    Claude Schnell is such class act! Take this from a HUGE dio fan: The band was never the same without your keyboard sound.

    Best Dio-related interview ever! I like how Claude is just being honest, and he really does seem to be telling the truth about it all. A musician that should get more recognition today...

    Loved the Sacred Heart album and live show! Nothing better than Dio sword fighting dragons in front of a live audience!

    First time I have heard Claude talk and what a great, talented and then a totally grounded guy. To have worked with Hughes/Thrall and Ronnie James Dio. I only saw Claude in Birmingham U.K in 1984 on the ‘Last In Line’ Tour. If their is ever a proper, full on ( business wise) Hughes/Thrall, I hope Claude gets the call!

    Craig's playing was fabulous on Dream Evil, and the raw emotion and pathos on "All the Fools Sailed Away" is amazing! Based on Sacred Heart I can't imagine how Viv would have been better.

    I didn't know Claude Schnell was involved with Hughes/Thrall band. As I know Peter Schless played keyboards on their debut (and only) album. I guess he joined the band towards the very end. Great Interview btw!

    Rowan robertson was a hell of a replacement as far as being compared to being like viv

  • @woutwout8398
    @woutwout8398 ปีที่แล้ว

    A shame Dio didn't compensate his musicians better. Also a bit too easy to blame everything on his wife, although she was definitely pulling the strings.

  • @patrickarrington738

    Dream evil would not ever sounded better with viv I love campbell but it would have been a sorry album like sacred heart dream evil is a fkn blackmore influenced rainbow album ,imo dream evil is right up there with h d. And lil depending on what you like viv was more gary moore, and craig more richie but here's my thing grunge was on the way and by no means nothing's craig's fault he did a decent job in Philly the guy had little time to rehearse I think after viv was gone ronnie had a vision of being in a blackmore rainbow so it's the owners right ,the live shows did miss the energy but when you pull an equation out the band can be a little out of sync don't blame craig great interview btw claude

    • @MrEricPymm
      @MrEricPymm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Craig is a huge Blackmore fan, so that also played a part in that record sounding more Purple Rainbow-esque. Craig is amazing and a great guy. He's also on at least two of the later era Dio records after Tracy G. He kills on every level

    • @frodofraggins
      @frodofraggins 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Claude was pretty diplomatic in explaining that Craig isn't a great composer. He'd never match vivian as a composer but he does play Vivian's material quite well live. Claude also was clear that Dio was very distracted, most likely by wendy, to the detriment of the album.

      @@MrEricPymm I love DREAM EVIL but like several other DIO albums I felt it lacked good production. Maybe by now a better, inproved, beefed up edition exists, dunno. AI maybe ....

    • @MrEricPymm
      @MrEricPymm 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@frodofraggins I disagree. Ronnie relied heavily on Craig as a composer. None of the guitarists in Dio had the kind of relationship with Ronnie that Craig did. I appreciate your feelings about this, but I have to disagree.

    French is not Lingua Franca. Do subtitles and or just speak English to someone who knows English very well. Are you some descendants from French immigrants that ignored to adapt?
