      Haha, careful there mate, not everything I try works, or is even sensible 🤣 but if you don't try you won't know. If things aren't working you've not lost anything by giving something a go no matter how daft it might seem!

    A few years ago I heid the Welsh shore caught record for a starry smothhound I think it was about 9 pounds caught it off Anglesey on pealer crab it was short lived another angler top it three days later with one over ten pounds down south you do some great blogs I enjoy them I'm 73 now but I used to do a lot of sea fishing before I got married mainly bass fishing round Anglesey and up and down the Conway River born and grew up there miss the fishing life took over keep the blogs coming and put back the small bass

      Aww, thanks mate, that means a lot! I think to officially hold a record, you need to catch and keep. And any fish that impressive I'd want to see swim away! I'm hoping to fish the Conway River over Xmas as I head back over to Anglesey to see if I can find some of the spots I fished as a kid

      Hope you enjoyed it! Possibly my favourite session from last year. Complete chaos, making something up on the fly, and resulting in the target species!
      I'll be back down again soon 👍🏼

    That tide in the Bristol Channel is one of the quickest around. My father was one of the digger drivers who was on the M4 bridge and he said once the tide turned they had 7 minutes to get out with the diggers or get stranded

    Congratulations on your first hound. Not good to hold them from there tail as they cough up there stomach as this one did. If this happens just poke it back in and shake the shark head upwards and they swallow it. I found this out as it happens but by doing this it gives it the best chance. Congratulations again. Just seen you talking about shark stomachs but more angler can do better it is for the fish.

    Where your fishing holds the British cod record caught by brandon of 43lbs back in the 70s

    • @theawfulangler
      @theawfulangler  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's incredible, I didn't know that! I assumed that would be up north somewhere. I never had Wales pegged as a cod destination.

    Aw , nice one. What was the purple thing hanging ouf of the fishes mouth? Best regards. PS I'd rather have my toe nails pulled out with mole grips than watch love island ! 😫 Apologies; I watched on a bit and you explained about them turning their stomachs out to expel foreign bodies, or something, , , it'll be alright though eh?

    • @theawfulangler
      @theawfulangler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey John! Yeah, it's called stomach eversion. It's a sharks way of clearing its stomach of indigestible bits or things that it thinks is causing it harm.
      But yeah they're well practised at puking them up and swallowing them again.
