    You are doing a great job sealing the building. You should ask the HVAC people about an air intake.

      We are installing a ERV, that is a specialized intake.

    Hope it all gets sealed up like your expecting. When we had the aerobarrier done, the largest leak for our house was Bottom Seals of most windows, the Expansion joints on the slab going under the walls, and the penetrations from the HVAC pipes and electrical going out to the outdoor unit.

    I've done insulation work between my normal trade jobs. We always sealed the penatrations like you are doing. I was told if it goes up or out seal it. Up to the attic or out side.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luckily we have zero roof penetrations, I've worked hard for that. And our attic is conditioned because we are spray foaming the roof.

    You may be considering it and I may be too late, but Matt Reisinger uses a spray in the wall cavities to ensure protection from bugs around his houses before insulation. I credible stuff. I'll see if I can find it. Professional grade stuff.

    Milwaukee makes an electric caulking gun with a cordless battery, it just powers the caulk out.
    I think the guns definitely make it easier. I’m with you on the bug thing, they actually make a seal that you can put under your base plates like where you put that foam strip to keep it off the concrete, it’s made to stay semi soft and flexible for decades and it’s specifically made to be a bug barrier. I saw Matt Reisinger use it, But I would definitely consider that. The last two houses I had had problems with those little teeny tiny black ants and they’re so small they can get in pretty much anything.
    There’s another product Matt Reisinger used where they pump air into your house after it’s pretty much dried in a new mask things up and atomizers cock and put it into the air and automatically finds all the little holes and cracks to fill everything and it seem to work pretty well. I don’t think it something you can buy I think it was a company that came out and did it, but basically they seal up a door in the house and put a big fan on it pressurized the house so there’s air going out and then they take a tank of this stuff and pump it into the air and it just cracks and clogs up all the little holes, that was pretty awesome.

    Not sure if it has been mentioned and it might be too late, however have you looked into pre-treatment for termites? I think there is a few companies that will come out and "pre-treat" the wood construction before insulation to help prevent termites in the future. Not saying you need it, but I met an old pest control guy years ago (just a employee, not a owner) who told me there were two types of houses in Florida. One that has termites and one that will get termites. Guess what I am saying is if all that wood was pretreated (not sure the cost) it might save you a nightmare 30 years from now.
