- Welcome to my brand new Flosstube channel.
In this video I'll be diving into some of my recent cross stitch, embroidery and quilting projects and showcasing my upcoming WIPs. I'll also let you have a sneak peek at my ludicrously large stash. You'll also hear about some of the amazing Flosstuber friends that I've met at various trips and retreats.

I, too, am a lone stitcher. My friends I used to stitch with have either moved away or too busy with life. I really miss the fellowship. No one in my family is the least bit interested in my stitching. I am a homebody & can stay home for days and days & be perfectly content as long as I have my stitching, my little dachshund, and Flosstube or an audiobook. Your work is beautiful! So creative! I look forward to more Flosstubes to come!

I’m a lone stitcher, too! My bestie taught me how to stitch more than 35 years ago and she doesn’t stitch anymore…makes me so sad. I’d encourage you to share your stitching on IG as I have a lot of non-stitching friends and family that are following me there… They know I stitch and if they love me they know it’s my passion and if they don’t, they certainly don’t say anything negative. In fact, several non-stitching friends have commented and said how beautiful they think something is. So just go for it, we’d all love to see your finishes up close…You have so many gorgeous ones just in this first FT.
So exciting that you got to meet Stacy Nash! I’m going to finally meet her in July, can hardly wait!

Thank you for introducing yourself and showing so many of your beautiful projects. It’s ashamed that postage has gone so high. In June here in the US the postage is going to increase yet again. It’s just dreadful that it costs and arm and a leg but gets slower in receiving our letters and packages. I started cross stitching 50 plus years ago but stopped when I had my two children. Didn’t have any spare time to myself, then I went back to work when my littlest was 2 1/2 years old. Just couldn’t pay bills on one paycheck. Now I’m retired and have all the time to myself. I to really enjoy just staying at home especially in the 7 months of winter we get here in Wisconsin. So in the summer I ran like crazy all over visiting and enjoying the countryside by car. We’ll nap time . Looking forward to listening to you next month. You did a great job for it being your first time doing a floss tube. Never would have guessed it. Take care, Darlene Creuzer

You just popped up on my youtube page and I decided to take a look. I am so glad I did! Your finishes have inspired me. I have been hesitant to make up my pillows or pin keeps even though I am a sewer (and a knitter). I now have hope. I moved 5 years ago and left my stitching community behind. I discovered Flosstube and it has filled that void. So glad you are sharing your beautiful pieces. Looking forward to spending more time with you!

I am also a lone stitcher. I do have a sister who stitches so I can talk with her about stitchy things but she golfs a lot so she’s often not available to bounce ideas off of. And, like you, my daughters and my friends kind of get that glazed look in their eyes when I try to talk about it so I’ve given up trying. But I’ve found that I’m quite content in my solitude. For my whole life I have done handwork/needlework and it brings me joy. I guess I’m a process stitcher (only learned that after watching flosstube) in that I don’t care much for finishing projects after the stitching is done. One of the recent things that was discussed at my most recent retreat was what you call yourself when you talk to other people (non-stitchers) about what you do with your time. Most people thought the term cross stitching brought negative reactions while needlework or vintage needleworker was thought to be more interesting and, perhaps, more current for today? And actually I’ve really been every kind of needleworker over my lifetime (seamstress, smocker, tatter, French hand sewer, embroiderer, knitter, cross stitcher, etc. I’ve done them all). So I’ve renamed myself. I’ll let you know how it goes! AND, your flosstube was fabulous! Loved it!

Hello Sian, so lovely to meet you , I’m so glad I have. Your first flosstube is wonderful and I loved all your projects. I live in NZ, we are in the middle of Winter so a good time to “ hunker down” and do some crosstitching. I didn’t know what WIPGO was so looked it up and so glad I did. I love the Stacy Nash Animal Crackers and now want to stitch them. I stitch at home alone as well and happy to be at home, especially now since my husband died 4 months ago. I usually stitch on 32# linen but think I may try some 36# , especially if I stitch the animal crackers. Thankyou for your podcast, I look forward to viewing your 2nd one.💕💖🌸

I don't have anyone that is the least bit interested in my stitching , not even my daughter who works & has a husband & young son...my hubby is a truck driver so I'm alone all week...I do babysit my grandkiddos but that's it :-)

Wow! You are so natural in front of the camera. Thank you for sharing your beautiful needlework, this was such an unexpected treat for my Saturday morning. I’ve just returned to cross stitching in my retirement and I absolutely love it. In December I decided to complete a sampler that I packed away in 2003 and now I’m addicted! I’d never stitched on linen before so I’m stitching the HATS little gems whilst working my way up the counts. I’ve just started Eleanor Steele on 36 count and so far I love it. I’m pushing myself because I’m going to the Jeanette Douglas workshop at Fobbles next week and she is using 36 count 🤣🤣. I can’t wait to see your next Floss Tube. I love all of your beautiful finishes, and the way you explain and your beautiful home. I know how it is also about our children (I have three grown daughters and one of them lives in England) and how they are happy for us and our passion but they don't quite "get it". Hello Sian, from Mississippi in the USA. Your first video was awesome. When you said you probably spend too much time alone, it made me tear up and hit home, I knew we could be friends. Your handwork is beautiful and look forward to more. I recently deleted my Instagram, because I realized I was scrolling way too much and would rather spend that time stitching because I too have “sable” issues and need to keep busy. I realized I needed to live my life and not spend it seeing what others are doing constantly, but I certainly enjoy flosstube playing while stitching or listening to books.

Lovely 1st video and I must say, your stitching and finishing is wonderful! I had to laugh at the end where you are talking about not being much of a talker and how you love to stay home, your video proves how much you enjoy your stitching because of how easy it is for you to talk about your pieces and plans. I have 3 girls too and they aren’t interested in stitching either, but like yours, they are in a different time of life. I found you through a shout-out from Brenda and Laura and did exactly what they said to do, ‘pause their video, go find your channel and watch’ and I’m so glad I did! Now I need to go back and finish watching theirs. My soul-mate lives near Falmouth, Cornwall….I hope to be there one day, God willing.

Loved watching your first Floss Tube! I am a monogamous stitcher who fell in love with 1/1 stitching. In the last 4-5 years I have only stitched 1/1 on various fabric counts, my current A Stitch In Time by HATS being stitched 1/1 on 36 count Vintage Country Mocha 😊. Your stitching is beautiful! I’m so glad you started a floss tube! I don’t have any stitchy friends to actually stitch with either, really to do anything, which is a bummer. Sian, a friend recommended you to me and I'm glad she did. What a delightful first floss tube!I have two grown daughters, neither of whom is interested in my stitching, but who are very crafty. I, too, will run things by my husband since no stitching friends are close by. I have subscribed and will be on the lookout for #2.

Love love love your video !! I can so relate None of my kids an only one of my grandkids except one xi stitch and she lives in the UK an I live in New York State USA. Watching all the lovely floss tubers not only makes me happy I learn so much . At my age (73) I think start new meet up,must have,floss,fabric,be fabulous,, an want to have fun. Have a great day !!
