    I’ve only played with theme decks and have always wanted to learn how to play with a built deck but could never find this kind of information, so THANK YOU sooooo much for this series!!!

    • @HeavyParaBeetle
      @HeavyParaBeetle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Theme decks are only for people starting to play, so they tailor them to make games long. If you get better, i suggest multi type theme decks (still long tho), battle arena decks (rayquaza vs keldeo is the best, really good deal there), world championship decks (they are official proxys so you cant use them in tournaments), or make your own deck.

    I just wanted to stop in to say thank you! My kids recently got into playing Pokémon tcg, my daughter is 8 and has always had a little trouble with her confidence in reading and she was getting discouraged with playing because she doesn’t see a lot of girl role models and I ended up showing her your videos and she loves them. I also was able to show her Piper Lepine winning regionals yesterday and because of great creators and players like you and Piper she’s more than confident enough now and excited to keep playing. Thank you for everything you do!

    Been watching your videos over the last few weeks while I waited to make the jump into getting back into the TCG. As a magic player I have PTSD about rules and honestly just am glad to play something less complicated :). Saw that you had been talking about this video coming in a previous video. So pumped its here and I got my first cards since HS yesterday!!! hope your channel blows up, I love how you have a passion for pokemon beyond the $. I have been a pokefan since as long as I can remember and your energy is infectious, something much needed in these times! thanks so much

    Just wanted to say I only found you on TH-cam a few weeks ago. The video you mentioned at the beginning of this video was how I found you. Now I can't stop watching your videos. I haven’t played Pokémon since about 2008, lost any knowledge of it that I had ever and I recently decided to get back into the whole Pokémon universe, while the video games are fun this is a great alternative that makes you use your brain a little more I love that!
    This video has made getting back into the universe so much easier than it would have been for me to figure it own on my own! Thank you so much!

    These videos are EXACTLY what I needed, I’ve never thought about looking up how to play the card game until today when my friend gave me the Zacian V League Battle deck which spiked my interest into how to actually play this game. I’ve been a collector of Pokémon for most of my life so I have thousands of cards but never really thought about trying to play with them so I’m glad there’s videos like this! Thanks!

You’re the first video I watched about it at all and wow you’re super impressive! I wish I could learn about many other other things from you you’re so clearly intelligent and articulate but playful and funny what a great combo for anyone. You’re intro hello had me hooked instantly you’re like a Pokémon irl super adorable yet not vain or prissy at all love it! My oldest (just turned 7) of five kids has been into Pokémon since she started public school, but all we did was buy packs and she would loose them. I decided, with all these kids, this will probably be a big part of my life for the next decade, so I’m here to learn how to actually play. Thank you, I watched several other videos and have already picked up more from you than anyone else. Subscribed. I’m a sponge.

      I just wanted to come back and say that I have been playing the TCG live app on my phone relentlessly. I’d like to play some real matches but it seems like most people get frustrated if they’re hand doesn’t play out right and quit. I’ll take a slow painful loss before conceding. I don’t get better if I can’t see how play my cards play out.

    I've only just been getting back into collecting this year, and I didn't have much interest at all in competitive or even casually playing the game. What changed my mind was really seeing so many of the Pokemon I liked being so good for competitive play in their tcg forms like Darkrai in the form of Darkrai EX/GX. I basically figured, why the heck not learn how to play it? Can't wait to watch all three of these videos, thank you for making them, I can't wait to really start learning how to play the tcg!

    Last time I've played TCG, it was a base set release.
    Since then I've got no idea what's going on (Psyduck style). With the increase of interest in collecting these cards worldwide I started watching videos on YT and then I randomly came across a video of you in your local game shop in LA, playing and commenting both styles of games (retro and present days formats) and damn girl.... nostalgia hit me hard! It got way more advanced throughout the years but I still wanna feel the thrill of the game.... I wanna get back into it and your video series is exactly what I need! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion! I already have few questions but I'll wait with these till the end of the third part of your tutorial.
    I also travel a lot therefore I'll try to test myself playing in different parts of Europe and USA. Definitely visiting your local store when coming to Los Angeles ;) if that was in LA :P

Recently YT suggested your videos and i watched it and youve completely resparked my love for pokemon tcg!! after watching you i remember how awesome it was even if i was the only girl playing it was fun!! so thank you SO much for being you and continuing to inspiring us!! btw happy belated birthday!!

    Bless you for taking the time and putting in the effort to make videos like this. The depth of your knowledge of the TCG is also what makes your pack openings so much more informative than when collectors or investors, who don't play, open packs just looking for mega hits.

  • @redloops4364
    @redloops4364 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Where was this video when I was a kid! Especially the part about sleeving your cards if you are playing the game. I mean, granted, I wasn’t playing properly, but those cards (some that still have today) got wrecked! Learned so much on this video alone regarding the PTCGO (the lock feature especially I don’t think they explained that!), the tournaments and the Leaderboard, and the clear dice explanation was a fascinating tidbit (can’t believe the lengths ppl will go to cheat, wait actually I can lol).
    Based on this vid I know the series is going to be smashing! I’ve been hearing so much about it in the last couple of videos and the is REAL. Especially considering that I’ve been binge watching all your videos in chronological order for weeks now knowing this series was already available to watch but me being OCD about it wouldn’t let myself watch it until it was its proper turn. Okay this was a looooong comment. Anyway love this. Love you. This is great. You’re great.

    Thank you for all of the work you put into these videos!
    I got back into Pokémon card collecting at the beginning of the year, but your videos convinced me to finally properly learn the game. I started by playing the TCG game on GameBoy Color (highly recommended for beginners who are nostalgic for early Pokémon) and learned the mechanics. Then I started playing TCGO with some friends and found that things have changed a lot!
    I'm excited to go through this series and learn all the important things that are hardly mentioned elsewhere (such as tournament entries, pre-release, etc). Thanks again!

    Bou - I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for this 3 part series... Well I can - when you first mentioned it! I know you worked super hard on these, and I hope they do well for you. I'll be distributing hard on the relevant social channels, Reddit etc to do my best. I'm sure our community will all do the same.
    I love collecting cards, but I've always wanted to learn the TCG. With a super-intense, high-powered job I just don't have the time to rinse and repeat, look for a resource here, a resource there etc to learn. So I want you to know how much I appreciate you putting this series together for people like myself who would absolutely love to learn the game, but are either too busy or too overwhelmed to seek out all the information from 800 different places.

    “Slightly upgraded” is a great understatement for the league battle decks they are essentially blueprints of meta decks starting off get a league battle deck and a trainers tool kit and your good to get going

    • @FrostedCaribou
      @FrostedCaribou  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean...that pikarom league battle out of box would absolutely NEVER be able to compete with a meta deck 🤣 it has some of the pieces of a meta deck, sure. But that deck was awful. Lol

    • @ElasticLove12
      @ElasticLove12 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FrostedCaribou I disagree with it being awful. You could easily get some wins vs meta decks with it but yes it’s not complete by any stretch of the imagination. That being said comparing it to theme decks it is vastly upgraded. It has at the very least the base for an actual meta deck and only needs maybe 6 give or take cards to swap in\out to make it consistent and viable.

      @@ElasticLove12 I agree with it being upgraded that's for sure. That's why I said it was an upgrade. The theme decks come with an insane amount of filler that doesn't help the deck at all. But it's also half the price so it makes sense. The Zacian battle deck is MUCH better than the Pikarom. I played the Pikarom league battle deck out of box and it was FAR too slow to compete with any of the meta decks I went against.

      @@FrostedCaribou its missing draw support Pokemon like dedeene and a better supporter line that's why I said pair it with a trainers toolkit then you can add gust with boss a full research count and two dedeenne that you can search out with the 3 Electromagnetic radar it comes with. with all that being said I feel that you just kinda under-played how much better the league decks are compared to theme decks. Its no big deal just something I thought id point out to maybe influence your recommendations in the future. great video overall glad you took the time to give such a good overview of the game for new players.

      @@ElasticLove12 I think once people actually identify what they want to play they can weigh the decision of buying a much cheaper theme deck just to play at home with family or friends and get to understand the game (go through evolving pokemon etc.) Or get a more expensive battle deck that comes with the pieces to play a more competitive style deck, but that all depends on how they are trying to play tbh. No argue here that the battle decks are more competitive that's for sure lol

    I fell in love with Pokémon back in 1998, an I’m finally trying to learn how to play the tcg just for the love and the enjoyment of Pokémon. Thank you! Maybe I’ll get lucky enough an play against you some day 🤞🏽

    Glad to see you doing so well on here. I first found you years ago on twitch back when you streamed Age of Empires 2 often. Just recently found out you create Pokemon content on YT and thought I'd say hi. Hope you continue to have much success!

    Thanks for the video. For the most part, I’m fairly new to the whole Pokémon game. So far I’ve only played Pokémon online with the app. It’s given me some good information for playing, but you are giving some great tips and ideas. Makes me want to play competitively again as I once did. Back when it was popular, I used to play the STCCG at GenCon when it was still in Milwaukee. Looking forward to watching the next few videos.

    Great video but something I would add when talking about playing with friends is you could also join a league which usually has a set day where people get together and play or trade or whatever. These leagues can be found on the pokemon website just like any tournaments. Leagues are a great way to meet new people who are interested in pokemon TCG and VGC.
