Your line about children’s view of the universe reminds me of what death said about belief in Terry Prachert’s Hogfather. That justice, mercy, and duty were lies. But humans must believe in them so it can exist.
I like the saying being an adult is like this we don't know what were doing we are all scared and are just trying to get through life and help the kids have a better life than we did.
I can't begin to describe how much I love your content. As someone who's studied philosophy, to have someone take existentialism and apply it so perfectly to something as wonderful as The Owl House and have it be so seemless, so on point is just breathtaking. Thank you so much. Don't stop what you're doing!
I can't thank you enough for your kind comments. It's easy to get discouraged with this hobby, but your encouraging words have helped me through several slumps this past year.
@Jenny Cook wow, thank you! Seriously, your videos are so good. ANYONE can put out the same banal takes on things. When it comes to content regarding popular shows, TH-cam is filled with mostly two things, contrarians or sycophants. There's so few interesting takes on things, I mean, doing an existentialist breakdown of the characters of TOH?!? Chef's kiss. I really liked your video with "Dead End: Paranormal Park" is amazing as well. You have a voice, and your content is genuine and refreshing. Don't get down. I've friends who started out blogging and doing videos that make a very good living doing it. When I asked them what they did to get to where they are, they've all pretty much said the same thing. Get used to no one caring what you're doing for some time. But if your content is good, just keep at it. You'll catch on eventually.
15:53 oh, oh hi tears, when did you get here? Oh it’s Mother’s Day tomorrow and you’ve finally truly understood how much your mom loves and cares for you despite who you are? Cool, cool-
Hey you know what other shows I would to see you cover? “Star Wars: Clone Wars” and/or “The Ghost and Molly McGee” (particularly all the class themes in “Molly McGee”).
i'm genuinely in awe of your essays. every video leaves me with lingering thought and provokes new ideas that makes me not only want to do better in life but be content with where i've come. i've personally struggled with constant comparison with others and your videos have been helping me see life through a new lens. tysm, i'm so excited to see your channel grow. in the best way possible, you're actually insane.
Congrats on 1000K! I'm so grateful to have found your channel. Your analysis is so thoughtful and brings even greater depth and warmth to these shows. I loved the Owl House and watching your videos and understanding the characters even more brought another tear to my eye. I also really appreciate the existentialist lens, it was definitely something I needed to hear today. Thank you for what you do!
You mixed two of my favorite topic in one video! This video was so great and I can't express how much I needed this today 😭 I recently had been contemplating a poorly made decision that I believed would decide my adulthood, and your video really really made me feel less awful, thank you so much 😭😭
Yep! I stumbled across the show in February of 2020 and immediately fell in love with it. “The Intruder” was the first episode I saw, and “Lost in Language” was the first episode I watched air live.
You "suffered" through five seasons of Joyce? Are you serious? You need to re-evaluate her as a character. When she finally learned that Buffy was a slayer, she had just watched a vampire attack her only (then) daughter & the also the word slayer says that her daughter has been out killing things. Why would she immediately embrace that about Buffy? Do you really think that you'd be super supportive right off of hearing the news that your own child was clearly put in dangerous situations on a regular basis? No. You'd also react more like Joyce than you would Camila. Joyce got better over time accepting Buffy's job as the slayer & even managed to have a friendship with a vampire - Spike. Joyce even acknowledged that she wasn't perfect once Buffy returned in season 3. So I really don't understand anyone who claims to have "suffered" through 5 seasons of Joyce, especially when she was barely around in season 4, not that she had a lot of episodes she was in before then. It's extremely unfair to Joyce to compare her to Camilla.
Your descriptor of Lilith is so painfully relatable... from a literal cult survivor. Also, yay! Buffy and Owl House. I love it.
Fun fact: The Puritans were devout Calvinists and they believed very firmly that God predetermined who was Saved/Elect and Damned/Reprobate.

Actually learned more about philosophy here than my actual philosophy class
“My rocks are anxiety and depression”. Same.

4:17 Sidebar question, by the way: Were you watching the show at the time “Agony of a Witch” first aired?
