🔺We all know the Villa Volta in the Efteling, the first real Mad House in an amusement park ever! But how exactly does it work? Built by Vekoma and co-devised by the Efteling, this attraction gives you the feeling of going upside down, while you actually don't. The biggest illusion in the theme park industry? In Bellewaerde they have come up with a very special version of this attraction, which is themed after one of the most famous illusionists Houdini! In this Theme Park Science, together with Kobe Van Herwegen, we dive deeper into the mysterious world of illusions and Houdini. Together we unmask the secret of the Mad House ¡!

I never knew about the secret escape hatches hidden in the decors of madhouses! Thanks for the insights guys, every time I get more nerd facts I can annoy my non-theme park friends with when we inevitably end up in a theme park again :)

I've operated the one at Six Flags Great Adventure, it's even got the same name and theming as this one.
They really need to work in themeing the park is so boring without any themeing

Ja, het werkt, komt realistich over, denk dat dit ook makkelijk is aan onderhoud, waarom niet? Andere aankleding, dat wel natuulijk.
Hex at Alton towers is one of the best madhouses

Impossible at Blackpool Pleasure Beach has a fantastic Haunted Swing.
@@Hellwyck the ride at impossible is a bit outdated tho, mechanical wise. And the theme basically is non-existent.
Hex tells a story of good and evil, the ride is really just the cherry on top.
Plus, the cue and ride sound track is custom orchestrated for the ride.
Impossible, I'm not sure actually. Sounds like generic music in the background tho

I got on this same ride at Six Flags Great adventure in New Jersey! It was creepy and cool Af!! I love Houdini
And I love the Houdini's Great Escape up in Six Flags New England. If anything I'm surprised that the set dressing of the room, and especially the pre-show is all the same. Though our benches distinctly do not have the metal cagework at the top.
That is like a travelling fair ride we had here in the 70s/80s called the Rib Tickler. the drum was spun manually by the ride operator around while the chairs rocked back n forth....made many a rider vomit 🤣🤣

I especially love how the MadHouse can tell a story (one of the coolest is HEX at Alton Towers). Unfortunately, I don't think one exists in North America

@@ThemeParkScienceOfficialTwo! One at Six Flags Great Adventure and one at Six Flags New England! The SFGA one is slightly better as it has a crystal ball with a projection of Houdini in it, but other than that they are almost identical.
