Yes but everyone that matters has their own unique voice. She's seen stupidly as pure mainstream because of her necessary success, but Kim Wilde has the best all-round voice in pop and rock. Crystalline, clear, beautiful, feminine, but also emotional, subtly reserved when needed, angry and ballsy when called for, she's all round package, and doesn't need to sound operatic, which, in most cases, is not called for in popular music, and probably held Jennifer Heidi back, though there's no doubt she does that big voice thing brilliantly without overdoing it, not an easy thing to do. All the hags that try to emulate it-Carey, Dion, Houston, Adele smell, the lot, they can't, they just make NOISE, they are NOT musically inclined at all, and their songs are shite anyway. Jennifer came from the synth-pop roots of the 80s with which she fitted in brilliantly, with a good batch of work to prove it, while others may only succeed as a singles act and not an albums act. I'm very selective about whose albums I let in my house, but in the 80s everyone had their own distinctive sound. Voice and material need to go hand-in-hand to succeed, and in many cases, thee 2 don't.
Strong voice of Jennifer with honey detail is fantastic, making a real influence. Every sound, every instrument, every move especially in ballads is very impressive and most songs is dynamic. In such moments it is close to Rock. One of the best albums, maybe the best. I remember 1992 when I listening it for whole night long. Thank you for your work!

Kim Wilde has a beautiful voice and the most consistent album quality of any female. But this is more about just a voice, you can have a great voice but squander it on totally sub-par or uninteresting material. Eddi Reader is an example of a fine voice, Tina Arena too, but totally wasted on the lacklustre, barely noticed stuff they do. What I find is that the 80s were full of females who did great and good stuff, just not the ones feted for it as all the lousy-voiced, overrated and plain garbage ones were beloved instead and still bleeding are. Jennifer put out 5 albums really quick in the 80s considering she arrived quite late in it and was further delayed because most came to her a year or so after her debut was already done, so had to run catch-up. In the 90s her stuff became more soul oriented and lost the pop sheen, made worse by the fact she didn't release the right things as singles, and this album's a perfect example of that. Kim Wilde is the perfect singer cos 1sr and foremost she is a rock and pop performer of great versatility and her albums, especially were full of all sorts of touches. While the base was generally synth-rock, many in-between styles were utilised, psychedelia, jazz/wing, Motown, rockabilly, abstract, hi-NRG, dance-pop, post-punk, futurism, soul, and other things, these can all be found by going BEYOND the single choices and checking out B-sides and other things. Above all it's all sung perfectly, just balanced right, where her range soars, flatlines, dips and soars again depending on what each very different song needs-something you never get from the awful bland, boring (my hubby and me have split up) whining you get with the crap likes of Adele and everything since Carey and Dion ruined the world. Now in my list, as it goes into the latter stages, the voices are less great but still worthwhile cos all these people get into the CHARACTER of a song, and that also means delivering messages subtly without yelling tunelessly and mangling notes out of a shape and hanging on to them as if they were a bloody lifeline, and sounding overbearingly BAD doing it. Kim Wilde is the perfect singer cos 1sr and foremost she is a rock and pop performer of great versatility and her albums, especially were full of all sorts of touches. While the base was generally synth-rock, many in-between styles were utilised, psychedelia, jazz/wing, Motown, rockabilly, abstract, hi-NRG, dance-pop, post-punk, futurism, soul, and other things, these can all be found by going BEYOND the single choices and checking out B-sides and other things. Above all it's all sung perfectly, just balanced right, where her range soars, flatlines, dips and soars again depending on what each very different song needs-something you never get from the awful bland, boring (my hubby and me have split up) whining you get with the crap likes of Adele and everything since Carey and Dion ruined the world. As if Muckdonna hadn't done enough beforehand just to ruin it, but I must say there's one or two howlers your list missed out, and I'm glad. I won't state them, as that would bring them up, and am sure it was an oversight on your part, so lets' just enjoy it.

Keep reading here and there on TH-cam that this beautiful voice was not so appreciated in the U.S. as it was elsewhere. I wonder if it because her voice is as intensely feminine as it is powerful. There has been a general disdain for femaleness in this my country for at least as long as I have lived. A female voice with both womanly sound and great power would probably not be understood and accepted.
I feel she hasn't been promoted properly, to me, Jennifer needed a stronger publicists to get her noticed by the masses.
