Another great video on an interesting product. I am glad to see I am not alone in finding that AR tube amps lean towards a SS like sound versus amps that gives you the classic "TUBE Sound" Say , something like the Cary CAD-805RS. I also am a big fan of the McIntosh 275,, albeit a little closer than AR. I find they do not fully embrace that sough after tube character either. To my ears they lean towards having that classic Mac sound.
G'day guys it's Shane from Australia great video. Very interesting comments about how the amplifier is able to elevate a certain speaker to a new level. I have experienced this as well with various amplifier and speaker combinations over the years. So found myself agreeing while nodding of my head.😁👍🎧
Gentlemen! Of the good life! I really enjoy your videos; love the interaction between you guys, and i get more enthousiastic qua audio, you really bring it alive. Kinda miss Jay...friendly dude, enjoyed Vilip screwing with him. (EARTHY..AUTHENTIC....WOEHAHAHAA) Keep up the good work, stay healthy greetings from Arnhem, Holland Ps; i would love some first hand pro-info straight up about electrostats? I have a bad reflecting room....
Electrostatic speakers are dipoles - there is as much sound to the rear as to the front. Panel should be at least 1m (3 ft.) from the wall - double the distance would be more ideal.
Another interesting video about a tube amplifier. It seems as though there are two distinct trends in the reviews that I'm watching - affordable, low-powered Chinese integrated amplifiers that have grade mid range sound when paired with high sensitivity speakers. - more expensive, high powered European and American tube based power amplifiers that can drive a wider range of speakers. I'm wondering how different/similar these sound? I know this is a big, general question - can anyone shed any light?
They're not really comparable - mostly in terms of resolution and stability. You would hear it instantly. But all-in-all, the Cayins of the world would lure you into the rabbit hole...
For a less renowned company their pricing is ambitious. The brands you mentioned are known to be among the most expensive ones. One could say for McIntosh you pay quiet a bit for the name alone (congrats to McIntosh for being that successful). Me I would not think twice and go for the McIntosh when comparable amps from both companies cost about the same. If you could buy a Porsche or a car with similar specs from a less know company for the same price what would you buy ? Exactly that why there is no competition for Porsche in their price segment. If someone wants to get a peace of the cake they have to be as good and ask less.
Italy is full of micro brands doing good sounding amp like that each one all of them sounding way better than Macintosh. People there jokes about Macintosh and how expensive get a non sounding a piece of crap can get. Wanna really be blown away.. get an amp from Angstrom Audio from Italy. The level there is on par with Audio Note at a fraction of the Ongaku price.
Another vid from the best channel. Yes I have something to look forward to after a long days work!

Jay has his own channel but yes, the trio was the most entertaining. They should reunite at least for some reviews.
