I too love the idea of a bullet journal but struggle with future planning. I went back to printed calendars for my weekly & monthly planning! I liked and subscribed. I love that double pen loop but haven’t been able to find one…
Thanks so much, Tammy! I found the double pen loop in two different colors on the Baum-Kuchen website. I'm really going to try to figure out a better future planning system in my bullet journal because I really do prefer it to a pre-made planner/calendar. What type of printed calendar are you using?
I’m using a Mega Hobonichi Weeks for my planning but using the blank pages in the back for a bullet style type ‘daily’ for lists and notes etc. I hope that makes sense! Thanks for the info on where to find the pen loops!
Thank you for the flip! I know what you mean being on rings. I've actively chosen a personal ring planner for my One Book July :) LIke you, I also only apply it to my "active" planning and pre-planning. My archives and journals would stay the same. Love your video! It also reminded me that I have to post my setup soon!
I love the inserts from paper penguin Co! I also got the new tomoe river insert, and I haven't gotten into it yet. I opened the onion skin one first and I'm loving that. I've been procrastinating about setting up one book July, and I'm not sure I'm going to participate this year. I've been on 60hr weeks and I'm tapped out on ambition to even do my Journaling regularly 😖 I do like that monthly calendar insert though. Enjoy!
I think you're exempt with 60hr weeks! Yikes! Isn't Paper Penguin Co the best? She has just about all of the premium papers. I'd be curious to hear how you find the new TRP when you're able to dive into it. Thanks so much for watching!
I enjoyed looking at your setup! I have videos out this well, and I've participated in the challenge each year since 2015, except for 2020. This year, I am using an undated planner inside of an A5 traveler's notebook for my business, and I'm making some changes to my EDC traveler's notebook bullet journal wallet. Enjoy OBJ 2022! 🥰
It's a fun challenge, isn't it? I've only been doing it since 2017, but look forward to it each year. Your setup sounds great - thanks for the heads up on your videos - I'm off to watch now!
I am hoping to make a video today! I am using a sojourner as well. I loved watching your set up video and choices- Happy One Book July! PS you are the first OBJ set up video watched this year (not including carie and rhomony!) I will keep a "collection" of the video OBJ's I watch. ;) Naturally!
Oh yay! I always love your videos - especially the OBJ videos! And now I'm off to make a collection of the OBJ videos I've watched! 😂 Thanks so much, Dawn!
That was my first thought and one of the reasons I bought it! It's very close - not quite there, but very close! I don't remember as much variation in the Wildflower leather. Of course I sold mine years ago before I knew Foxy would disappear off the face of the planet. Wish I had kept all of those gems!
I don’t want to pause in my current journal to separate July; but I think what I will do for OBJ2022 will be postponed until I am naturally starting in a new journal (which might be mid-July or August), and my OBJ experiment will be to write with only one colour of ink (I normally use fountain pens and a variety of colours). I will allow myself the freedom to decorate with hand lettering or ink stamping, but all in the same colour as my writing - I haven’t decided yet what colour, possibly a neutral like black, grey, brown or blue; but I have enough pen ink and ink pad colours that I could choose green or purple or whatever. The “challenge” will be to see how I feel about the dramatic change to monochrome - will it have lovely “bookish” vibes or will I really miss adding ephemera and tip-ins and seeing the variety of colours during a flip through (or sometimes on the same page)…and I guess I could still change fountain pens, but will it feel less “fun” in keeping the same ink colour? Have you done this in the past? Any thoughts about it? I really enjoy the OBJ videos and learning from the experience of others; but I always journal in one book, I have attempted separate books and it has never worked out. I have already tweaked my practice over the years (for example, the Bullet Journal method doesn’t suit my needs, but its Index has been a permanently useful feature) and my current method works consistently well; so I don’t have the need to manipulate my method at this time, but I don’t mind playing with the decorative aesthetics rather than interfering with the writing itself.
I love the monochrome challenge - I bet it will be visually striking! Especially since you hand letter and stamp too. Do you have an Instagram where you share any of your pages? Your system sounds very interesting to me. I have been doing One Book July since 2017. For me, it's just always a good reset - a reminder that it's time to re-evaluate my system. I mainly do it for the community aspect - I just love that so many people are partaking in the same "challenge" at the same time. Like you, my system is largely the same as it has been for years now. I know what works for me - sometimes the aesthetic of it might change a little bit, but the nuts and bolts stay the same.
I have done One Pen One Ink months for about two years now, and I love it. I have to think carefully about which pen and ink will be interesting enough and still meet my needs for a month!
@@fearlessknits Thank you for sharing that! It would be my first attempt, coming from the absolute opposite of monochrome journaling ever since I began using fountain pens and watercolour paints and ephemera, years ago (actually ever since childhood journals now that I think about it). I have seen a couple of TH-camrs who use the same pen/ink but that had been their long-established habit and preferred aesthetic. I wondered about what it would be like for someone coming from a different established habit and aesthetic. I also think the few I have seen with one pen/ink have multiple books (separating journal, planner, collections, memory keeping, budget, kids, etc.) so they actually continue to use a variety of pens and colours, just in different books or inserts. I have a one book method (I also don’t have kids, lots to plan, etc.).
really enjoyed your setup! a couple of questions - how do you archive your finished inserts and do you ever have issues with writing in inserts since they don’t really lay flat - or maybe you have a tip for that? I totally understand the way a TN feels so comfortable and comforting :) it just gets better and better with time!
Thanks so much, Shannon! I like to keep all of my finished inserts together in a shoebox. I wrap the ones from each year together in their own string. I am thinking of trying the Traveler's Company Notebook Binder 011 to store them - we'll see as that costs like $15 to store only 4 or 5 inserts and my shoebox is free. 😂 As for writing with the inserts when they don't stay flat, I find the Traveler's Company Brass Clip really helps them to lay a little flatter because it has a little heft to it. Otherwise, I've just gotten used to them not laying too flat and have told myself that's part of the charm. I know that's not very helpful. I'm not one of those people that likes to take my inserts out to write in them - to me, it kind of defeats the purpose of having a traveler's notebook just to take them out. I also be sure to bend my notebooks back on themselves before putting them in my TN - I think that helps them lay a little flatter.
I’m hoping to survive in just my Hobo Weeks this year! Since we’re doing a lot of family visits and maybe some camping, a small kit will be a benefit. But I like your set-up, because I’m trying to add other systems to my Basics of Bullet Journaling class. Hobonichi was easy, as many people like the slight structure it provides. But I think that people who want even MORE flexibility might get a lot of good out of using the original bullet journal system with TN inserts!
Not seeing much. Rhomany shared she wasn't taking part. I saw Accio Bujo (?) with an OBJ2022, but nothing much here on YT. Disappointed because I love watching the videos every year.
Those are the same videos I saw too. Hopefully more start rolling in after an "official" announcement. This is my favorite time of year for TH-cam - it's a Christmas in July of sorts because we usually get a huge influx of new OBJ videos.
Ember, wow! I thought for sure it was Seed. I had to comment that before I even watch any further. I love the leather!
It's such a gorgeous leather - I can't stop touching it!
Omg i know exactly what u mean regarding rings and tns! I feel the same way!

Thanks so much for watching! I can't wait for your setup! I just adore your Weeks videos so it'll be cool to see how you use personal rings for OBJ.
This was a great flip & I love your collections book idea! It’s so neat & functional. I’m prob going to try one out myself! Thanks for sharing!
Yay! Thank you for watching!

Speaking of Foxy Fix, this new leather looks like the Wildflower leather. Thoughts?

I’m sorry but I missed what the new planner books you’re using are called and where you got them. Thank you very much!
Hi Susan - they're the Jiyu Monthly and Jiyu Weekly planner books from Baum-Kuchen online. :)
Is overhang stuff going beyond the cover width or vice-versa? Just got my first traveler's.
Exactly that. Have fun with your traveler's notebook!

I keep a stiff card that’s a little larger than my TN in my notebook. It helps you write when your book doesn’t want to lie completely flat.
Could someone please tell me what is meant by "one book setup" ? 😅
Really all it means is not using more than one planner at a time. 😊
@@APrintedLife ah ok, thank you ☺️
