The Firestone Radial All Traction 23° is made for much heavier tractors, too many lugs close together. That track looked pretty nice, solid. If it was softer and they were weighted heavier, would pull better, but lack the HP, would have to drop a gear or 2. Notice the winner and even the Oliver 1800 running the smaller Waukesha 310 then the JD381 or JD404, had the older style Firestone Field and Road, a tire that dates back in conception to, this era of tractor actually. Hence, both machines were able to bite in effectively. The JD won, and the Oliver even snuck in to Podium. If someone had snuck out with some old school 45s, on the hard track, they would have gotten a good run too.
most guys dont have 20 different tires... they get what will work good for what they are doing.. some of these guys still use them in the fields.. but yes, the sport has many variables. That's what makes it great...
