    Really did not know much about a “Graffiti Culture” or however it is known. Not until all the coverage about the huge building in LA being covered with it. I just assumed most was done by kids, the ones who write on the walls at grade school. However it is really eye opening to learn that it is really young adults doing most of the graffiti around town. That realization brings to mind the social behavior badge called the “Peter Pan Syndrome” defined as: “Peter Pan syndrome (PPS), while not a recognized diagnosis, is a popular psychology term used to describe an adult who has difficulty growing up. People with this syndrome exhibit a series of social behaviors, ideologies and traits that are considered immature. In most cases, they may struggle with commitment, maintaining employment, doing chores, keeping up with responsibilities and having purposeful direction in their lives.” Wonder what will come of these guys?

      Graffiti culture has been a thing my whole life. Most of the artists start off with desktop doodles and some have gone on to legitimate art... some stay in the underground. Banksy is in his 50s... almost 60. Art and what is or isn't art is all subjective. One man's beautiful is another's destruction.

    • @Jabpancho-om9sd
      @Jabpancho-om9sd หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BiLdoEMcLown Very true. Much of the "Art" skill is very impressive for sure. The big however is though where the "Art" is applied when the art value becomes secondary to the bragging rights (and subconscious need of feeling that others think ones balls & penis is larger) to be able display ones work on difficult, hazardous and or off-limits forbidden locations. Long-term consequence of indiscriminate tagging is the negative and downward social and cultural stigma of the areas where "Street Art" is everywhere. As seen now the perception is the hood, barrio, ghetto or whatever you call it is expanding and in turn bringing down the status, standards and potential property values of the regular people who live there.
      What say you?

      @@Jabpancho-om9sd I'm a long time lover of street art and graffiti falls into 5 categories for me personally. 1) sticker bombs... this is MY usual style and admittedly it's a cowards method. I'm doing the time consuming stuff at home and slapping my work up wherever someone else already did without covering theirs. 2) stencils... another coward ish method because again, the time consuming part is done in hiding. 3) quick spray tags... these are often practice for and or a precursor to the last two, but are probably the most annoying for people that aren't into the craft because they're often an eyesore. 2) big bombs... full train cars, buses, big wall pieces. This is where the true artistry of the genre lies and something over never been brave enough to attempt because I'm not confident in my abilities. 1) my personal favorite... the "how the fukk did they get UP there" kind... these aren't always the most impressive in their work, but they are amazing. There was a crew or something in the Jersey area in the 90s that was pretty famous for this. Pk kid or kid pk... no one knows for sure but them. Might've been a single person, but the theory is it was two guys with spelunking or climbing gear. What is or is not "art" is completely subjective. It's in the eye of the beholder. Duct tape a banana to a wall in the right gallery and it's art. Do it in church and you're just odd unless it's scored by Danny Elfman and Yoko Ono is screaming in the background... then it's art again somehow.

    Hey have you ever heard of something like this?
    What if I buy some land in the city, I put up big white walls all around it, and inside is a drive way with side walk and a bunch of big white partition walls, and I invite artists to mural them up with some art.
    Then I pitch local businesses to pay me to contract artists to paint their business name on some of the walls as advertisement, sort of like the same concept as billboard signs. Then I add an admission fee of a few bucks, and charge people who want to drive through it to check out the art? And maybe every couple of months, we paint some of the walls white again for new art?
    Good idea, or bad idea?

    • @SuicideStarboyy
      @SuicideStarboyy 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I also dream of owning land/property where writers can come paint as they please like a mecca for graffiti but I don't think you should charge people for admission or to see the artwork. I get it, you gotta make money somehow but this can be achieved by hosting graffiti events, having crew battle contests, and getting sponsorships from brands to help cover the cost of paint, lifts, prize money, etc.

    • @cdabcdefg12345
      @cdabcdefg12345 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Nah not a good idea, even if its painted by sick writers nobody wants to see advertisements, let alone pay to see them. Also I don't think you should be trying to make money off graffiti when you don't seem to be involved in it. Nobody will pay to see graffiti.

    I thought it was teens doing this, but in these docs I see it's all adults doing the tagging. These are grown men and women spending all their lives tagging everything. I noticed that after the Pandemic we had an uptick in "Peter Pan Syndrome" where young people just don't seem to grow anymore. It's a shame that this is all they live for.

    Graffiti Vandalism doesn't look good. It brings down the values of our communities. Despite what yall may think. Too much of this just makes everything look like trash. You can't even appreciate anything. Murals i respect as art. This aint nothing but a bunch of people putting they name on everything trying to be famous. You guys are making our houses lose value. Looks like a 3rd world country. I'll be glad when they raise the fines on this next year. Yall got no self control. Just tagging up everything looks like a cluster of colors all over the place. This with the illegal dumping and homeless crisis. You guys are making things a hundred times worse.
