@@smashingsmaze8691 He has pop songs too, like Screaming or Lay Down, but he dimashifies them too a little. But yeah, he can't be considered a pop singer.
I wouldn’t really say it’s opera it’s more of a mix of pop and classical singing. I’m sure he’s more than capable of singing opera but he doesn’t really do opera as much
This is so cool! I don't know much about opera but after watching this I gave it a try and it was so fun and different. Could you please do tutorials of singing in different styles/genre of music? Love you, Tara! ♥♥♥
I've noticed two things when I'm singing in a more classical style (like hymns in a choral setting)... The first is that when I'm doing the puppet head posture and raising my soft pallette I use a lot more breath to get the sound out. Not sure if that's normal. The second thing I notice is that since I'm a tenor, singing in a classical style makes me legit sound like a man... ha!🙈😬😂
Mhm, if that happens then it might be that you are taking out too much air. It happened to me too and so my teacher told me to do a very specific exercise to fix it, the thing is that your chords then need to be like stronger, so that they don't give out more than necessery air, at least that's what my teacher told me :)
@@stella-m8449 Hmmm, interesting... I always assumed that I used more air because my mouth and soft pallette and throat are more open and also it's a much louder sound. I think maybe the increase in volume of sound is making me use more breath. I don't sing like that very often because, like I said, I truly sound like a man, which I'm not a huge fan of...🙉
Do you actually respond to your comments or do you have an assistant? I know that would be time consuming to answer thousands of subscribers for a busy woman like yourself.
Being a classical singer and voice teacher, I can just say that both their tries to sing classical is just technically wrong in every way. They basically added a lot of tensions to artificially darken and thicken the voice. Nothing in this video will bring you even remotely towards classical singing.
Well where's your video mister? At least they're trying to teach those who appreciate and respect the classical arts. You have the right knowledge and training yet you're not teaching it.
@@diwi5823 Where is your video mister? If I would need a video to prove myself, so would you. How else can I know that you have enough knowledge to know that this video is not bad? You can book a singing lesson with me and find out by yourself. That is if you ever venture outside of TH-cam-land...
But can we talk about how classical and opera are different? I agree with the spacing and vowel shapes, but this wasn’t really opera, it was classical (or concert) technique and style. Classical does not mean opera. The breathing, emphasis on largesse, and resonance is different for opera. This is going to give people the wrong idea.
Thank you for explaining that classical does not equal opera. Too many people don’t get that, and vocal coaches on TH-cam don’t help. Even the ones who have classical training, like Tara, like alternating the words. But it’s wrong. The only reason I can think of is that they’re using a word that people can recognize, instead of getting into all the specifics.
Rosannasfriend Absolutely!! And I’m not trying to take away credibility or anything, but it’s just something that HAS to be emphasized. As a voice teacher, I would never let someone think one is the other because the technique is more advanced in opera. You can sing classical pieces, but it’s definitely not gonna be sung the same way. I actually really don’t believe in giving classical or opera singing “lessons” or tips through TH-cam videos. You can explain what is what and what they sound like, but classical and opera are so much more technical with the whole body, it’s something that needs to be worked in person, making corrections as they happen.
@@Rosannasfriend and Brandyn, may I ask you both a question I've been gnawing on? Your classical =/= opera necessarily point triggered it. I've been trying to figure out if it is primarily the use of constant vibrato and its speed that distinguishes pop (sung by a classically trained singer who retains much of the technique) from that opera sound that is instantly recognizable. Choral music and chant are classical technique except for being straight tone, right? 🤔
You should do a reaction video to Epica - Sancta Terra live w/Floor Jansen. That's an awesome illustration of what classic, operatic vocals sound like when properly mixed with very (very very) non-operatic music. Musical styles don't have to be kept separate. They just have to be combined very masterfully, which Epica does brilliantly. So does Floor. Also, you should involve your other instructors in your reaction videos. Jeremie seems like a pretty sharp guy who could offer some good insights, especially in reactions to male vocalists. I'm sure your other instructors are equally solid too.
Hi Tara I think you should listen to more Nightwish and Floor Jansen. Shoemaker is about a Planetary scientist. Floor sings an opera part at the end of the show. Floor sings O Mio Bambino Cara . Nightwish 's Storytime has some opera like parts. Tarja Turneren sings opera and she was the first singer for Nightwish. She also has a whole cd of Ave Maria. Floor sings Stabat Mater Derossa as a duet. I think you should react to Epica ft. Floor singing Sancta Terra. Thanks if can do this or just for yourself.

One thing I've noticed that I wonder about is ... if you listen to different singers performing the same song, they all have the same vibrato. That canNOT be an accident, can it? It bugs me when I hear (and this is not an opera, but bear with me) different singers do "Music of the Night" from Phantom, they all sound JUST ALIKE, right down to the vibrato. Is that a thing that is conscious or is there something about the songs themselves that require it?
So I know that you've already reacted to Queen of the Night before, but I saw a video of a 7 yr old little girl singing it and it reminded me of you. I think you would love it
