  • Being judged or misunderstood because of your condition can be very common for those living with a non-visible disability. In fact, 65% of neurodivergent people say they've had assumptions and judgements made about their disability throughout their lives. 37% of workers haven't told their employer about their condition with two thirds of UK neurodivergent employees fearing discrimination at work. Christine has revealed that she is petrified of dating and would have to share her condition with her date as they may question her eating habits. Denise feels that if she was looking for a job she probably wouldn't share her condition with the employer. We’ll also be joined by an expert who will be giving her advice on how to talk to your boss about non-visible health conditions.

About ten years ago now I was diagnosed with two separate autoimmune diseases. Because of them I also suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome. There are still relatives that say terrible things about me and how lazy I am. I have literally laid in my bed for eight hours waiting for my husband to get home from work to help me to the bathroom. That’s very very rare but it can happen. People don’t care. Even people who are supposed to love and support you don’t care. They can’t see it so it must not be real. Not everyone of course. But there are some. Thank goodness for my husband who has supported me 1000% the entire time.

I have severe hearing loss but because my deafness is post-lingual I don’t have speech impediment. And I’m only 35 so I’m not even of an age people might suspect I have hearing loss. It’s so annoying.

The Dr who told us about neurodiversity is great! She's so confident and sees the strengths in her neurodiversity. It will hopefully help to encourage other people to feel more empowered 😀
