      You are a super professional person as well as having a fair eloquence in being able to teach us this beautiful digital art; I would like to know if you can put substitutes in Spanish for me to learn. God bless you, and may the love of Jesus Christ always fill you and your home. Greetings from Nebraska.

    Do you have any advice on choosing the right references and choosing the general mood of the artwork? I've been working on my personal IP for a while, but I find myself just overwhelmed as my references rarely actually help with my artwork except for dictating some shapes (for props etc). Also, would love to see a video on kind of natural indoor situation, such as caves!

    Thanks for another great video, Victor. Question: any tips regarding hard digital looking edges when using the lasso tool to cut out shapes? Like what causes them and what can you do to fix them? Maybe something for another video. Also, I shared your video on my art Discord. Love your work!

    • @VictorStaris
      @VictorStaris  3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Thank you so much queldar! Ok, so there are a few ways to get rid of edges that look like cut-outs. One, you could use the smudge tool here and there, not too much but in some places to give more variation to the edges. Second would be to create a lost edge, by blending the value of the shape you have with the background in some places, this will create a lost edge and give it a more painterly look, also serve the composition if you place it properly. Creating lost edges creates some sort of passages for the eye to travel within the image, so yeah, give it a try. Thanks again for you support, and let me know how's it going!

    I can sketch out an idea and drop flat colors; however, my issue stems from the details and how to match the color mood. When you create the sky and drop the same kind of color onto the objects, are you changing the layer settings?

    Hey. There are a lot of videos out there about concept art and colouring them
    But none actually talk about the color part.
    There a hundreds of different tints of green, how do I know what to choose?
    How do I know what color of green I should have for sunny grass. And if it gets into the shadows, which color should I switch to then?
    Everyone is always talking about "just filling it in with some value" and other floaty terms that mean absolutely nothing to me
    I know how to draw perspective, I know how light works. Just don't know which color to choose, how saturated, how dark, how much blue I should add.
    A video talking about that specifically would be really nice

    How do pro's change their brush size? Do they use the bracket shortcuts or the Alt + right click shortcut?

    • @VictorStaris
      @VictorStaris  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey how's it going! So I found that neither of these worked for me, and I simply assigned different hotkeys for the brush size closer to my hand. I use "F" and "G" for lower brush size and bigger brush size and I hit them with my middle finger, index finger is on "B" brush tool, and ring finger is on "E" the eraser. Something like this basically. I find it easier to control brush size than with the alt-right click, but I figure its a matter of preference in the end. Thanks so much for watching!

    • @VictorStaris
      @VictorStaris  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sway! Thanks for watching! I mostly use two types, either a wacom cintiq 24 pro like in this video, or a wacom intuos medium. I was mostly used to work on a basic graphic tablet like intuos for the longest time. Switched to cintiq to pursue a bit of line drawing and sketching, but honestly for some tasks a simple graphic tablet without screen is better.

    Any tips for brushwork

    • @VictorStaris
      @VictorStaris  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Oof, thanks for watching! Yeah sure, I guess a few would be to start first with broader and bigger brushstrokes, up until you kind of get a feel of the mood and direction. Especially keep your strokes bigger in the foreground and as you reach further in the background you can make them smaller. Try to be economical and don't doodle too much in one place, especially when you don't know how to solve an area, this might cause a slight messy look. Better to move to a different area in the image and comeback later. Don't forget about edge control and contrast in you focal point! These are just a few, hope it helps!
