We became debt free two years ago. We bought a small bottle of champagne and celebrated at home. We felt so fancy drinking our champagne out of small mason jars! 😂
I’ll be Debt free come Friday and I really needed this. Feeling a little somber about not being able to properly celebrate.

I got debt free on March 30th 2020. I saved this up all on my own, so I spend that day also on my own and didn't have trouble with that. However, I did let coworkers and family know. I don't think it's bragging to do that? It's something to be so very proud of. And saying 'hey, I got 0$ again!' doesn't sound all that rich to me, haha. Everyone knew I was paying off debt and everyone was proud of me, yes, but there wasn't a lot of support. People still expected gifts and contributions to wedding gifts for coworkers, etc.
To have it really sink in that I'm out of this, I made a time-line of how much money I managed to save at what time. There was this summer month where I was only allowed to spend 5 bucks a day on variable expenses (food, clothing, etc) which drove me crazy. And then there was last December where I had to sell some items just to give my family members 5€ gifts each, and just BARELY even managed that.
On the day then, I told my best friend about that and we were both proud of me for managing this. And that was it, and that was good. After that, I made a list of little things I'd like to buy and I treat that list just as I'd treat little debts. I save up for the little items first and then snowball to the bigger ones. I have 10 bucks a day on variable spending and the rest goes to growing my Emergency Fund.
I am kind of ... grateful ... to have fallen into debt? It was 'only' 17k (All student loans. Yes, Europeans can get these too). I managed to claw myself out of that hole within two and a half years of aggressively saving, but I learned so much along the way. Nobody in my family has a real Emergency Fund. Nobody in my family would make big purchases in cash instead of installments. Nobody even has a budget. I'm really so much wiser now because of the process, that I have my whole ongoing life to benefit from all I learned.
Baegels. You are awesome! I’m glad you have learned so much and continue to be debt free. l found that out for myself recently, too. Having no money worries is a wonderful feeling! I wish more people could wise up to the fact that you really don’t need that much to make you happy!

We are so close to being debt free! On track for the 1st week in July... woot! Definitely getting some champagne to celebrate. And maybe a cake too... and some takeout! 😆
Another idea: Make an extra donation to one of your favorite charities. When debt free, it's time to give back.

My mind as totally shifted to paying more things off. I’m on Baby Step Two. I did backslide 😒 several months ago, but my savings account looks great. So now I’m working side jobs to pay down my debt. THANKS for the celebratory tips. I look forward to using some of them. 🤩
When we became debt free in March (2020) during the quarantine, we celebrated as a family with a celebratory dinner, a few toasts to our accomplishment as a family, and a group declaration to continue to be debt free. Although we might have been tempted to spend some money after becoming debt free, we have been encouraged by the quarantine circumstances to start saving in earnest.

My gym has been closed so I invested in a bike and I'm getting all the fresh air and sun money can't buy ,😉😁 and I'm exercising yes I did use some of the stimulus money it was way worth it .
We had our debt free baby step 2 moment at the beginning of the pandemic during quarantine. We ended up with our custom cake with our amount on it and texted close friends. No going out to celebrate with a fancy lunch after 2 years of the sacrifice, but that’s okay. Still felt amazing!!
When we became debt free, our life totally changed! We got to decide what our days looked like. No longer forced to trade our time for money. It’s true freedom!! Freedom is the Celebration! Congrats!

When we paid off our home we went to Inn and Out Burger.
We were made for this!! Eating at home, not spending any money, and getting out of debt lol.

My debt free gift to myself was an iPad ($329 cheapest model). Best money I've spent NOW during quarantine i use my iPad for all my zoom meetings and online voice lessons
We paid out house off in December 2019! So we never got to celebrate. We were planning to go to Korea this summer to celebrate. And then corona arrived. So we will have to be patient to go to Korea. I did Bri gains nice desserts to have a small c celebration.
Lieu Hazelwood Congrats! We paid off our mortgage a few years ago. Just installed new a/c and new roof before quarantine. I feel so proud to upkeep our home for many years to come. Now I finally feel I’m enjoying my home, instead of always in the rat race; keeping up with the “Jones”, next door.

Yes the check went to pay off my credit card. Not far to go now.....a small loan, braces for grandson and a little left on my car.
I live in the UK and most people DO hang their laundry outside or inside. A lot of people don't have a tumble dryer. I don't understand why Americans don't do the same. You have hotter weather than us. We have to hang inside all through winter and use the radiators when we have them on. We only use our tumble dryer in emergencies, which was handy when the children were young. Now they are adults we hardly ever use it and if I moved house I would not bother to buy another one. Thank you for great videos.
A lot of places here in usa do not allow clotheslines or if like me you live in an apt we have no yard.

I was brought up in Canada and my mom always hung our laundry to dry. Smells so good. Maybe I should start myself. I work in property management and we do not allow our residents to hang laundry on balconies. Heck some leave their laundry in the community machines for days and then complain when others take it out so they can use the machine.
@@zkatt1959 Why don't they allow clothes lines? People who live in flats still hang clothes on airers inside. Over here it's too cold to hang outside for half the year and usually wet as well.

I’m happy for you Dana, you finally got out of Debt!! I plan to pay off $14k of my debt before September. Then, I will continue to pay off debt on my previous car loan when I start school in the fall.
I have a lot of debt but I know with persistence and determination I will get it payed off in 2 years.

Because of my lifestyle,I am on a paid vacation and have saved all unemployment,stimulus and 500.00 a month from my social security...I have decided to "retire" til this all blows over....have started a huge garden and am reworking my house with what I have at home and could not be happier...
We became Debt-Free with our Stimulus Check!!! We just had a backyard BBQ! Maybe when we finish BS3 we can go out to dinner!! Lol
I don't want you to miss out on the pizza party. Try a Pizza Hut hand tossed or thin crust veggie pizza with no cheese. It's plant based and delicious.
Ahhh, sometimes I order pizza with no cheese and put violife mozerella shreds on it for a non dairy option!! Also lol I get vegan pizza a coupe times a year as a treat from a good place here!

I feel like we ARE living in 1981. Gas prices have dipped to all time lows. Traffic has been light like never before. Saving money, but no place to go. Other than internet, there is nothing to keep us sane.
No to stuff! I am debt-free since 2009!
We became completely Debt Free (including our home)in May of this year and quite honestly, we just quietly celebrated by going out for Pizza and just being super happy. We did not share this information with anyone. I personally do not like to publicly announce things like this although I am saying it here.... we did not tell anyone. There;s a few reasons why we kept it quiet.

I think a recession is coming because several people I know had their credit cards cancelled or the limit dropped to $500 over the amount owed. These are people who pay bills on time. I read where Covid has creditors reevaluating who is eligible.
#Debt Free Dana: Like your videos. Did you know the Roman slaves were paid with a bushel of wheat which was the amount necessary for their whole diet for a month and this provided them with 3,000 calories per day?
I paid off a few Cc and bought some little scented aromatherapy oils. My husband said you bought something? I explained it was reward for debt payments he said (happily) oh you should have gotten more! 🤗

PS. It is better to keep.it to yourself that you are debt free..people basically are jealous and it is really not anyone's business and it will always come off as bragging...cause it actually is,right?
If they give us this money next year there will be no money coming back from taxes.
