So the real reason the G1 cartoon is remembered fondly is this. A multi-part story in which the Decepticons had a cohesive plan (even though really, REALLY nerfed to be appropriate for kids) was both perfectly evil and competent. The Autobots all had individual personalities, and Optimus Prime was established as a leader. (HOW could executives have thought his toy was disposable for the 1986 movie after doing this?) Credit to Flint Dille, who had been writing Dungeons and Dragons, who understood the importance of differentiated personalities and alignment charts, etc. The story is iconic for the series. Megatron always has complicated plans, etc., and the Autobots have to stop him. I'd say it was the most well-thought out screenplay of the G1 cartoon. It's why it was better than other cartoons, and the comics never quite had this depth. (Even with Starscream acting like a six year-old.)
It is, though, why Optimus Prime's death in the movie was such an impactful moment for children of my generation. I still remember how quiet and contemplative I was coming out of the theater.
Would've been better if the female autobots and the rainmakers made a quick return during the Cybertron battle. But to think this had more "realism" in Cybertron causing catastrophic gravitational damage, than even Michael's Bayformers w/Dark of the Moon and The Last Knight w/Cybertron at Earth's (or Unicron's) doorstep twice.
I can't believe I missed how cool Brawn was when I was a kid. That moment when... Soundwave: TAKE THEM. Brawn: I don't *take* so easy. Then he body slams two seekers down. And I subscribe to the school of thought that Brawn didn't die in the movie but was just injured and couldn't stop Megatron. No way an autobot that tough would go down to one shot to the shoulder.
That creepy and awesome moment when Archevil is hanging from a metal fragment and Starscream pops out, and transforms in that very unique music queue at 10:14
He had some pretty good lines as Ray in ghostbusters ... I think Frank was so damn good they always gave him the best lines because they knew he could pull it off

I watched these with my dad. He had the dvd collection, I’m gonna have to find that. He can’t wait to watch these with his grandchildren and the last unicorn 🦄 . The first season actually had the best quality animation called Toei. Subsequent seasons went with an inferior quality company and it shows. That second company had a notorious reputation for animation errors. Good old fashioned hand drawn animation, even if it was sourced overseas.

The two Decepticon cars pursuing Wheeljack, Bumblebee, Trailbreaker, & Brawn on Cybertron could be Runaround & Runamuck from the G1 Season 3 Episode Ghost In The Machine.
Brawn and Skyfire were the heroes in this 3-part series. Brawn despite being a smaller bot managed to take out Soundwave and 3 other larger bots while Skyfire took out the lasers and bested Shockwave in a one-one fight.
God, I remember the whole Sparkplug being brainwashed thing and how gratifying it was to see him and Spike reunited at the end. One of G1's greatest payoffs/moments.
I had this episode on VHS back in the day. They cut it down to 60 mins though, so lot's of stuff was missing from that version. Thanks hasbro pulse for putting these up! Season 2 next please!
Ya know i didn't grew up with G1 but its really Awesome to watch it after so many Years hearing many things about it My First Encounter with TF was actually the 2007 Bayverse Movie but Animated kept me in this Franchise and Prime was the Time i was really Invested in it so TFP is my G1. I fell in Love with it and its my Favourite Franchise to this very day. Yeah G1 didn't Age that well Especially compared to the Other Shows...but i have my Fun with it and seeing how these Classic Characters Started out is very interesting and shows how much TransFormers as a whole has grown... Though we had a lot of G1 stuff in the WFC Trilogy Toy Line and Show i would actually Love a Remake of G1 -Animation from the WFC Trilogy or Prime -More Fleshed out Characters -A bit more Complicated Plot but keep as much from the Original as Possible -Try to get most of the OG Voice Actors, for those who sadly Passed away maybe the more Popular VA's from the last Decade (Example: For Starscream Steven Blum or Sam Riegel) -Don't Change the Designs that much just adjust them to the Animation Style -Establish some Characters Earlier like the 86 Cast and don't throw them in randomly -Make Fights as Brutal as Possible -Connect Everything, like do Season 1 and 2 one thing and 86 as like the Second Season and then Post 86 a Third and Final Season -Improve the Plot of the Original Third Season That would be my Basic Idea for a G1 Remake doesn't need to happen but would be cool

They probably thought more about cutting costs on animation, hence they primarily used AKOM for season 3 and The Rebirth.

Brawn and Skyfire were the heroes in this 3-part series. Brawn despite being a smaller bot managed to take out Soundwave and 3 other larger bots while Skyfire took out the lasers and bested Shockwave in a one-one fight.

God, I remember the whole Sparkplug being brainwashed thing and how gratifying it was to see him and Spike reunited at the end. One of G1's greatest payoffs/moments.

That intro fight sequence alone was worth the price of admission. The amount of amazing looking keyframe and poses in this episode was off the chain!
I had this episode on VHS back in the day. They cut it down to 60 mins though, so lot's of stuff was missing from that version. Thanks hasbro pulse for putting these up! Season 2 next please!
VHS AND DVD IS FINE TO ME, EVEN trimmed into 60 minutes is fine to me.

Ya know i didn't grew up with G1 but its really Awesome to watch it after so many Years hearing many things about it
My First Encounter with TF was actually the 2007 Bayverse Movie but Animated kept me in this Franchise and Prime was the Time i was really Invested in it so TFP is my G1.
I fell in Love with it and its my Favourite Franchise to this very day. Yeah G1 didn't Age that well Especially compared to the Other Shows...but i have my Fun with it and seeing how these Classic Characters Started out is very interesting and shows how much TransFormers as a whole has grown...
Though we had a lot of G1 stuff in the WFC Trilogy Toy Line and Show i would actually Love a Remake of G1
-Animation from the WFC Trilogy or Prime
-More Fleshed out Characters
-A bit more Complicated Plot but keep as much from the Original as Possible
-Try to get most of the OG Voice Actors, for those who sadly Passed away maybe the more Popular VA's from the last Decade
(Example: For Starscream Steven Blum or Sam Riegel)
-Don't Change the Designs that much just adjust them to the Animation Style
-Establish some Characters Earlier like the 86 Cast and don't throw them in randomly
-Make Fights as Brutal as Possible
-Connect Everything, like do Season 1 and 2 one thing and 86 as like the Second Season and then Post 86 a Third and Final Season
-Improve the Plot of the Original Third Season
That would be my Basic Idea for a G1 Remake doesn't need to happen but would be cool

Love how a blast so powerful, it could launch Cybertron out of orbit still isn't enough to destroy Megatron point blank.
The plot armor was something else in this show compared to the movie.

Never thought about it before, but seeing Wheeljack and Bumblebee together on Cybertron in their earthen vehicular modes, reminded me of their first appearance in the first episode, when they were in their original Cybertronian modes.
Is it just me or does this group of episodes seem like a good plot for a classic DooM WAD? (Ironically, this is called The Ultimate Doom.)
