I drive a stock Fox-body Mustang and at 225 crank hp it's pretty slow. I think the car weighs about 3200lbs. I'm planning on getting it to 300 to the wheels which I think would be the perfect amount. Any modern car with only 200hp is honestly slow (not that this evo is modern).

As a Evo owner myself I can say it's a great car. I wouldn't lower the car, keep the stock suspension, get a new front bumper and build the motor. It'll be a blast to drive.

The Bilsteins and BBS rims are great, an awesome buy for people who didn't get MR's and want some ridiculously cheap upgrades from MR owners who practically give them away. Personally I've found putting on coilovers to be one of the worst mistakes I've admittedly continually made to my cars that actually had good suspension from the factory, the evo being a prime example. This is focusing on performance and comfort of course, but when I see that tyre gap I think great, I'll actually be able to drive around without worrying about destroying the underside of my car.

You don't have to switch my 6speed held 500 tq with no problems, 4th gear goes out on 6 speeds mainly from poor servicing and abusing like on the track. Doing runs here and there it will be ok. And you don't need coilovers especially if you don't track your car. Stock MR suspension is perfectly fine for daily driving. daily driving with coils are just for cool points if your not really using them.
We need to see more of this! JDM Bumper and touch up the front end and its perfect! I would do coilovers and wheels too like you said, you can keep the BBS wheels as track wheels

So I swapped my heating/AC out for a digital unit rather than the analogue, this means your dials can be placed above your radio in basically a double din scenario. I imported the kit from the US to the UK from eBay so they still exist. I believe (and I'm maybe wrong..... because it was a while ago) in the JDM version the dials are above the radio, and the AC etc is where your dials currently rest as stock. Check it out sometime
Here in Bulgaria the 02 Hyundai Sonata was used as a taxi and it came with the 4g63 engine (in manual) . My dad had one it was driven literally 24/7 for 11 years. The car had 600k miles on the stock motor. For anyone saying the 4g63 is unreliable.
I'm not an evo guy, but I believe you can swap the radio and gauge placement. Thought I saw this in an Evo 9 before. Great explanation on the MR, never knew that about the transmission.
The comments you made about the gearbox and suspension and wheels are how I feel, as an 86 owner, about fancy-pants special edition 86's/BRZ's. All the uprated parts on those whoop-de-doo special editions are probably going to be swapped out for better aftermarket parts, so why pay the extra (when new)? Love the channel!
Fun fact... after the evo 7, they were all softened down, and just fast road saloons, and no longer evo's. They were just turbo saloons with the badge on to sell numbers.
I agree with some of the other comments here, they’re is enough or too many custom EVOs and STIs imo, rare models like the 9 will increase in value if kept original not ghetto’d out. This is one of my favourite EVO years even though it’s an 8 with some minor changes, if you value the car, get the 6spd rebuilt stronger, yes might cost more than a swap from a second had 5spd but both had they’re problems and tracking a 5spd will show that up too, less probs but they still need rebuilt of tracked, clean up the car damage issues, but that car is awesome in stock trim imo more desirable and custom in stock than lowered and messed with like everyone else does which might be custom but they’re essentially the same ghettoed, which destroys the rarity, Jmo.
There is so much more to an "MR". Bigger brakes Alloy hood and roof skins ( I think also boot skin with carbon wing center) to lower the center of gravity again. extra body braces in the main frame you would never see unless you completely gutted the car etc etc. It isn't just an standard EVO with a few tid bits bolted on. It is a holistically upgraded car (think 5-10% better in every department)
Same brakes, and all EVOs have aluminum hoods. Trucks are the same. The roof is different though. No other chassis bracing is included. What you keep is the roof.

Gotta disagree abit there regarding suspension. Dont put coil overs on it, but bilstein b8's are a subtle upgrade to the oe billy's.

Rabbon-I The Genesis all Evo 9s came with MIVEC, the MR only had a volterx generators, 6 speed gearbox and had aluminum fenders, hood and roof.
