No backlash, can cast into the wind, throw any lure regardless of weight, vertical presentation, awesome drag sound.

*Bought a 500 for an ultralight rod. It's very smooth **enjoyable.fishing** recommend casts great. One odd thing- the bale wire is a bit heavy diameter in my opinion for a reel of this size. But a great purchase.*

Always interesting to watch the older vs. newer videos from the folks we all watch. They are always changing and evolving. Brian's recent drop shot video says he prefers a 7'1" Med. Heavy for that application vs. 7'0" Med Light that he was using when he made this video. Good times!

Thanks Brian. There are a lot of anglers out there that look down on spin tackle. I love to finesse fish with my spin tackle and slow myself down.

Hey Brian: Great advice; thanks for sharing. Subbed. This video caught my eye because I love to bass fish with ONLY spinning gear. And yes, I put my money into reels not rods. (I use 3000 size with 15 lb translucent Invisi-Braid and sometimes add fluoro leader up to 20 lbs to withstand rocks and and pike teeth).

I never understood why some people are against spinning rods IT's just another tool there are times when i need casting gear and times when i need spinning gear , Just like a carpenter times you need a hammer times you need a drill it's just a tool. Great video

Another great video. I watch a lot of fishing videos. It is refreshing to hear someone that appreciates spinning tackle. My spinning reels are far more expensive than my bait casting equipment. I'm far more likely to have spinning gear in hand. Everyone of my reels are 2500s.

I'm exactly opposite of most bassers; I detest baitcasters. Even guys that have decades of experience still have to pull a backlash out every now and then. I see people here talking about "mastering' them, but in reality no one ever really does. All you have to do is cast into the wind, lol.
Spinning gear is so much easier to use, and I'm not convinced I "need baitcasters", or particular types of rods or line, etc. Does matching up gear to certain types of fishing make things easier? Yep, i got no doubt. But I'm not competing with pros where every advantage counts, I'm just fishing. I fished plastic worms with a spinning rod and good quality mono like Berkley's Trilene, a long time before i ever heard of braid (60 yrs old).
Don't misunderstand; everyone should do things the way that seems right to them. I'm just and old fart rambling on about how we used to do it "in my day", lol.
I love your channel and everything on it. Keep it coming!

Spiderwire just came out with a translucent braid. I like this line because it is quiet. I still plan on doing the braid to flouro connection, but is white/translucent really a better color than moss green when underwater?

    • @Larry77777
      @Larry77777 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I just saw this video and complimented Brian and commented to him about white/translucent Invisi-Braid. Bass aren't spooked by it (I catch lots using it), so I guess they can't see it. The beauty is I can see it real well above the water.

  • @bengzit

Hello, can you make a video or maybe you already have such a video in which you put together a spin combo, but I'm not interested in the price, I'm interested in the quality, money doesn't matter. What do you think would be the best fishing rod, and which reel would go with that rod?
Once again, the price doesn't matter I'm interested in what's best on the market when it comes to spinning equipment?
    Thanks !!!!!
PS. I am more on the shore fishing , sea bass and stuff

    • @evanmadson

I have two spinning rods, I run 10lb braid with a 8lb fluoro leader on it & then also another setup with 8lb braid to a 6lb leader. From what I understand going slightly under the braid test is the way to go you don’t want to match or exceed your mainline test weight

I picked up the Lew’s Team Pro series reel and couldn’t be happier it’s a freakin Cadillac of a reel I paid around 120. And for line I went with that new Strike King Tour Grade braided line. If you don’t wanna spend over 100, look into the Daiwa Legalis I got one for like seventy bucks and it’s the best quality reel under 100 in my opinion

Hey john by super line I'm assuming you mean braid. That's what I use almost predominately unless I'm long casting in windy conditions. In that case straight fluorocarbon gives me better control.
