you will ever eat is also here! I miss this city! I truly hope it regrows back to it's once former glory days. They also have one of the biggest used book stores in the world look up John.K books. Oh and I was wondering if you could go through downtown Toledo? That city was also a big music scene back in the day where many bands got their first gigs and became huge shortly after. Oh and another city that is worth seeing for sure is Ann Arbor, MI. Very cool city to check out. Thanks for your videos and all the traveling you do for us!!
Oh and Detroit still has public transportation while some major cities still don't , just saying.
I will visting this city next week, I hope I can having a great time!
