    ABOUT INGA BUIVIDAVICE
Inga is a watercolour artist and author, originally from Lithuania and now based in Liverpool, UK. Although art has always been a big part of Inga’s life, she didn't pick up a brush until 2018 whilst on maternity leave.
In the beginning, Inga painted one watercolour sketch a day in her sketchbooks for 100 days and documented this journey on her Instagram page. Inga started spending more time on paintings and doing larger pieces of works. She is mostly drawn to nature and natural objects and likes to explore motion as well as experimenting with geometry and different shapes.

Hello! Her second book wild watercolor is really nice too. It has lots of loose animal paintings. I like it more than her painting calm one, so I recommend it!

Congratulations on a great start to your channel Kay! I’m four years into this journey and am doing it for the same reason as you - to supplement my pension - and we now have 152,000 subscribers so you can do it! I’ll recommend you to my viewers if you like - they are all artists and interested in book reviews. Funnily enough I found you because my next video is going to feature “Painting Calm” and I was browsing to see if anyone else had reviewed it before I cracked it open on Saturday!

@DianeAntoneStudio Thank you so much Diane. I sincerely appreciate your support. It is very kind of you and will be so helpful. I am trying my best to produce one video a week, whilst still working... I really enjoy producing the book reviews and I hope people find them useful. I've received some lovely comments. I always try and find a review myself before I buy a new book. Your channel is incredible Diane. You have obviously put in a lot of time to create so much great content. I look forward to seeing what you do with Painting Calm... Thank you once again.

@@ArtBookNookThanks Kay for your kind words! Yes, the channel takes up a huge amount of time, and I couldn’t have done it without my daughter. She is the businesswoman in our partnership and takes care of the editing as well as all the social media and accountancy etc. She’s probably 90% of the reason for our success. I just talk and paint, and try to have ideas. I’ll mention your channel on the next video I do talking about the Painting Calm book and I’m sure you’ll gain a few new viewers from that. About 20% of my subscribers are from the UK, most are from the US. I don’t know if you’re interested in advice - there’s such a lot out there and a lot of it is very misleading, including VidIQ and Think Media, because it doesn’t apply to our kind of channel. The one thing I will offer you which they say too is “Be consistent.” Upload at the same time every time. Stick to ONE subject and put up as many videos as you possibly can. We did one every day for the first year which got us off the ground. If we hadn’t done that we would still be languishing at about 20K subs. Just my 2cents worth, wishing you much luck! (And beware of videos which go viral - they can kill your channel!)

@@DianeAntoneStudio I am really impressed by your achievement Diane, even more so knowing how long it takes to produce a single video. How lovely to work alongside your daughter too. I am always very grateful for any advice and suggestions, it's the only way to learn and grow. Your point about a viral video intrigued me so I researched it and now understand why, contrary to popular belief, this is not really a good thing. Being time poor, I'm afraid my capacity only runs to one video a week presently, reviewing books from my huge art book library. I try to post at weekends, but the day and time has varied quite a bit, so I will take onboard your generous advice about posting at the same time, going forward. Thank you so much again Diane for your interest in my channel and your support.

I know exactly how hard this road is Kay, and at the same time how rewarding it can be, both financially and spiritually as we find a community which we can relate to and share with and best of all support through hard times. As an exiled Brit I see England having so much trouble and feel whatever little I can do to support people who are lonely and sad is time well spent. I have chatted to my daughter Tamsin about your channel and she did raise one red flag which I want to share with you just in case. Have you looked into the issue of copyright? It is not completely impossible that an author might raise an issue with you about revealing the contents of their book to the public without authorisation. I had such an issue happen with Terry Runyan, who was upset that I’d shown her book and her paintings without her permission. This can be very demoralising for us if it happens unexpectedly so I thought I’d mention it in case you hadn’t thought of it - I wouldn’t have thought of it myself, but sometimes the “younger generation” are more savvy than we are!!

@@DianeAntoneStudio Thank you Diane. Yes, times are very challenging here in the UK, but I believe this is the same the world over? I wish everyone could be respectful and kind and maybe the world might be a better place? Thank you and please thank your daughter for her advice, which I appreciate. Copyright is something I considered, but will revisit this again, as you have mentioned it... The quality of the videos are not good enough for the text to be read. After watching my videos, several people have commented they have gone out and purchased the books based on my review. I do not have any affiliate links, so I am not gaining financially from any book purchases. Two authors whom I've had the pleasure of meeting recently in person, were pleased to learn I've reviewed their books, and a third author, actually asked me directly if I could review her new book. Should anyone ever raise an objection I would always remove the video right away. The last thing I would ever wish to do is upset anybody...

Thank you for you helpful comment and for watching my review. In my case, I often struggle to find the time to paint, but I have now proved to myself , this argument is invalid, as I have made time to produce my book reviews; however, perhaps I am being too hard on myself as my circumstances are different now. I know of no artist that doesn't wish they were better than they are, or wish they could paint like someone they admire. I have abandoned the expection that what is my head is going to appear on the paper. I am more relaxed about the outcome now. I practice on cheap paper first before my brush touches my precious, expensive watercolour paper, but if I mess up, I have recently taken to using the "failure" in a collage, or turning it into an abstract. 🤣 I have heard several artists state they only ever show approximately 20% of their work, the remaining 80% is bonfire fuel. We only see their successes don't we? I have a review of Ray Balkwill's book Painting Atmoshphere with Light. Ray paints in mixed media, using watercolour and pastel. I have enhanced a failed watercolour with pastel in the past, not that this is Ray's method! I am very grateful to Diane Anton, who has been very encouraging about my little channel and given me some helpful advice. Thank you for your kind wishes. I really appreciate it...

Very much enjoy your in depth reviews (as recommended by Diane Antone). You asked for requests…here are just a few: Anne Abgott’s Daring Color, Cathy Johnson’s Painting Nature in WC and Claudia Nice’s books, particularly those that include watercolor. I will definitely look for Inga’s book or her Domestika course.

Thank you for your kind comment and suggestions. I have several of those books and will add them to my list. I need to just warn you about Domestika. In July, they suddenly started automatically adding people to their annual subscription program, without warning and without transparency. People thought they were just purchasing a single course, only to find Domestika had taken an annual subscription from their bank accounts. Because people were not aware they had been added to the annual program, the 30 day "free" trial had come to an end and they have been unable to get a refund. It happened to me, but I noticed immediately, because I always print out an invoice and thought what is this? I was able to get a refund, but other people have not been so lucky. There was no information about this at the point of checkout. I have emailed Domestika twice and asked them to confirm, if I purchase another course, I will not be added to their annual program and they have not replied. I no longer recommend Domestika for this reason, which is a real shame. I hope they change this policy soon, as I fear it will kill their business. 😥

You are welcome. Thank you for watching. My personal preference is for hard backed books where the pages are stiched together instead of glued, because they lay nice and flat over a 2 page spread. These are more expensive to produce and less and less are being made this way. The newer books tend to be paperback with glued pages which don't lay flat without a lot of pushing down, plus the paper quality is often not as good. I expect publishers have to consider production costs and the cheaper format helps keep the price down. Best wishes...
