Appreciate y’all for having me on. Nothing better than talking with a couple like-minded boys from the Heartland!
Your thinking outside the box is inspiring, I don't live to far from the McBees and I can say, in this area, there are a lot of farm operations still operating on Grandpa's methods and business plans, which is fine, but to put your operation on the next level and to be successful as possible, I think times have changed and Steven and Sawyer, you guys really doing what it takes. @mcbeefarms

That was the first Barn Talk I ever watched I thought it was very interesting from the business perspective! Keep up the great work I wish you all the success in the world!!!👍🏼
I worked for a local farmer that started a farm to table back in 2004. He has received a lot of gossip from the other local guys. As of today they now have their own packing and brand which is processing 80 hogs and 20 beef a week. Fischer farms natural foods southern Indiana.
Great product 👌 👏 👍
Yiiieeeeheeeee
As a farmer my self I envy those massive farms but they are truly bringing down the smaller family farms. Every aspect of their operation is cheeper compared to smaller farms in the area. Companies will lower their prices as much as they can to sell them seed, fertilizer, chemicals and equipment but turn around and charge the smaller farms full price. These massive farms save 10-150 bucks??? (Who knows)an acre in inputs and you do the math. They have extra money to pay more for rent and gain ground from smaller farms that just don’t have the budget to pay extra in rent.
However it’s truly impressive to keep track of 40k acres of crops! Kudos to these guys for following their dream.

It's to bad that the government cares more about who owns TikTok and not who is buying up all the US farm land and Farm products. Thank you for what you do.
Don’t forget without China, US ag is screwed. They are the biggest customer .
“I don’t want to farm the world” dude farms 40k and proceeds to act like he’s not a corporate operation
That wasn’t Steve that said that, it was the other dude.
@@jasonbrown2060no it was Steve 100%
They don't get a dime of Socialism money.
That was the other guy. And "corporate " means nothing
Over 90% of "corporate" farms are family run operations that are "Inc" or "LLC" for liability, taxes, and succession reasons. Even smaller scale farms use those tools for the same reasons. "Incorporated" doesn't mean a big company owns the farm, it just means the farm has shareholders that may include people that aren't actively involved in the farm. Perhaps retired parents or children that have left the operation.
Reminds me of guy in Michigan who farmed 80k acres and had all the fancy equipment and grain setup you could only dream of. He had 20 separate businesses and after grain prices got bad and he was getting sued by the bank for $150 million and then we found out that him and his wife were cooking the books and lying to the IRS, banks, and the federal crop insurance about everything. It went on from 2012-2021

With $3 corn on the horizon and lower cattle prices they won’t be around long unless they are cheating crop insurance

@taylor11089 perfect, bring em on after prison I'm sure it'll be a good story. What a bozo, that's too bad, but after hearing some of what he said about their show it's not too surprising.
The main problem to the farmer creating more value is regulation
the insane regulations and cost of infrastructure to butcher and sell your own meats is why the farmers just farm.
They cant afford to control the other end
I recommended this guy on spotify 2 wks ago. Lol. Sounds like he was in the studio wen i made that comment. What a coincidence

I had no desire to activate a peacock subscription, but now I have to. 👍
Just do what i do i pay for 1 month then just watch whatever you want that month an cancel till something good comes out again
I’m not really sure if you are aware of this, but the same reason you are feeding more corn than you produce in your county is because you produce higher quality feed, it requires less fortification to meet the nutritional needs of livestock’. That saves money! The reason you produce better feed stocks, is due to a significant portion of the fertility comes from the livestock the feed is supplying.
Another point I’d like to make. We’re being out farmed by South America. Once they develop the infrastructure to get the product out to the open market, we’re dead.
The key is educating consumers. Every dollar they save on food, is directly offset by other costs, like health care, medical bills, local taxes. The security of local is huge too. Short supply chains being the main focus. It’s a blended approach, because it is important to keep channels open for long distance trade that can be ramped up in times of need. At times, you are going to be exporting more than you are consuming locally to offset shortages in other areas when they experience drought, floods, etc…, but there is no need to do so when it is not needed.
You are talking about hiring. Sir, I don’t hire people, I bring on partners who will work shoulder to shoulder with my children and yet to be born grandchildren, and who will have an equal intergenerational stake in the enterprise. I don’t bring you on as a partner. I’m inviting your kids. I’m inviting the farm families whose kids who stand in snow up to their chins waiting for the bus, who can throw around small square bales, who aren’t whinny and looking at their screens and complaining all the time.
Love the show & most of the content. I try to watch with my wife &/or kids. Not being self-righteous but the F- bombs get old. It's hard for me to recommend you to others unless you can class it up a bit for atleast the short time your on the air. It's called control.
Again, love the content though otherwise. Thx so much
Sadly they don’t know any better. Ignorant fellas.
They can help it. Pure ignorance.
They probably hear worse day to day, just saying
@Toxico45acp It doesn't matter anyway, we & our friends quit the channel over this & don't recommend it anymore.
40000 acres my blood boils as I have watched our local economy change… that is an ag based economy I’m convinced this type of farming is killing the ag industry and small town America
What’s so bad about it? Bigger operations means you have economies of scale are on your side. Grow a farm if you have the grit and brain for it, if not sell it to someone that will. Not everyone is built to be a farmer or a lawyer.
Even if you don’t like it that’s where Ag is going. Forces you to keep up with the times
Guys. Very inspirational… preach and teach young men
@@serafin1797those large operations buying up ground regardless of land price, and regardless of if they will make a profit off of it for 10 years due to how high they purchased it at, make it near impossible for someone to start up an operation. Ground prices are at astronomical numbers in the midwest right now.
Crawl back into your mom's basement and study agriculture and you'll be busy improving yourself rather than talking like a fool!

It is amazing how agriculture producers have to seek out extra income away from agriculture to stay in business. Whether that is spouse with a steady job (also provides health insurance and or retirement) or a business not related to agriculture.
If you have to seek out Extra Income when Farming 40,000 Acres to make Payroll or Pay your Business Expenses than you should just Quit Farming!
Your Obviously doing it Wrong and are Paying WAY to High of Rents and have WAY TOO Many Expenses! When Farming that much Land you have an Advantage that ALL The Smaller Farmers don’t have.
@taylor11089 absolutely! Completely ridiculous
So the trailer for the TV show the dad says there 50 million in debt X 8% divided by 40,000 acres = $100 per acre interest per year....370 employ's wages, health care, retirement plans, and a 165 bushel corn 38 bushel soybeans will pay the bills? Seems pretty optimistic to me...

For everyone wanting some more backstory on the farm, found this from a press release/article related to the new show on the Progressive Farmer website:
"McBee fell deeply in love with Calah Jackson and their love story continues in the newest reality show, "The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys," which takes viewers behind the scenes of the high-stakes world of farming and ranching in McBee's hometown of Gallatin, Missouri.
The show centers around the patriarch of the family, Steve McBee, a first-generation farmer who founded McBee Farm and Cattle in 1998 with farming operations started in 2005. But his lifestyle may be its undoing as his four sons navigate the family business, conflict and a decision from a venture capital firm to invest $100 million in transforming the ranch into a billion-dollar business."
Won’t be doing much farming now that his daddy plead guilty with a 30 year possible prison sentence

I live in Illinois, I know a Guy who has a Massive Dream Farm, where EVERYTHING is Purchased New, Owns & Operates 13,000 Acres (doesn’t Rent but 5 Acres) within 40 Miles of St. Louis and he has Well Over $100+ Million Invested. He also has some Development & Real Estate Holdings.
Also can’t forget Dowson Farms which are about 1 Hour North of me (not far from the I55 Pileup) they Farm 100,000 Acres in IL, but they are Multiple Generation Operation, not a First Generation Farm.
There are a Few Other Farming Operations Local to me in the 20,-30,000 Acre Range and they all Start with Money from Multiple Other Business’s, such as one Family Owns Grain Elevator’s, Fertilizer Terminal, CO-OP, Propane Business, & Banks.

I’m not buying peacock to watch this nonsense.
PLEASSSSSSSSE. DO NOT MARRY THAT GIRL!!!!!!!!!?!!!!!
From the trailer, it looks extremely scripted, and NBC is trying SOO hard to capitalize on any Yellowstone comparisons. They should have either followed a farm that doesn't have a family member with an IMDB page already 😂, or scrap the scripted part amd just do it VLOG style like all the other farmers do.
Small town- crab mentality
After watching the mess on peacock, I wouldn't invest $1 at 100% interest with this outfit. Obviously it's just tv but what an irresponsible, immoral disaster. I'm going to be watching for bankruptcy announcement.
