  • The Intex Deluxe Pool Maintenance Kit comes with a pool skimmer, a vacuum with two pool vacuum attachments, a brush and a leaf skimmer. I fixed the suction issues with the deluxe skimmer as well as figured out how to trap more of the smaller debris and dirt in the skimmer by using a skimmer sock. This helps keep the pool filter clean for longer. If you have an above ground pool you should definitely look in to buying a cleaning kit. Above ground pool maintenance is important to prolong the life of your pool and to keep the water clean and enjoyable. You should be ready to install your intex pool skimmer and use your new pool vacuum cleaner, along with all of the other accessories, by the end of this video!

      You're welcome and thank you! I'm glad you were able to get it figured out. Also I didn't realize it until after I posted this video but there's a reducing plug that I started using instead of a normal plug, it's the gray one with a hole in it. It lets less water through and still fixed the suction issue with the skimmer basket.

    What if I don’t have a second inlet? I still have pressure issues even though I bought the pump index itself suggested to me for my pool to use it with the skimmer…

  • @bt8406

    amazing, the first of a dozen vids i got a statistic (1-5") of how much travel this has. ive seen it work at 0 inches, so thats atleast 5 inches of travel. this is important becuase if your pool drops more than 5 inches (kids playing) and you dont notice, the pump will suck air and self destruct.. is it really 5 inches max? or maybe 6--8? this is what im trying to figure out. Thanks.

    Great video. I purchased a similar vacuum this year but the pole it came with is quite short. Are you using an extension pole. I found the one I purchased at my local pool supply does not fit the vacuum or my brush very well. Does your pole/vacuum connection jiggle at all or is it a nice tight fit? Thanks

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! The intex kit I bought came with a telescopic pole that extends and is pretty long. It does have a slight jiggle to it but it's not loose enough to cause any problems, it still works well. I did have a problem with the head of the vacuum popping off of the body of the vacuum this year though. I wrapped electrical tape around the inner piece and that fixed it. I wonder if you could do the same thing with your vacuum and wrap electrical tape around it right above or below the pins so it can still lock in to the pole? I hope that helps, sorry to hear you're having trouble with yours.

    Hello! I am a new pool owner and have this skimmer. It was working perfectly, up until (I assuming bc) accidentally took the basket out to rid the leaves. Ever since, I'm getting no suction. I've tried everything, even plugging the 2nd valve in attempts to get that pressure back. The file skimmer looks fine, just very low suction- any advice? I'm stumped

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I'm just now seeing this! Did you ever figure out the problem? If not, there's a couple things I can thing of to suggest if you haven't checked already. At the bottom of the skimmer body there's a little trap that catches larger stuff before it goes through the hose. It sits under the basket so sometimes you forget it's there but I've had leaves get stuck there and block the suction. Also, and I'm sure you did this, but is the skimmer hose tightly connected to the adapter on the inside of the pool? If that's all good and you've already plugged the other inlet then I'm not sure what it could be. Make sure you clean your pump filter regularly, I rinse mine off daily but mine gets dirty so fast. When the filter gets dirty it kills the suction. I just upgraded our pump and it made a huge difference, I don't have to plug the other outlet anymore, but I know that's an expensive upgrade.

I am so frustrated right now because I want to vacuum my pool, but I don’t have one of thosenifty little things like you have the skimmer. I’m gonna buy one though.

    Hi, i have problem with my surface skimmer, i got a new and isnt working too... basically i use my pump to clean the pool and it works very fine, but whe i attach the tube to the skimmer he just dont pull enough water inside him.... i dont know what to do... its an intex pool, intex skimmer... my pump have 3800 L/h

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the same problem with mine when I hooked it up. Do you have 2 inlets? On my pool there are 2 inlet hoses. To get enough suction for the skimmer to work you have to hook the skimmer up to the inlet that's furthest away from the jet then you can either completely plug the other inlet with one of the plugs the pool came with that you use when you're cleaning your filter or you can use one of the gray reducers. The reducers look just like the plugs except they have a small hole on he end. At first I just plugged the other inlet but now I just have the reducer on it, that way it still sucks in a little water from that second inlet but most of it is being sucked in from the skimmer which gives it enough suction to work. I hope that answers your question, let me know if you need any more help!

    • @TheNiftyNester

      I had the same problem in the beginning. I started screwing the strainer connector back on after plugging the pool and that holds the plug in place.

    With the skimmer adapter you put on the inlet, will it for to the 1.5mm inlet?

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I believe this skimmer basket comes with an adapter for both 1.5 and 1.25 but you'd want to double check the description on the product page. I know it's meant to attach to different sizes of intex pools and came with attachments to fit different pool types.

  • @OkieBurns
    @OkieBurns 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You have way too much hose. You need to cut it to the size pool you have. Intex says to take it to the farthest side of the pool from the inlet and cut it there. I recommend adding four feet to that measurement so the end of the hose can for sure reach the bottom of the pool at its farthest point. Be sure to remove the swivel attachment from the hose before cutting it. You will need to screw it back on to the end of the hose you keep. Thanx for the video. It was informative and helpful.

    How many gallons per hour is your pool pump? I have plugged my second hole and it still doesn’t pull hardly any water over the top of the ring on the skimmer.

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe it's a 1000gph pump if my memory is correct. I plugged my second intake as well and that helped a lot but I have been thinking about buying a stronger pump this summer. Have you found a solution to your issue?

    • @basiaboyz7257

    Hi my skimmer keeps floating up, am I doing something wrong. Thanks for the video

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the actual body of the skimmer floating up, like it's lifting out of the water? Or are you referring to the inner part, the ring that sits inside of the body that the basket sits inside of?

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had issues with the body of the skimmer kicking out away from the pool and out of the water if I didn't have the clamp tightened down enough to the side of the pool. If it's the ring that bobs up and down inside of the skimmer body then you might need to adjust the depth of the body. There's that arm that it's attached to, and you can slide it up or down to get it to the right height. If it's set too low the inner ring will float out. You want it just low enough that the ring floats about 3 inches or so above the rim of the skimmer body in the water. I hope that all makes sense.

    What setting do I put the vacuum on, while vacuum is on?

    • @TheNiftyNester
      @TheNiftyNester  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by setting. The vacuum feeds in to the inlet nozzle of the pool. It comes with a separate attachment that you screw in to the inlet nozzle and hook the hose to. That hose attaches to the vacuum and the suction from the pump is what powers the vacuum so there aren't any settings on the vacuum itself. I don't know if that answers your question but feel free to leave another comment if it doesn't and I'll try to answer! Thank you.

      I'm sorry to hear that! What pump do you have? I did learn earlier this summer that it was easier if I cut the hose down to the length of my pool. Did you plug your other inlet? Clean the filter before you started vacuuming? If you've done those things already then it could be your pump isn't working as well as it should be or it isn't strong enough. I used this with my 1000 gph pump and it worked fine but worked a lot better after I upgraded my pump to the 2500 gph.
