Data Source Level of Detail Function in Tableau (Quick Tip)

  • An LOD that allows us to fix at the data source is so helpful when we need to hardcode an overall total, or create a filter that filters to the latest date in our dataset (that might not be today), and a myriad of other use cases!
    By using the curly braces {} in an expression, we can tell Tableau that we want to fix our expression at the data source.
    I'll walk you through several examples of how this might be helpful to you in this week's video!
