    I just can't believe that there are cities when you can comfortably skate with 72mm wheels. It just blows my mind. Where I live anything below 90mm is basically useless. Most people skate 3x110 setup just to be able to enjoy skating.

      I was skating 4x80 for a while and switched to 3x110 and it is so much more comfortable. 4x80 was still fun tho

      @@joshuabgibbs Yeah agree, 4x80 is OK, but I find it a bit slow. 4x90 or 4x100 is my preference. I'm tempted to try the wish frame now, but have my doubts.

    Law, love the vids!! Just about to hit 45 myself and getting back on skates. Agree 100% about starting off slow, rockin some carbon frees with level 3 kizers and having a blast! Keep up the good job 👍👍

    Old school here, 58yrs old on RB tempest 90 mm. Love to agressive city skate. Non rockers so I have to break in my wheels in order to make them spin. Go thru a wheel set in a summer, grinding my rears down to 60mm. So much fast fun!! Great informative video!

    just dug my Solomon st ones out of the garage. going to do the shock upgrade from razors. was thinking at 35 and 60lbs overweight i need some big wheels. this helped a ton.

    Right now im on Roces m12 with Oysi classic frames in the standard 72/60/60/72 setup. Its been the perfect balance of aggressive and Urban. Sometimes i dont want to session the small local park in my area. Its nice to ride around, find a spot, do a couple grinds, then skate on to the next spot. 72mm is perfect for me, not to small to where it’s inconvenient to ride outside the park, but not too big to where i can still comfortably do my grinds.
    Edit: lol you bring them up like a minute after i typed this.

    I'd recommend trying the kizer element 90s, they're great fun and I've used them on tons of UFS boots with no issues. Maybe they are indeed the sweet spot!
    Funnily enough I just got the PS NEXTs as my first dedicated big wheel boot and boy are they hard work. I'm gonna persevere cuz I really want them to be great, but I can tell it's gonna take some fine tuning the setup.

    Love these detailed vidz! At 52 I'm still on the shred till dead program😄🤟 I've definitely done the slam around and find outs like a decades ago forever swellbow and other shin banger lumps and bruises. The years of those don't do that wrong again got me all about the vert ramp knee pads, hockey elbow gear, the crash pad under shorts, wrists, shin guards and of course helmet. Good pads gear is great for less injuries and lessens the fear factor that seems to sneak in with the B-Days.😁 Been big on the daily supps, VitaMix blends and VR boxing kick that's really boosted the fitness and endurance for skating the big miles and the skate park. I skate what I can do to keep the fun happening. I guess it's always been "big" wheels for me. Never really liked anything below 72mm on streets or park when the little stuff started happening. We were modding RB Lightnings to fit 76mm back in the early mid 90s. Rolling at least 3 flat with a DIY H-Block center to inside the 3rd wheel spot. Still worked great for fakie stair rolls too. The bigger 76mm wheels were always so much better/ faster on rougher pavement along with less effort on the mini and half pipe and our industrial park loading dock launch spot. Really hated the little wheels slow factor and how they're so easy to boot out leaning a carve and crossover. I felt like they just made most frames like K2 Fatty wheelbase too tippy short under toes and heels... at least for my size 13s. Just wasn't a fan of the blocky feel of skating anywhere other than smooth skate park with an anti rocker setup just to have a better H-block groove. It's been great to discover Oysi classic 72mm with a nice 281mm wheelbase and giant H-block groove but still roll around as good as my original RB Lightings from 1990. The FR UFR AP has turned out to be the best skate boot I've ever put my big feet in. The coolest big wheel setup I've recently had the most fun riding has been the Iqon Decode Pro 100 set up in it's slight rocker, long frame "wizgressive" H-block mode of 100, 84, H, 84,100. Sooo freakin smooth,stable BUT still super turning agile and fun on the mini and bigger half as well as the streets and trails. Frame looks super long because it is BUT that rocker makes it ride like a way shorter normal frame. The design geometry magic just let's it perform and ride with pretty much all the benefits of doing everything...rec and skate park. Coolest boot and frame combo I've ridden yet. It's a great crossover to my winter of skiboarding Spruce and RVL8 out on the ski slopes and snow parks. Lol sorry for the thesis post... just trying to relay the why I like it details that just might help someone have more fun skating.

    3x110 to handle the surfaces in my city! Some of the guys I skate with, who are way better and more experienced than me, ride 4x90. But I can't imagine going smaller than 4x80 unless you're blessed with incredible surfaces everywhere.

    Great talk about options. As already mentioned by jda79, aeon 80s fit this scope for sure. Great on street but also for riding ramps and landing on coping (extra space between wheel 2 and 3) in the skatepark.

    I remember back in the late 90s early 00s having 3 different sets of wheels for my lightnings…. A hockey set, an aggressive set, and a speed set.
    Depending what I was doing I’d just take 5 minutes and swap my wheels out.

    Powerslide next has narrow boot, so if you have wide feet - try zoom better.

    would it be possible to use 84mm on the 80 compass frame on the UFR boots in the same way you're using 76mm on the 72 frame?

      We make the Compass 80mm frame, which you can find at balancedist.com or other skate shops

    Hey man! Love your videos. Can I ask you a question? I want to but a pair of inline aggressive skates but dont know how they should fit. Should I order the same size as my shoes? Also, should it feel tighter than my shoes or about the same? Many thanks!

    So since the frame length is dependent on the boot size, it sounds like as a women with size 6.5 or 7 feet (in women’s US) my options are really slim when it comes to the combo of grinding with larger wheels. Is that correct? Gahhh 😔

    Do you think if I dremel the souls on my cults, I could put on the 72mm compass blue ridge frames and use bigger wheels like you
    did here? How big is the biggest wheels that would fit?

    • @BacktoBlading
      @BacktoBlading  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those soul plates are pretty limiting. You might want to get the new USD Sway plates and put them on instead. Then any frame will fit.

    I'm a newish rollerblader & want to try learning aggressive on big wheels specifically. the aeon 80s seem ideal (some of the biggest wheels that still have an H block), but dont like the idea of not being able to swap the frames, since I don't want to plan on just buying a ton of skates (they're so expensive ack). The Kizer level II seems perfect but it's an old frame and out of stock in most places- is anyone today making 76mm+ UFS frames with an H block? (maybe someday upcoming from Compass...? ;)

    Will it be easier going from big wheels to smaller wheels? I want to try skate park thinking 58mm. Or 60 smallest I’ve done is 84mm my usuall set up is 4x90

    • @BacktoBlading
      @BacktoBlading  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a weird feeling skating small wheels after big wheels in the same session, but if you spend a day on little wheels it’ll be fine.

    • @EdwardMilsom
      @EdwardMilsom ปีที่แล้ว

      Harder ride but lower centre of gravity, and if you riding anti-rocker you'll feel like you're on rails, a bit less on rails feeling with a flat setup but still there because generally harder compound on those smaller wheels. Bigger wheels could be harder to learn balance on because of height and if you don't know what your correct boot size and tightness should be then longer to figure out. 58mm flat ABEC7 in a skate park you should be fine converting down
