    why is it always "Prices will rise" and never "Profits will fall", _They_ caused the problem, why are we paying for their greed?

    • @AlOh-2
      @AlOh-2 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The price continues to rise because the private water company now has to build additional sewage systems.
      Too accommodate the new arrivals who all need to use the toilet.

    Their chair and board better be taking massive paycuts for their ineptitude if bills must go up to sort their mess out.

    NOW you understand why Scotland didn't want its water privatised.

    Make them pay for their clean up out of their pay rises! Everyone stop paying you water bills from today.

    ok, so lets ask the question... why for example.. in say... Italy.. a warm hot country... (a country from which in roman times is was a punishment to be sent from to the UK on account of all the UK's rain) manages to have annual water bills of £120-£180 annually ... when we as the UK with all our vast quantities of rain and cloud have to pay a whopping... £408 / annum... and now they're saying they want to raise it by 37%!!!??? All I can say is some nests must be very well feathered.. People should demand an investigation into why everything is so expensive in the UK despite high taxation.
    apparently they "hope that the water companies will use the money to improve the infrastructure."
    This is happening under labour.. the party of the people.

    Private company creates disaster and its somehow the public that has to pay for it?

    I remember when privatisation was packeged as the golden ticket to infrastructure improvements.
    Basically, it has been a 1 off investment for major private shareholders or hedgefund management to keep a money tap pouring.
    And its precisely that they have gotten so obscenely greedy putting dividends ahead of proper management of our water.
    It's basically not that different from how we are run as a country.
    The two cross really well on lots level .
    Uk governments plc Let's our countries assets rot so these people can make us pay them for the privilege ,
    The corporate and political merry-go-round needs stopped .
    The UK Corporate greed modelling is not sustainable not least because wages here are so low .
    Hope its salvageable but the last real hardworking generation is nearly done hence so are we.
    And we have thought to let millions benefit to the detriment of our own .

      Yes, we were told that the profit incentive would save us all money because capitalism and market forces promote efficency and cheaper prices. That is all bs and upside down.

    • @chrislambaa7586
      @chrislambaa7586 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      They tried to do the same here in Denmark with the few things that the goverment controll, which is, by the way, only key infrastructure. Selling it exactly the same way, as privatisation was key to efficiency.
      Luckily, the right wing didn't succeed. After watching this water scandal in the UK for a while, I'm so happy we never got there. What's happening in the UK is outrageous.

    Am I missing something here???

    While these bills are so sad to be going up, we really should be thinking about the real victims here...the shareholders...imagine if they couldnt have their divedends maximized at all costs. The horror of it. I really feel for them

  • @Skygrey2943

    We should renationalise the water. Those wster companies were handed a monopoly and a captive market, and it still wasn't enough for them. They took out loans and funnelled it off to shareholders.

    Labour need to renationalise these key industries. They should never have been privatised in the first place. We're the only country in the world with privatised water like this and look how well it's going for us

      😂 You are all crazy giving your sewage and clean water away to private companies. You're even crazier for paying this, while these companies should be fined billions for polluting the environment. You should fine those companies more than they are worth and then nationalize it.

    Fines? WE end up paying the fines in our bills. They've stolen our money and fed it to their CEOs and shareholders. Renationalise THE LOT. No compensation, they've bled enough money out of us.

    If they actually spent the money that we gave them on mentaining the waterways, which along with the water itself is actually what we pay them for , they would not have to put bills up significantly to cover the maintenance that they have not done, they’ve run the waterways into the ground and now they have the cheek to hold their hands out and ask for more - This is like Oliver Twist telling Mr Bumble that he wants more.

But when the torys were in office, it was the governments fault and you marched endless politicians across the screen asking then to justify all the things the water companies are now trying to raise capital to fix. lol😂
