I used the Godox V1 Pro N for Nikon, the Godox X-Pro II N and the 24” Angler Softbox for this shoot. Shot on the Nikon Zf with the Nikon Z 50mm f/1.8 S lens. Favorite Gear: www.amazon.com...
I have the same thing with the V860III - which is superior to the V1, except light fall off - and it underexposes around 1.5 stop when bouncing. It tried to use it to replace my SB-910 but eventually went for a SB-5000 at a really good price.
Hello -- I own an "old" flash from the German company Metz (which doesn´t exist anymore unfortunately) that also had a secondary "kicker" flash built into it. I allways liked this feature very much since I could bounce the flash and still have that highlight in the eyes.
The big problem is that the interface on the V1 Pro is outdated, and the control wheels/dials are horrible. For about the same price as the V1 Pro I got the Neewer Z2, the C3 off camera flash (same specs as the AD200 Pro), the Q-Pro trigger and an accessories pack. All of that for the price of the V1 Pro, winning!
@@kaskoPhoto I think Neewer will release something similar very soon. What I don't understand is why didn't Godox put that great new interface which is on the Nano remote onto their brand new V1 Pro? Why keep the old crappy interface and not update it to the likes of Profoto, Neewer, Westcott, etc.? Such a bad move by them.
@@jspau I think it’s a money thing, trying to keep the price low as they can on the V1. their flash if they are using them off camera. I usually only interact with my remote.
Great Video!! debating if I should update my current V1's with these. Sucks because I just got a 2nd v1 in early January but I would have waited for the new one if I knew it was coming out!
I noticed you used the Nikkor 50mm 1.8. I do own the z 40 f2 which is great but would like something sharper and still autofocus and would like to hear what you thought of the Nikkor Z50mm 1.8.
The Godox XPro II for Leica didn’t work in TTL mode on my Leica digital CL, M11, or SL2. In addition, in manual mode, the minimal flash power the trigger lists is 1/128, even though my Godox V1N can go as low as 1/256. Since then, I got a free Leica SF 40 flash as part of a promotion. It’s a small unit, and is perfect for use on the digital CL or M11. I subsequently picked up the Leica SF C1 remote trigger, which. Will control a more powerful (and more bulky) Leica SF 60 flash (on order). The SF 40 can’t be triggered wirelessly, but it can be triggered by the SF 60 (or any other flash unit), hence it could also be used if I need two flash units in a shoot.
@@kaskoPhoto I don’t understand how to update the firmware on Godox XPro II for Leica trigger. The Godox website wasn’t particularly intuitive when I browsed it. If you’ve figured out how to download a bug-free program that works on a Mac, please let me know. I was in China in December. I should have brought the trigger with me and asked my colleagues to help navigate Godox’s web pages! Next trip.
Nice one, a few questions come to mind. How long did your battery last and is there anyway in studio to have it "plugged in" or continuously charing the battery? Or are the batteries only charge externally? I don't think you mentioned battery life? Also High sync options would be nice to know.
I'm sorry but how is it worth an upgrade? Sure, better colour, but it's 0.5 seconds in post to fix the slight hue. Is it worth 150€ extra? Nothing here shows it is worth that, honestly.
Using a strobe that has a color shift with other strobes that don’t (or have a different color shift) is a very big deal. Post processing to fix a problem that is built into your equipment- that’s a problem for me.
@@kaskoPhoto sure, but the V1 was never meant to be a "studio setup" strobe: for multi strobe work you should buy an AD200, which is also cheaper than a V1 Pro, that's why I think it's not worth it for event shoots the V1 is just fine, for studio shoots an AD200 is a better value, you're almost into AD200 Pro territory too. I just don't see it.
Stop it!!! Stop equipment reviews, please! 😉 You already made me order Sony 28 whatever, and it seems I'll keep Zf, even though I wanted nothing to do with NIkon 😂(I already had GFX, Sony and Leica/Panasonic) I guess you shall take this as a compliment - I don't easily listen to other reviewers, there is something genuine about your opinions...
It wasn’t a review! 😂 Honestly I didn’t expect to like the flash. But when I saw they were releasing that little remote I really wanted to try it. The flash came before the remote so I figured I would TRY (not review) it. And damn it, it’s good. Sorry. But that Sony 28 is really nice, right?
For me nope not worth it. The version one is around half the price, love mine and corrected the colour with a gel. The USB-C charging is nice but not an upgrade reason. I believe the new battery can be used on the older units so i will buy those going forwards if any need to be replaced.

Great information, great collaboration
Lots of your videos inspired me to buy the profoto a2. Absolutely loving it.
I use the A2 so much in my daily work
We love you for your famous words John ".......it just works". He, He!
😂😂 well it does
Nice to see a real life review. Thanks. Great images and model BTW
Hi John, I have always found that the TTL with the Godox V1 and AD100's was off by at least a stop, so I just use manual now.

Very clean. Just got this. More than enough for anyone
It really is a nice upgrade. (Color correction alone).

Remove the add on mini flash and TTL works fine. Also check the TTL/m switch on the side of the flash.
I will give that a try

I would love to see a comparison of skin tones between the Godox and Sony flash on the same model. Curious if the colors are a lot different.
I can say that the Godox is a bit cooler with a very slight green cast.
