Hi friends! 👋 Fun to have made a cameo appearance in your Q video 👏So many fabulous tips! Thanks for all the in depth info! Looking forward to seeing you soon. ~ Rhonda and Stan
I was in Quartzsite last week and there is a new Dollar General called DG. Wide aisles and produce. Also the Quail restaurant is under new management and has great food. There are a few new eating places in town which I hear have tasty food. I lived in Quartzsite for many winters and enjoyed my time there. A lot of people go to the large RV show, but there is also a great rock and mineral show called The Pow Wow, many vendors that go to the Tucson show attend. It’s held at the QIA January 15-19. Stop by and enjoy good food and friendly people
I live in Phoenix and have been camping at Quartzsite for over 20 years. My style is weekend, maybe 3-4 nights max, then back home (I've camped in toy haulers, tents, pop-ups, and now a comfy travel trailer over all those years). I also prefer to enjoy the "quieter" times in the desert visiting in Nov/Dec, skipping the peak activity times in Jan/Feb, and then maybe getting another trip in during March for the end of the season. There's really no stress... just pack like you would for any other trip for the days you plan on being away. Okay, that part's easy. Now, resources in town; gas/diesel - I like the am/pm, and while there, I throw out my garbage bag and fill up the cooler with beer/ice. Easy stop and can get a lot done. Propane - I go to Pattie's if I need to refill. Firewood - I go to Woodstock, those folks are super cool and friendly with good prices. I bring my groceries before arriving... but, Silly Al's makes good pizza if you're watching football on the weekend... and Coyote Fresh Foods has groceries/meat counter/and a hot food counter for to-go orders (fish is good on Friday/meatloaf is good on Saturday, and both available with sides). If you want an easy day trip, got to nearby Bouse, and check out the Roadrunner Market. Caveat, I cannot recommend the next door Coachman's Cafe... got sick having a burger there. Otherwise, I chill in the desert and enjoy evening campfires while in Quartzsite. Ham radio is available on Guadalupe Peak or Cunningham Mtn, but kinda quiet. If you camp near Bouse, you can hit the Smith Peak repeater (443.775) to access the AZ Rimlink System. I have heard Hams driving through on I-10 on 146.52 checking in as they go by town to say hello (kinda fun to monitor and catch them as they go by). And, GMRS is sometimes busy with the side x side crowds out on the trails. Verizon (where I camp) is good and I can easily get on D-star using a hotspot. Also, using Verizon, cell texting/email/internet seems fine for me. Anything else? Oh, nearby Kofa and Cibola National Wildlife Refuges are pretty neat to check out for easy day trips. Enjoy your time in the desert, and if you have any questions, let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL & WRXY843

Hey Joel and Deb! We think of Quartzite as a right of passage too! We won’t make it this year though. This info was very helpful! You can keep the snakes and scorpions though. Coffee is a must even if you need a generator to make it! Do you prefer winters in Arizona over winters in Florida?
Hi guys- Quartzsite is so different and worth doing! We personally prefer Arizona over Florida. Florida is so crowded, hard to get into a lot of the campground as they are old & tight and there is the humidity.
I am at dome rock ( free BLM 14 days ) and have 5 bars of T mobile. The Landry Matt in town raised it coast for the big machines to $ 5.50 per load. ( price gouging ) . water in town is 25 cents per gallon. water tested good. Propane at one gas station in town was $ 3.19 . food tent on south side of town is very reasonable for groceries, cheaper than DG and road runner
@@heberbelles916 5 bars of T-mobile is awesome!! 🙌 We couldn't get ours to work last year. We heard about the food tent last year and we didn't go, so didn't feel comfortable talking about it! So appreciate you adding the prices right now! And ouch $5.50!!!
We were just there over New Year’s and T-mobile was smoking fast for a couple of days & then stopped working. We had to set up Starlink then. And bonus is the Yacht Club is back open!! 🙌
These were great tips! We are not going to be staying at Quartzsite this year, but hope to in future years. The weather sounds like Michigan's weather! LOL. - Jim & Michelle
Thanks for the info, I was planning to go for my first time this year and spend the winter. I changed my mind due to security concerns in that area this year due to the illegal traffic heading back to Mexico etc. I retired from the auto industry and have traveled all along the border and all over Mexico so I am very familiar with the area. Being former law enforcement could you address this type of security concerns for this year. I ended up in Florida for this winter, which has been great!
We understand your concerns, last year we never had or heard of any issues with illegal traffic through the area. It is far enough from the border there isn't the foot traffic. However, closers to town in Quartzsite, the LTVA areas we did hear of thefts of belongings left unsecured outside RVs. We had planned to go to Florida ourselves for 24-25 winter, however, changed our minds as we enjoyed Arizona came back to Arizona instead! The illegal traffic is sadly very much organized and avoids populated areas for the most part. Enjoy Florida and what part are you in?
Never been but it’s on the list obviously. I can see staying 2 weeks, probably during the big tent show then moving on. Don’t think the wife would stay a month or more.
We found staying over the show is nice, and we do the same, stay over the show and head down the road. Hope you make someday, as it is an RVs right of passages!
Fuel is not limited in Q, neither is food. If you mean, prices can be higher, yes. 14 years wintering in Q and we've never had an incident of theft or any other issues. People love to spread misinformation about Quartzsite. #1 is coyotes. Snakes are rarely seen between December and March. Fuel stations are at both ends of town as well as in town. There are 5 different propane sellers here. Not much here to block Starlink's line of site. 😂
Thanks for sharing your tips! And we personally know of people that had thefts from outside their RVs last winter in the LTVA area. Thefts can happen anywhere, we all just need to do our best to prevent them from happening in the first place.
We have not seen snakes but we see Coyotes all the time. They have also been known to grab a small dog on a leash. Some of there info is a little off. I do not worry about our stuff being stolen however we always are camping with friends so usually someone is around. Groceries are limited at least good groceries are. We have a place in Q Mountain and the good food becomes scarce a few days into the big show. They did say it was their year. I have never had a problem getting gas but it is still a good idea to fuel up first so you do not have to wait in long lines while leaving. All though we have a place we like to hang out with our friends that come from all over the country. During the first week in January we spend a few days here and there with different friends. It is a blast there and can't wait to get there next week!!
@ We always support being responsible and doing best to prevent being a victim of a crime in the first place & smart to be boondocking in a group! Thank you for the warning about the coyotes!!
@@JudithPrince-b5u We do all streaming, so it works if you have an internet connection. Last year DirecTV worked for us, but we don't use that any more.
Great video guys. Thanks. Also Escapees members. Currently in the Texas RGV, enjoying the beach and sunshine. Need to check out Quartsite someday. Great info.
Quartzsite isn't really 'infamous' - it's actually a huge winter gathering spot for RVers! Up to a million people camp on the public desert land around this tiny Arizona town each winter. It's famous for huge RV shows, incredibly affordable camping (often free!), and a unique community of snowbirds and full-time RVers. Think of it like a winter festival for RV enthusiasts. The primitive desert camping conditions aren't for everyone, but that's part of what makes it special!
I think if you’re gonna make comments on how to plan a quartzite trip, maybe you need to go there a few times maybe a couple years and then you’ll have some better information for people. Not saying that you don’t know the RV lifestyle but quartzite is a lot different.
Quartzsite is unique and we will continue to learn and improve, we wanted to share the information we were worried about last year as newbies for the other firsts-timers coming in for 2025. Just trying to be helpful.
My research says you can just go to California especially Oakland, san francisco, la just lets you camp or live on the streets, empty your tanks on the streets for free! They might even give you free money and cell phone! Maybe im wrong but i have seen lots of videos verifying it.
We have been to Quartzite but they were just starting to set up for the show. Had our solar put on at Discount Solar. Looking forward to seeing pics and videos from your 2025 stay
@@starwoodstudios1 From what we heard the owners decided to close up shop and move back home. So sad as it was a nice place to eat & how fun to be at a Yacht club with no water! 😆
Honor your oaths🇺🇸. We need more public servants who stand for and support the Red, White, and Blue🇺🇸. Not that thin blue line flag desecration culture that has corrupted our public servants mentalities.
@ no problem, I’m already having to pay for your pension welfare check. Might as well help your algorithm and watch comment. Honor your oaths and stop desecrating the flag 🇺🇸
I’ve been in the area for past 5 yrs. Limited fuel? No. Limited laundry? No. I don’t know what your reference is but your comments don’t reflect reality in Quartzite.
This video was for first time RVers coming in for the show for the first time and boondocking for the week of the show. Not geared towards those in the area all winter. We gave advice based on our experience last year boondocking for the week. We said there are gas stations and laundry there, however, best to fill up and have it done beforehand to not have to deal with the crowds during the week of the show.
I'm hoping to be coming to Quartzsite near the end of January. My wife and I have been RVing for a little over 1 1/2 year. This will be our first time to Quartzsite , AZ . We are presently in South California putting in a solar farm . I have all types of Gold hunting equipment ( metal detectors , Drywasher , pans . sulice box and etc ). I would love to find some gold that I could pass down the family. We both are retired I just have people that want me to put in a solar system quite often . I'm getting ready to even let that go as far as design and installation. Would love to meet people and just have a good time. I hope we make it there someday soon. Jeff and Donna
@@jeffsteele1295 Hi Jeff and Donna! Excited to hear you're heading to Quartzsite for the first time. With your gold hunting gear and RVing experience, you're going to love the area. The solar farm work sounds interesting, and it's awesome that you've been helping people set up solar systems. If you're thinking of scaling back, Quartzsite might be the perfect place to network and potentially explore new opportunities, is perfect for meeting fellow enthusiasts and exploring the desert. Hope you find that family heirloom gold and have a fantastic trip! Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
It makes me so sad to see a defaced American flag. It is completely UN-American to change the colors of our flag unless it is for military purposes (black and grey).
The Thin Blue Line flag serves as a tribute to honor the sacrifices of fallen Law Enforcement Officers, and it should be viewed with respect. It make us sad when people disrespect Law Enforcement and are offended by the Thin Blue Line Flag.
@@ChasingOurSunshine Please keep in mind that respect is earned and not given just because someone goes through 6 weeks of training. As for the defaced flag... I'm not sure if you have done your research, or you are just going by other blue line people say, but the thin blue line has absolutely nothing to do with what you believe. The FACT is that it was adapted from the British red line, which is the thin line between lawfulness and unlawfulness. A company in Michigan created the blue line and trademarked it as a sale promotion. So it has nothing to do with your "tribute". Also... keep in mind that according to OSHA stats the public servant job as a police officer isn't in the top 20 most dangerous jobs, so people need to see through the smoke and mirrors. As for disrespect... I think your logic applies where the public servants have disrespected those that fought and died for the flag public servants took an OATH to guard. Lastly... this is coming from a guy that doesn't even have a parking ticket, and has family in law enforcement, but they never would consider wearing a defaced flag. And you're welcome for buying your RV; on behalf of the PEOPLE.
@@gsolo328 The Thin Blue Line Flag does not violate Flag Code since the Red and White Stripes and the Blue Field of Stars are actually Black and Grey. The Thin Blue Line flag is a field of black background separated by a thin blue line. The symbolic meaning of this thin blue line is representative of all law enforcement officers. On top you have the law abiding portion of a community + a thin blue line + and all others who would intend chaos and destruction. The flag represents the police as the "thin line" between the public and danger. It also symbolizes the solidarity of law enforcement officers against attacks from the public, criminals, and critics.
@@RetiredRoadTripping So "The Thin Blue Line flag serves as a tribute to honor the sacrifices of fallen Law Enforcement Officers, and it should be viewed with respect" was not correct? You're welcome...
@@JeffC-t8m You are correct and technical you could run a generator for 24-7, however, it is courtesy hours and respect for others. But if you have to, you have to and can.

Do you guys go to the RTR ?
@@margaretmartin3143 We haven't, we are at Bash!
What about TV?

Why is it infamous?
You can tell you both are glampers !
@@MarEliGomez-mu1zd We are learning to boondock and have been loving it.
My research says you can just go to California especially Oakland, san francisco, la just lets you camp or live on the streets, empty your tanks on the streets for free! They might even give you free money and cell phone! Maybe im wrong but i have seen lots of videos verifying it.
That is definitely one way to go!!

I like your tips but nothing is better than the 2nd amendment will solve most of those problems.
We hold a strong commitment to the principles of the Constitution and the importance of being responsible and safe citizens.
