Hi Dividend Bull, I'd love to see a video with your thoughts on some of the Canadian bank stocks BNS and CM. Both have a yield around 7% and have dropped to very fair valuations recently. I've been reading up on them through seeking alpha and most analysts say they are excellent choices right now for many years of income and growth. Would be curious to get your thoughts on this. Dividends are a great thing, but they’re only really effective for passive income when you either have somewheres over 20 to 25 thousand shares of a high yielding stock. Meaning you likely need to have a few hundred thousand if not more invested in it. Re-investing dividends back into the same stock certainly does snowball with compound interest, but you only really start seeing it after 20 years of never stopping and likely needing to add additional money of your own with it….so it’ll be time consuming and costly. The way I see it if you have a million dollars at some point, that’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between 50 to 70 thousand in dividend income
Like Warren Buffet said, dividends are only good if the business you’re investing into can’t make good use of that capital. So if you’re trying to invest into businesses with actual growth, looking at dividends is a waste of time. Why are you investing into a company if they’re returning capital to you because they think you can make better use if it than they can. There’s only one reason, and it is a place to park your capital to pay you a small return with large established businesses because you aren’t trying to grow your portfolio anymore, but to live off of it. It’s not much different from bond investing.

I would think that a major benefit of dividend investing is that calculating portfolio size needed is not relevant. We don't care about the value of the portfolio. We care about the sustainable income it pays. As you invest you can gradually see the income rise as you invest more and pull the retirement trigger when it's high enough regardless of the market sentiment.
By calculating how much additional income the contributions produce and estimating how that income rises. the capital value will fluctuate up and down over time so the amount of income new additions give you varies. so capital value being high with a market yielding 2% is no worse for retirement than the same portfolio at a different timepoints where the capital value is half and so the yield is 4%. so long as the yield is sustainable in real terms the capital value being half does not matter. its the same income stream at a different moment of low market sentiment vs high market sentiment.
Although there are many of chances in the financial markets, I've learnt enough over the previous few years to be sceptical about that. Knowing where to focus is crucial. When I started properly monitoring my investments, I started to amass riches and made over a million dollars in net profit. The importance of professional mentoring cannot be understated. Without the right coaching, people are more likely to make errors and lose money.
I think this is something I should do, but I've been stalling for a long time now. I don't really know which firm to work with; I feel they are all the same but it seems you’ve got it all worked out with the firm you work with so i surely wouldn’t mind a recommendation.
I definitely share your sentiment about these firms. Finding financial advisors like Colleen Janie Towe who can assist you shape your portfolio would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.
I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly. Thanks Claudia Jenkins

Retail and home improvement were some of the hardest-hit sectors during the 2008 crash. We are many years over due for a crash and the country's economic situation is much, much worse than it was in 2007. So, it is reasonable to expect the next crash to be worse, with banks and consumer discretionary (home improvement, retail, entertainment, automobile, cruise lines, airlines, casinos, hotels...) to be some of the hardest-hit sectors. With the inflation we are facing and likely to continue to have in the future, discount places like McDonalds, Burger King, Dollar Store, Dollar Tree...are also being hit hard. Banking is a train wreck. There is huge amount of commercial real estate loans resetting this year. Their interest rates will be increasing, if not more than doubling. There is a massive commercial realestate crash on the horizon. Precious metals and mining, oil and energy, auto parts MIGHT be the right sectors to be in. Although, with a recession, people's energy use might decrease, but it will not stop and many of these companies often pay dividends.
The latest CPI report reinforced a potential end to the interest-rate hikes that have hurt growth for over the past year, making a soft landing scenario more likely for the US economy.Recently sold 30% of my $500k portfolio comprising of plummeting stocks, quite devastating!
In my books not your fault, the stock market seems to be more of a casino for gamblers now than a place for investors. Its your duty to properly research, buying now does not guarantee a rebound
True, proper asset allocation is critical. Furthermore, some folk employ hedging strategies or devote a portion of their portfolio to defensive assets that perform well during market downturns. How else is this achievable except through expert guidance? So far, that’s how I’ve stayed afloat over 5 years now, amassing nearly $1m in return on investments.

My advice for dividend investors is to save for a bigger investment if you really want to retire off dividends, My major picks are SCHD and TSLA and a few more that i can't mention because my FA Emily Lois Parker is really strict on discretion, anyway i digress, You can't expect to make a million from a thousand dollar investment that's where most people get it wrong, It's not a lottery!! Make realistic investments!! People say it's good to be greedy while investing..Yes, i agree but there's a difference between being greedy and being delusional haha. For example last year I invested 80k in stocks and made about 246k, but guess what? I put it all back and traded with her again and now I'm rounding up close to a million.

It has a way to high expense ratio for the div. I believe VYM and SCHD would be better etfs and they are also monthly, but does DGRW have something over them? If they do please tell me what it is.
AMZA is a energy midstream ETF. Pays 0.22 per share monthly. I owned it in past but it was called away from me. Am looking for a pullback to reenter. I am in a couple of ETN (USOI and SLVO) that pay monthly. But these are very risky. I also own BITO and TLTW which pay monthly.

With any stock you want to do better than average and the SP500 (SPY ETF) can be used as average. Also, total return should be used and not just dividends. I compared these 4 stocks for total return (dividends reinvested) from their inception at the beginning of each year to the end on 2023. Of these MAIN & GAIN are above average, STAG is average and ADC is below average because of its recent performance (last 15 years).
Dividends are what got me into investing in the stock market. The thing to me is, if you invest and have other income outside of dividends then you will be able to live off dividends without selling. Which means you can pass that on to your kids which will give them a leg up in life. Have over $600K in my portfolio as I bought a lot of dividend stocks before, I'm buying more now, and I will buy more when it drops further.
As a new investor it's always great to hear from a person who has gone through all the difficult times and come ahead of it. it's unnerving to see your portfolio go from green to red but as mentioned if you have invested in quality names just have to keep adding to them and stay the course.

IMO, I feel the recession is here, although mortgage rates are gradually falling and the Fed just paused but with higher imports and lower exports. Where do investors look at now for wealth gains? something will eventually break if they keep raising interests and quantitative tightening.

Total return, that's what is important. I couldn't care less how often they pay me a dividend; I only care whether it's a good invetment with a reasonable yield.

Wow. I'm a bit perplexed seeing her been mentioned here also Didn’t know she has been good to so many people too this is wonderful, I'm in my fifth trade with her and it has been super.
Their services are very genius and experienced in the market for over a decade and counting, they changed my life from a poor plumber to a better and middle class family man with 2kids.

To enhance our long-term investment mix, my partner and I are introducing a range of stocks and ETFs. We've committed $220k initially, with a particular emphasis on inflation-protected bonds and businesses demonstrating robust cash flows. I see potential for enduring growth in the current market, yet I'm also keen to explore strategies for generating short-term gains.
While the current market offers short-term profit potential, it's crucial to note that executing such a strategy requires expertise and skill.
Having an lnvestment advser is the best way to go about the market right now, especially for near-retirees, I've been in touch with a coach for a year now mostly because I lack the depth knowledge and mental fortitude to deal with these recurring market conditions, I nettd over $320K in profits so far, Its clear there's more to the market that we avg joes don't know that Investment advisors know.

The stock market has been on a tear over the last month on hopes for a dovish pivot from the Fed, but investors like me have seen this movie before whereby i'm left pondering if to sell off 30% of my $450k portfolio which comprised of plummeting stocks or hold on.
I came across some statements from big investors expressing concerns that the stock market rally could be short-lived. My concern is my $600K stock portfolio is still recovering from a dip of almost 40%, how do I navigate these complex situations?
Diversification and a thorough understanding of the market dynamics are crucial, especially during periods of uncertainty. Keeping an eye on both the positive and cautionary signals can help investors
Diversifying your portfOlio is crucial. While having high-quality stocks forms a stable base, it's important to explore additional assets to distribute risk. I can personally vouch for the effectiveness of this strategy, especially when guided by professionals. As an investing enthusiast, I often wonder how top level investors are able to become millionaires off investing. . I’ve been sitting on over $545K equity from a home sale and I’m not sure where to go from here, is it a good time to buy into stocks,/ ETFs or do I wait for another opportunity?
it might be difficult finding the next apple within the tech stock sector, maybe look outside of tech stocks, better still talk to a financial expert

So far, that’s how I’ve stayed afloat over 5 years now, amassing nearly $1m in return on investments.
this is huge! mind if I look up the advisr that guides you please?
I've shuffled through a few advisors in the past, but settled with 'Nicole Desiree Simon' her service is exemplary. I'd suggest you research her further on your browser, sure you'll find her basic info.
I curiously typed in her entire name to search online, I saw that her site was highly ranked and really professional. Thank you for sharing this; it has stoked my desire to achieve my goals again.
Thank you Dividend Bull!
I put it all back and traded with her again and now I'm rounding up close to a million.
with inflation worries growing, and the Federal Reserve taking a more hawkish approach to interest rates and bond purchase tapering, a correction is underway.
Investing in alternative income streams that are independent of the government should be the top priority for everyone right now. especially given the global economic crisis we are currently experiencing
what technique do you make use of ?

Thanks for your video, can you dive into SPYI etf, what do you think about it. Thank you in advance 👍
I know this is about individual stocks, but I do like the ETF DGRW since it does pay a monthly dividend and with dividends and price appreciation has beaten the S&P 500

Sometimes analysis could disguise a stock as a value stock especially when you are considering only the PE ratio and maybe the book value of the stock. I've made some money during these analyses myself, but I still feel like something is missing. I'm starting the year with a 60k portfolio, but I want to tread carefully.
Stock analysis is more than reading quarterly reports. Learnt this from reading Peter Lynch's book. Nonetheless,I believe there are people who do this for a living, and I just delegate the task to these professionals. That's how I make money from the market to be honest.
I’ve diversified my 350K portfolio across various market with the aid of an investment coach, I have been able to generate a little bit above $730k in net profit across high dividend yield stocks, ETF and bonds.
That's fascinating. How can I contact your Asset-coach as my portfolio is dwindling?
I'm hesitant to make recommendations like this online so I can't drop her contact here, but you could look her up yourself and contact her if you wish. Her name is Natalie Marie Tuttle.
I just have DGRW as my core dividend holding for simplicity since I have a long time horizon.

Love GAIN, Love MAIN, O - not so much, STAG works, PFLT also good. No DRIP here, I stack for specials! Do not own ADC yet!😮
Condolences on owning O.
Thank you that means a lot! But the reality is that I will die before this company will. I only get paid 12 times a year - but prefer 16. Well it is what it is!😭
With any stock you want to do better than average and the SP500 (SPY ETF) can be used as average.
As a new investor it's always great to hear from a person who has gone through all the difficult times and come ahead of it. it's unnerving to see your portfolio go from green to red but as mentioned if you have invested in quality names just have to keep adding to them and stay the course.
the idea of a coach might sound generic or controversial to a few, but a new study found that demand far portfolio coaches skyrocketed by over 41.8% since the pandemic and based on firsthand encounter, I can say for certain their skillsets are top notch, I've raised over $500k from an initially stagnant reserve of $140K all within

I bought GAIN at the $ 9.50 - $ 10.00 range, love it, averaging about 10% dividends. Also own GOOD and GLAD.
How long have you owned GOOD, and how does it compare with GAIN?
@@holyhandgrenadeofantioch2019 Owned GAIN for couple years, GOOD maybe 8-9 months. Both seem to be solid companies, I like GAIN slightly better because GOOD is basically commercial real estate which is taking a bit of a hit lately, while GAIN is mostly a financial BDC.
Gain is terrible. Value trap. Avoid this kind of lower-than-inflation dividend growth curve.
Great video. Thanks for detailing total returns as well as dividend income. I am considering opening a position in CEFS -- the monthly dividend looks stable while the price is going up. Any thoughts on CEFS?
IMO, I feel the recession is here, although mortgage rates are gradually falling and the Fed just paused but with higher imports and lower exports. Where do investors look at now for wealth gains? something will eventually break if they keep raising interests and quantitative tightening.
Though dividend-paying stocks don’t offer dramatic price appreciation, they can provide a consistent income stream, I want to spread across $200k into profit yielding dividend equities but unsure of which to get into.

Putting well-earned money into the stock market can be over emphasized for first-time investors, unlike a bank where interest is sure thing! I've never understood this obsession with monthly paying dividend stocks. Unless you've actually already retired they're really not necessary, and even then, if you haven't learned how to manage your income by the time you;re retired, you have bigger problems.
Total return, that's what is important. I couldn't care less how often they pay me a dividend; I only care whether it's a good invetment with a reasonable yield.
They can be used to cover bills so that you can put the money you earn elsewhere.
