That's an issue with the second edition of Warpath, there will be some people who went heavy into first edition and weren't happy with that game, then seeing this and now none of their minis work for the game anymore. I like small scale games. I have plenty of Bot War terrain that would work, but not quite enough for a 4x4 or 4x6 table. I'm not going to play Warpath, but I would like some of the minis. Scale is something I’m not keen on but happy for people that like it. I’d rather just play a firefight game with a ton of models that’s the equivalent of a warpath game. More visually interesting to me.
I'm a bit of a fool and backed it partly to get all of my stls. I want to print my models I need for a list and I'm pretty sure these are the 28mm scaled down. So if you want a grav tank don't be surprised to see the stl available to buy and use in firefight. The game does seem just scaled up firefight though which isn't really different. I like my 28mm scale better. The thing I would have rather seen is a spaceship game. Get some of the spaceships in the mantic universe onto the board.
I would buy the STL's if they were all included. I would pay the fee, but to just have the extras, its a hefty price. I would totally be behind a spaceship game, I do love me some Armada!
That’s a really good idea, I agree with that. But, when I look at all the models I have (only speaking for me), I can run all armies in FF. Troops and vehicles. I will say that the heavy and super heavies are awesome, but I don’t want to make my final decision on that. Are you backing it?
@@familyofgamers777 I am, at the lieutenant level. Although I may add the terrain, depending on how it looks when they show it. I literally have only a few D&D minis that I have painted. So I got room for a few models.
As someone who plays a lot of different games, the scale, order tokens and general mass battle feel is what got me to back it. I like Deadzone but don't want to commit to painting anything 28mm with a larger model count, so haven't considered Firefight. Also a reason I haven't gotten into Kings of War. I would be able to get through these very quickly with contrast/xpress/speed paints. If they go this way with Kings I would probably back that too.
I got the deal with two basic armies. I passed on more because I am now backing three kickstarted and did not want to break the bank. It is not as good a deal as previous KSes but it is much more risky so I think it is a good approach.
My only real feedback is that this won't land till 2025... so "I'm currently working on Firefight" doesn't really mean you won't be looking for a new option in 2025... lol... If this was landing next month, be a different story... From my point of view, I think I'm enjoying the option for the smaller scale games, especially related to the terrain, and just so much easier to move stuff... Deadzone is fantastic, but moving the terrain can be challenging... and Firefight has not caught on with my gaming group, so this might be more appealing as a bit a different option. But I do like the thoughts and first reactions.
Thanks, we just wanted to be honest and give our first reaction. The smaller scale is cool, but it is too similar to FF, which I am trying to get going over here. If the game was totally different, then I was all in. I will just play FF, and add heavy guns when they come out.
Going with Asterians instead of Marauders was a huge mistake. Marauders are my favorite faction and i will not play this game until they come out. Hope the game is successful!
I agree, the Marauders are an OG staple of the Warpath Universe. Not sure why the rats are ahead of them. Well, as of now with 8 days to go, you need 50K to get them. Hope it hits the goal!
