Wow, the difference between F1 2000 and Formula 1 2000 on PS1 is huge. Must have been a nightmare for kids and parents who may not have realised that they are different games.
Funny story about that i actually personally preferred the ps1 version of f1 01 because of red flags safety cars stuff like that even my dad didn’t mind it and it was one of his first games that he had for ps2
In my opinion, it would be cool if instead of showing the same curve in each game, you showed a different section of the circuit for each game that progresses, but nice video :)
I am playing computer games since 1983 but I could never learn to drive a car viewing from a camera hovering behind it..... In my opinion the best camera angle for a car game is the bonet cam or a cam that shows part of the bonet.... It shows you the angle of the car compared to the road while it still feels like driving. The camera behind the car is like playing pinball trying not to touch the walls.
Not everyone is a SIM racer, a lot of people like chase cams because it gives them a better feel of where the car is... Chase cam usually only sucks on open wheel games as the camera feels planted to the car and it feels very understeery
Back then they actually gave out the F1 license to multiple devs and publishers at the same time, so there were multiple competing games. There was the "Formula One" series by Sony and the "F1" series by EA, plus a few games from others, like F1 Racing Championship by Ubisoft.
You should have started with my 1984 Sinclair Spectrum game. It had a dumbell shape made from about 10 pixels to represent the car and grey track with a few green pyramid shapes to represent trees. 😂
Basically 2014-2024 = no improvement. Also, why did you miss out the Geoff Crammond GP games (first one was released in '91, I believe). They were great.
TH-cam video compression has caused a LOT of damage to the quality. All the blurring and pixelation is more obvious with the later, much more detailed games.
@@Paragleiber Because the title of the game is "Super Monaco GP", and the topic of this video is "Monaco in F1 racing games", I thought that would be obvious.
@@ellpo The video title also says 1996 - 2024. I just looked up those games and it turns out they are from 1989 and 1992, lol. Also Sega is just a lot more niche than PlayStation. Doesn't mean that those games aren't good or interesting but it really shouldn't be that shocking to see a video about F1 games without them.
I suspect it's being played on an emulator and not actual hardware. Most F1 games on PS2 look perfectly stable when played on actual hardware, maybe with a little pop-in in the distance because it's still PS2 but nothing that egregious.
How many F1 Games do you want?
The year 2000: Yes
those were good times to be an F1 fan.
@@KingLich451especially F1 Championship Season 2000 PS1.

one of my friends preffered F1 2000 because he was a massive EA Sports fanboy
@@rideroundandstuffIs he still a fanboy now?? 😅
Well, PS1 game boxes were square while PS2 games were rectangular (I know squares are rectangular, but you know what I mean 1:1 vs 2:1).
@@MrExplorer1989 Both games were PS1, one from EA Sports (shit, looks like a mobile game) other from Studio 33 i think. (better)
Funny story about that i actually personally preferred the ps1 version of f1 01 because of red flags safety cars stuff like that even my dad didn’t mind it and it was one of his first games that he had for ps2
Watching you do that same corner over and over again was more interesting than watching the actual Monaco Grand Prix
Much like the Spa video, Sainte Devote and the run up the hill towards Massenet were noticeably inaccurate in the earlier games.
I cannot fathom F1 1996 looking like that I swear it looked like real life
A 19" CRT TV helps to paper over those cracks. A 55" OLED 4K TV tends to expose them.
In my opinion, it would be cool if instead of showing the same curve in each game, you showed a different section of the circuit for each game that progresses, but nice video :)
I remember playing F1 in 96 on my PS1 thinking life couldn't get any better than this. Unfortunately I was correct 😅
Well done Codemasters. Graphically, literally nothing worth mentioning has changed in the last 14 years.

i feel like better to watc the chase camera from a viewers point of view
*I have Formula 1 '97 CD!! (PC!)* 😃 And this old game has *NO problem detecting modern steering-wheels!!* 😎
3:18 THERES MY FAVORITE ERA!
3:34 and this too.
F1 99 on PS1 has car reflections? impressive.
My man Paragleiber slaying it with the F1 content! Wasn't aware EA was involved with making their games back in 2000. Good to know!
Back then they actually gave out the F1 license to multiple devs and publishers at the same time, so there were multiple competing games. There was the "Formula One" series by Sony and the "F1" series by EA, plus a few games from others, like F1 Racing Championship by Ubisoft.
I've seen your name before! On a video? 🤔 I think on a time trial video! 😃
He must be sweating buckets of adrenaline!
There was definitely contact between the two cars
2:31 is where it gets more better...in framerates! 😅
6:24 is where it became graphically very accurate!
That's an emulator. PS2 is not compatible with 60fps.
@@LeoKinhg PS2 console had various games that ran on 60fps, Tekken 4, Gran Turismo 4, God of War, Burnout 3, MGS2 and many others.
is it the car getting bigger or the track getting smaller every each year ? 🤣🤣
F1 cars are now bigger than ever before
You need to acknowledge the Geoff Crammond F1 games on PC though.
Yes, much much better than the console games from the same era.
Monaco is one of my favourite tracks
Thanks
And please try to do the same with Nordschleife
3:03 My game when I was 5 or 6 years old
2:47 Man, they've put a whole name in there
4:05 those EA Sports F1 2002 sounds were cooking with gas. Studio Liverpool was just cooked
6:10 that's the scottish version of F1, they used a bagpipe to make the engine sound
5:58 best hud

Charles Leclerc finally wins in his home race.
Geoff Crammond's/Microprose Grand Prix 2 was a little gem in 1996
Genuinely great game. So much better than the console games.
@@michaelfoley906 there was also a patch to 98 championship if I recall well, with livreries, pilots, track and so on, really one of the best
5:56 min, the camera shakes are nice
The sound is different in each game..
wow nice. i have a random suggestion which is Evolution of Lotus in racing games
That's a random one indeed, lol. I already have my own plans for many more videos, so I don't think I will have time for that any time soon.
Even the sound of the F1 in the PS1 is better than the actual real cars...
The tyre lock ups on the earlier games. Very realistic 😂
The lack of F1 World Grand Prix on the N64 is disturbing
Why?
@@Paragleiber it was the first F1 game to have sernarios
Formula One Arcade
Eu esperava q pelo menos desse uma volta completa na pista
This really needs the Dreamcast F1 games.
With how small the cars were back then I'm sure Monaco felt just as wide as it looks in the early games lol
Basically 2014-2024 = no improvement.
Also, why did you miss out the Geoff Crammond GP games (first one was released in '91, I believe). They were great.
I haven't played any of the Geoff Crammond games.
12 yo me had Formula One 06 as the pinnacle of modern graphisms, oh boy my memories were better
Why do the new games lack the heat from the exhausts like 2015?
Geoff Crammond's Gran Prix series is missing. How come?
It's just not a series that I own or have played.
I had no idea there were so many games of the 2000.l season.
A Formula 1 2006 sempre fez parte da minha infância, mais comecei a jogar em 2011
Grand Prix Legends owns them all
those turn 1 lock-ups....
The video is more like “Evolution of Sainte Dévote in F1 Racing Games” 🌚
"No heroic into Sainte Dévote please"
F1 05 ❤
F1 24 looksnearly worse than F1 2012
The game or real life?
f1 2012 is the goat of f1 games from codies in my opinion
The graphics in the latest games are much better than shown in the video.
How so? I played them on high graphics settings.
TH-cam video compression has caused a LOT of damage to the quality. All the blurring and pixelation is more obvious with the later, much more detailed games.
1:02 1:21 So Slooooww ! Wtf ?! ^^
Next evolution of monza in f1 games?
No, that will not be the next one.
Why almost every example here looks very slow? I mean there's like 220 kmh and it looks like 60 🙂
Full lap in Monaco?
You want to see that? In which game?
Virtua racing is the real O.G
Formula one 2003 was more realistic in terms of car than 5 or 6 years later games xd
F1 2006 is the best for me
f1 ps1 isnt 1996 season, its actually 1995 season.
Yep. The 1996 is the release year of the game. The cars and tracks are from the 1995 season indeed.
You missed F1 Challenge 99-02 PC, that game was pretty realistic, besides bad graphics.
F1 career challenge is the same game as F1 challenge 99-02
F1 in Real racing 3 for android is good too
It devolved slightly with F1 98.
f1 2000 was far better looking and sim on PC
Formula One 2000
That one is your favorite?
In 3rd person it still looking like a mobile phone game
How so?
Didn't include Super Monaco GP for Sega? what?!
Why is that surprising?
@@Paragleiber Because the title of the game is "Super Monaco GP", and the topic of this video is "Monaco in F1 racing games", I thought that would be obvious.
The second one was called "Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco Gp 2", doesn't get more F1 than that.

F1 1996 literally has a better sound than gt7
Gran Turismo Rules!!!
No heroic into Saint Devote
The best is f1 1997
PS1 F1 games are still most superior of all.
why tf these f1 games look worse on chase camera
Gran Turismo 3 S-8
😳🤬
3rd person racing games don't really work

PS 2 looks horrible, load texture on every corner 😂
