"Regular passengers will pay $14.99 for these meals, but Princess Plus and Princess Premier guests can dine for free. The key here is that pizza at Alfredo's and Gigi's, often named some of the best pies on the high seas, was formerly included in everyone's cruise fare and now incurs a charge.Jul 28, 2023"

When I went on a cruise with my sister and her family, she pointed out an interesting fact. When you cruise it gives you more family time because you're not driving, dealing with traffic, cleaning, cooking etc. In that fact, it makes them worth the price.

I love cruising, to me its the best of travelling with a floating hotel.😊 I started cruising in my 30s and there are a few things that I picked up on if anyone would like this information. So far I have only cruised with Carnival at this point, but I believe that you still take a 12 can of soda on board. I also recommend taking an empty water bottle with you instead of using the small cups to get your water with. Go see the shows they have on board, they are pretty good and have a great time. If you don't get to everything this time, you can go back again which I have done. St.Marrtin, St.Thomas and St.Kitts are my favorite islands to visit.

Here's my funniest cruise story... 30 years ago, my "wildman" cousin and his wife went on a Caribbean cruise By surprise, 2 of his high school friends with their wives were on this cruise! There was a bad storm, and by Captain's orders, no one was to go outside. But, my 'wildman' cousin and his 2 friends decide not to listen. Taking their drinks, they go outside. They're all alone. They make their way up to the top deck jacuzzi. Since no one is around, they take off their clothes, sit in the jacuzzi with their drinks. The storm is blowing all around, my cousin is loving it. All of a sudden, a gust of wind blows their clothes off into the void. They manage to find an employee staircase and head back to their staterooms. (I'm sure cruise employees see all kinds of wild behavior like this). My cousin's wife thought it was funny, but the one friend's wife locked him out of their stateroom. He wound up staying with the other couple.

Dining protips: order as much and as many items as you want in the dining room. Order 4 appetizers and 3 entrees if you want, and they will serve it. Also, if there was an item you enjoyed on the menu yesterday, and its not on today's menu, ask for it. MOST of the time, they will prepare it for you. Cruises are really a great value for a vacation. Even with significant room upgrades, we can still get way more for our money than at a resort with comparable amenities. And we get to travel to different ports and do fun things. It’s some travel to and from home but once we are on the ship, it’s just a matter of going to different places at the right times.

Be sure and purchase cruise insurance. We had a cruise scheduled for April. Three days before we left, I ended up in the hospital with a blood clot. We had to cancel the cruise, and we now have it rescheduled for September. Our travel agent, Lawler Travel Agent, worked very well with us in getting our money refunded. The insurance was only $300. Well worth the cost. Also, purchase health insurance. Your health insurance does not cover you when you leave the country.

Have you addressed using the ships laundry? On our last Caribbean cruise, we did several shore excursions. We came back sweaty and smelly. When they offered a laundry special of “Everything that fits in the bag is a certain price”, we went for it. It was a 10-day cruise, so near the end we washed all of our clothes, even though there was not a special. We arrived home with clean laundry and our luggage didn’t smell like sweat.
We have a 12-day Alaskan cruise in a few days, and we are planning to use the laundry service rather than arm wrestle another suitcase through the airport. (We are seniors).
On another topic. I mentioned to my hairdresser that my hair felt “heavy” on our last cruise. A cruiser herself, she told me to bring a clarifying shampoo as the water on most ships is hard. I bought some, can’t wait to see how it works.

I am glad you are being honest and letting people know what things are not covered on a cruse ship. I'm sure a lot of people do not pay attention to this very important information and then have a hissy fit when they get home and get a huge bill on things they thought was free on the trip.
When I went on the Royal Caribbean International, Cruse Ship many years ago , it was ok. the food was delicious but we always ask if this is included because they will not tell you unless you ask them. I can not believe they charge soda so we drank the free all you can drink lemonad and it was good!
You don't need an expensive cabin because your not going to be in there , your going to want to be out and walking around the ship and enjoying yourself.
Also do not bring anything valuable like expencive jewelry or anything flashy with you on a cruise ship . Last thing you want to be is a victim of thief. No place is safe but on a cruse ship you need to be even extra careful and be aware of your surrounding and never let your guard down because there is always someone looking for an easy prey.

Not all cruise lines have unlimited pizza or ice cream. Don't like having to make reservations to see a show. That should be included. My late wife loved the enrichment activities. You don't pay extra for ANYTHING including specialty restaurants, alcohol, drinks, Wi-Fi, watersports equipment, gratuities, etc! And it comes out to LESS MONEY! You can literally book a luxury all-inclusive resort package including flights for FAR LESS than a cruise with all those INSANELY EXPENSIVE extra charges that a cruise requires! Back in the early 90s, we went on a short cruise on the Big Red Boat to Bahamas before it went downhill. We had a really nice time especially the food. But nothing like these huge boats today. Friend of the lady who went with me were getting married. She recommended a cruise on a bigger line. They had a terrible time. They made no friends. Interacted little with others. Did little. Didn't try any new foods. From what I gather, they didn't want anyone to know it was their first cruise and wouldn't ask questions. Internet was new then so not much online. I felt bad for them. They spent several thousand dollars to be miserable. I definitely recommend getting as much info as one can before even selecting a cruise line. They had no idea what was included and what wasn't. I wish I had this video before my first cruise! I was SO confused and even more confused because a lot of the info online is specific to Carnival and Royal and not so much info about MSC or NCL! But it’s such a nice thing to have these videos and always a good refresher as things are changing. I’m noticing the cruise lines a lot of them seem to not let you bring soda, bottled water, wine and beer on board anymore, so that’s different from what I had always been told! So far I’ve only cruised MSC and they don’t allow you to bring any beverages. I am cruising NCL in the fall and it’s my understanding that they charge a corkage fee for wine and I’m not clear on whether or not they allow bottled water, but I think their private island is not all inclusive - I’m a bit confused on that but I know they’re all so different!
Agreed with everything you said about food! I had no idea what food was included on my first cruise and was so lost. So glad to have this info now!

As a frequent RCL guest I have to say that I preferred CocoCay to Perfect Day. CocoCay used to be a nice, quiet, relaxing beach day. Now it's like a water park on steroids. I realize that I'm in the minority with this view, and that RCL is probably making far more money these days from dockings at Perfect Day, but I still prefer a quiet nap under a palm tree... And we agree that the equipment in the Fitness Center is, usually, good quality and pretty abundant. And we take advantage of the equipment throughout our cruises. Gotta work off those rich meals!

A cruise sounds like a coach tour in the UK,where you get dinner ,bed and breakfast for the duration of your holiday plus day trips ,travel to and from the holiday destination from the pick up point or terminal ,all you have to do is bring your luggage ,yourself and your bank card for spending money with a budget for money every day to spend and tip money for house keeping ,dinning room and reception desk .

9:05 On my most recent Norwegian Cruise Line vacation, I could not find a water bottle refill station, and there were signs at every ice and water (as well as tea, juice, and lemonade) station that said, "DO NOT FILL WATER BOTTLES." Though the signs did not have an explanation, I believe they were hangers-on of the bisphenol A (BPA) warnings on reusing plastic water bottles (as well as baby bottles and most plastic drinking containers) over the last 20 years. This would not affect aluminum bottles (never contained BPA) or most plastic bottles since they are now mostly BPA-free.

If you want an AMAZING vacation without all those insane extra charges, go to an all-inclusive resort instead of a cruise!! At all-inclusive resorts, EVERYTHING IS ACTUALLY INCLUDED! You don't pay extra for Wi-Fi, specialty restaurants, alcohol, drinks, watersports equipment, gratuities, etc! You can literally book a luxury all-inclusive resort package including flights for FAR LESS than a cruise where you have to add on all those INSANELY EXPENSIVE additions! Cruises are a total rip-off when compared to all-inclusive resorts!

Newbie cruising couple here...we did NOT sign up for any WiFi / internet plans on an upcoming NCL cruise. We were told the "included" time was 300 minutes per person per cruise. If we go airplane mode on our phones, etc., does using the NCL app during the cruise to access features there count against that time? 🤔 We're rather use whatever time we have to stay in occasional touch with family at home...
