  • If you have a loved one in the nursing home (or could soon), you should listen to this episode. Tim gives some words of caution and also identifies some opportunities that could help you get the care you need - without going broke in the process.
You should think of an admission to a nursing home as a legal problem. If any other creditor was coming after you for over $11,000 per month, you'd probably call a lawyer. The nursing home situation is no different. These laws are complicated.
Listen to this episode to find out how the process really works.

My aunt. Finally got guardian/ conservator for her. It was too much and the cognitive damage and memory deficits are difficult. Has a awful history of booze ect. Anyway, she was difficult before and now it's still difficult. Yes all the complicated paperwork and figure out what to do and not to do. Bad on my health from the stress. I'm glad to have court appointment to handle it all. Yes. Get a lawyer when you see how complicated it is and your loved one has lost ability to understand simple things ect. Sad but you need help to make sure you do things correctly and legally. She is at skilled care now. But her mobility is pretty good. Hopefully she can get a different environment. I'm scared they may send her home. She is a danger to herself and others really and always has been. That scares the he'll out me.
