I can highly recommend to watch a cure for wellness!! The cinematography & story is insane!! Soundtrack and location is top😩🩷I really hope u will watch this movie soon!! It’s really good🩷
I saw a theory that the dad did not survive because when he gets into the elevator, the light pointing up comes on potentially signifying him going to “heaven” while Mia is left behind in the limbo she’s stuck in. This isn’t confirmed because they could have just been on a lower floor lol but would be pretty interesting.
The dad going to the afterlife weirdly makes more sense than him taking the elevator to a higher floor, because what else is up there? His daughter is dead so he wouldn't be going to her room, and he's not in hospital garb so he's not going back to his own. I hope there's a sequel and we get to see what this movies version of heaven looks like.
To save you panic they used a puppet on the dog. At the end of the movie in the credits they have something like ‘no animals were harmed and no dogs were kissed in this video’
So if you notice how the spirits always looks like how they died, the first time Mia uses the hand it's the drowned woman and then most of the spirits she sees for the rest of the movie also look like they drowned regardless of how they actually died. Her "mom" and "dad" were never there and it was just the first drowned lady imitating them the whole time because they were trying to claim Mia.
Don't worry! The dog scene was fake. Combination of a puppet and CGI. But, yeah, this movie had me on the edge of my seat for most of its runtime. It's horrifically good and it has such a good message about drug abuse and peer pressure underneath it that you could also ignore for a more supernatural explanation etc.
I think one additional thing that makes this scarier, is the fact that if this was able to be done in real life, this is PRECISELY what kids would be like and do. It's a little cynical, but it's too real to pretty much be a premonition.
Wasn't expecting this movie to be as insane as it was. Very good horror film but I'm in no rush to see it again. Hereditary made me feel the same way. Loved it but one time was enough. At least for a long while.
The movie makes me cringe from Riley’s accident. About the kangaroo, the ghosts made her to feel guilty for not killing it in the first place. They made her to kill Riley this time.
i saw talk to me at one of regals $5 mystery movie mondays. a lot of people left the theater after the opening scene and after the bit with the dog. i’m still interest to see what they do with the prequel/sequel though!!
I’ve been waiting for you to react to this! I really enjoyed this at the cinema and caught on a few things. There’s actually clues that the ghost of her “mum” was actually the drowned ghost - when she slept with riley, there was gurgling sounds , even when she was sleeping with the hand there was that sound (if i recall correctly) - as the movie progresses, you can slowly see her “mother” morphs into the drowned ghost from the beginning - the hand on the shoulder when she was gonna kill riley also looks like the drowned ghost’s hand At least that’s what i noticed then
Yeah, realizing that the ghost of her Mom was really the drowned ghost in disguise manipulating her to kill Riley messed me up. "I liiiiiike you." Eeeuugh.
Loved your review have watched the movie twice now and it gets better each time. The whole film was filmed in Adelaide modbury hospital, Mawson lakes interchange station and a few other locations. The directors said they flew in people from overseas to play the ghosts etc and they had to quarantine cos the whole production was through Covid. A24 picked it up and had a bidding war with paramount and other companies but the Philippou brothers went with a24. They took a 1m budget cut I think because they kept Sophie Wilde as the lead and she wasn’t well known but she did a phenomenal job they had a 4-5m budget and grossed 94 point something at the box office. Majority of the actors in this have won awards
i loved the ending! i watched it with my brother who didn’t like the ending, he thought it was weird the spirits took her and gave up on reilly? i didn’t think salt burn was bad at all, like i found this to be proper horror and salt burn was more like a psychological thriller?
You may have already read about this, but the whole story is a metaphor for teens playing around with hard drugs: they keep laughing and joking even while taking scary risks, but don't truly realize how dumb they're being until it goes wrong and someone gets genuinely hurt. And just like with drugs, some people can do it frequently without any major problems, while others only need to do it ONCE for it to go horribly wrong. And of course peer pressure and wanting to be seen as "cool" and "grown-up" plays a big part in why some teens first get into it.
I've ARGUED with people about this, who don't agree with that mindset, and that they were just really stupid people 😒🫣😑🤨🤨 Idk how you can't see the metaphors for drug addiction/ abuse
Just a couple days ago I was talking to a coworker about the movie Antichrist and why I won't watch it again. My thoughts began, "It's well-shot, but if you're not a fan of seeing trauma to genitals...". That was all he needed to hear.
I started watching this movie a month ago...and had to turn it off about halfway through, as it was seriously getting me down. I did later finish it, but still...intense as hell.
Can you explain why the doorknobs are so high up on the door? Is it an Australian thing, or just design for the movie? If it's a standard, why? I was thinking maybe for safety reasons...? So children can't let themselves out maybe?
8:31 neva say the C word on FB Did it once but as a joke how Aussies say it i didn't told it to anyone, still got banned for like a week or a few days idk
The experience of watching horror movies really isn't as bad as people make them out to be. The amount of work and that gets put into these is a lot (i.e. the metaphor for drug addiction in this). You get kind of jaded after a while and appreciate the craft whether it's good or not. If you think this is bad, you probably shouldn't watch Wolf Creek or The Loved Ones. They're also Australian horror movies that are disturbing to say the least.
I saw this in the theater with a friend and she almost walked out at the dog scene. I'm excited to show her this. Did it get any easier to watch when editing?
I love this movie, what a ride it was. My only issue is how predictable it is. You pretty much called everything that would happen before it happened. Still a fantastic movie, honestly my favorite horror movie in years.
In regards to the boyfriend. Mia and him dated until the death of her mom. It's implied the trauma and stressed caused her to end the relationship. So he does still have feelings for her. And she does for him. And tbh, it's a little messed up her best friend started dating her ex. especially considering it had only been a year. The hand (drugs) made her feel at peace, closer to her mom. All the friends where responsible for what happened. The kids who brought the hand knew how much damage it caused to other people. They all ganged up on her and singled her out. and at the end of the movie, she was pushed into traffic. It's all metaphors and its all sad.
Another great horror Australian film, and it gives vibes of A24 it’s THE BABADOOK it’s one of the best psychological horror film of the century, you definitely have to watch it, and it’s AUSTRALIAN soooo 😅
I saw this film was with friends in a watch party, and it still haunts me to this day. Never again. 🤣 Firstly because of that dreaded scene during the possession. Secondly because I'm very sensitive and (often dreadfully) "in tune" with a lot, because it runs in my family. The ending of the film is supposedly realistic to what the afterlife is really like, at least in part. There is an existence of being lost, no comprehension of time, and finding beacons of light from people, items or "rituals". Like the candlelight scene at the end. 😭 So that scene resonates with me, they did their research right. The emotion, desperation, and scenarios are scary accurate. People can feel desperate to communicate with loved ones who have passed away. Wanting to know where they are. That's why it is a fantastic film, it hits you in the feels. I understand freaking out over this film. It really gets to your raw emotions.
Hey guys! We're back to horror this week. So happy I'll never have to watch this movie ever again. What's a movie that you found way too disturbing?

“No one wears jeans at home unless they have to.”
Cut to me just chilling in my jeans at home.
As a lazy person who never changes out of my work/day clothes, I wear jeans at home often lol
I like the detail of Mia's dad being American, which would be another reason why she can't connect with him as much as she did with her mom.
Loved your reaction! And also the Stray Kids clips were perfectly placed and they brought another level of enjoyment to this reaction.🥰
Any way I can add stray kids into my videos I will haha

If you slow down the end scene where Mia gets hit by the car, it's actually Jade who pushes Mia into the street to save Riley.
