- A few potential favorites might be going away, but I'm really liking the new organization and line up of Salomon trail shoes for 2025! What do you all think of these updates?

Glad they are keeping the SLAB Genesis in the line. Love that shoe!
It's amazing how many years they've produced it without any changes, and at this point, I kind of admire them for that! haha
I hope this is the year Salomon returns to the game again! It feels to me like they lagged behind a bit on all the innovations of the last 2-3 years. Looks like they might be catching up again, exciting!
I agree, it felt like they were starting to lag behind, but I'm hopeful after seeing these updates!
Ran in my non-pro Pulsars today. I tried the Thundercross in-store and didn’t love them, but wanted something a little more than the sense-ride which I’ve always liked. I’m a fan, so I’m glad they’re bringing it back. Most trails I can get to in sub 2.5 hr drive are mountain bike designed trails. Has worked well for me so far.
S/Lab Ultra Glide looks promising, though I'm not convinced on the dimples. Look forward to your review. $250 is too steep though, hopefully these will be on clearance on their website later in the year.
Yeah that price point is getting very competitive and these are going to have to be really damn awesome to even consider
All we really want is the sense pro 4 back!!!
Really good they consolidating. Great move getting rid of ride series, these shoes were lifeless. Versitale but boring, heavy and no rebound whatsoever. Make em bouncy, lighter, sprinkle some breathability and I'll maybe try them again.
I found the ride series good for hiking because they didn’t have any noticeable rebound. Solid shoes for hiking, running on the other hand not my favourite, felt very dead
I bought some Genesis cause of Fin's raving of the shoe. And I'm now also a fan. Did a 170km race in them. A few small blisters, but nothing serious. Which is a decent outcome in a technical miler I think.
That's awesome to hear!
I heard somewhere that the s/lab pulsar is created in colab with Remi Bonnet! He knows how to run fast on technical trails!:-) I’m personally more interested in both others shoes you talk about!
The pulsar reminds me of the structure/style of the S/lab Ultra
Could be a good thing!
"Shortneys" 😂💪🏼
Thanks for all the great reviews and updates. Did they say when the new Courtney D color on the S/Lab was coming out.
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately I didn't get a release date for the Courtney shoe
did you see the ultra glide 3 non slab version ?
I didn't get to see that one. I don't think they had any out on display. Seen a few pictures floating around online and it really looks like 90% of the s/lab ultra glide
Can you tell if the Genesis line will stay?
Did they actually discontinue the S/LAB Speed Cross shoes? Or are they going to be made more available coming up? It is tough to find a really good winter running shoe that can go in Canadian winters at the worst. The S/LAB speed cross was good for that (my Nike tail shoes aren't as good in the snow storm conditions but great on all other conditions.)
That's a great question and unfortunately, I do not know the answer to that. There wasn't any mention of an s/lab speed cross when I was at the Salomon booth
There is still a gap in their lineup: A Sense Pro 5 is missing.
jsut when Salomon look like they were getting it right (wider shoe, better upper etc ) Merrell is overtaking outo of the blue.
MTL Adapt Matryx seems to be 100% spot on IF there was a gaitor. They should listen to Finn!
A trailshoe without a gaitor is just a roadshoe with extra grip.
Saloman should update their lasts, pretty sure everyone is running with shoes which are too narrow.
There's a time and place for a shoe with a gaiter, but I certainly don't want one on every single run I go on. I enjoy the competition from these brands, but I also don't want them all turning into the same thing, so I'm not sure if I want to see all Salomons get significantly wider

Shoe without gaitors are always slower.
There is a risk you have to stop, take them off, get the pebbles out.. The chance you have to stop already makes it a slower shoe. Cant afford to kill the feet if you have a long way home
Wet trails, dry trails, dusty trails, rocky trails, loose rocks, pebbles.
All joking aside, I see no reason not to have a gaitor like on the X 3. Super comfortable, no rubbing, better than any other trail shoe.
With a Matryx/like upper, there hardly is extra weight. It's like a seatbelt, no downside and you dont feel it
What would be your a reason you'd not want it?
@@berry5954 Little extra breathability, not having to wear a high sock and a few g of weight savings. Not having a gaiter built in also allows for the shape of the heel cup and ankle collar to be more comfortable for some. A gaiter that doesn't exist will 100% hold less water than any gaiter that exists as well 😉
@@ConversationalPace it is as if you're speaking a different language ;-) who would not want to cover the Achilles during a trail run. With good socks (rockay) I'd not care a second about a wet gaitor, wouldnt feel it.
I keep learning something new every day!
Salomon Voodo as they had on some apparel now in shoes?
I am pretty disappointed seeing the anti debree collar and one piece upper being ditched 😢
Also Salomon doesn't seem to have any minimalistic lightweight shoes anymore.
Yeah this is the first time in a while they aren't going to have an ultra lightweight, minimal trail racer. I guess I will default to Merrell for that one now
What's up with the Pulsar Trail Pro 3? Have seen lots of photos of the prototype, figured it would be coming this winter/spring
I didn't hear any mention of a Pulsar Trail Pro 3! Not sure if they're still working on it or it got canceled. Hopefully they're still working on an update!
Slab puluser should be the lightest and fastest shoes, but I hear that slab pulser4 is over 200g. This is not the one.
What about the PULSAR TRAIL PRO 3
Slab ultra looks gorgeous but yikes $$$$
Why is nobody showing the white SLab Genesis looking shoe that's on the wall?
That's Courtney's shoe
No, I think he is talking about another white pair on the wall, the color way is different from the ones you show in this video
The white shoes on the wall are most likely slab phantasm & spectur.
new colourway for the S/Lab Genesis, no major updates
Is the non-S/lab Ultra Glide sticking around for 2025?
Yes but will look like the Slab Ultra Glide
I have no idea what’s going on in here and at this point I’m too afraid to ask
Sidewalls bro!
What about new Slab Genesis? No new features? Only new colors
Yeah s/lab Genesis carries over for yet another year 😔 I feel like the s/lab ultra glide is in a way what the Genesis could have ended up being

@@ConversationalPace 100% - at least is an awesome shoe, but you still got some hope to see new stuff
Looks like it might have some drainage holes in the toe bumper 😮
The CW edition has extra drainage
Great breakdown!!!
Pretty bummed I’m gonna miss wearing the ultra glides for a race I have in January
Is the last one the pulsar trail pro 3?
In the video, the last shoe I showed is the Salomon Pulsar, which feels more like a cross between the sense ride and thundercross than an update to the old pulsar. I didn't hear anything about any Pulsar Trail Pro update
Speaking of, any news on a new S/Lab Ultra 4?
I didn't hear anything. Would be awesome to see an update to that!
not within the next 2 years
Really disappointing. S/LAB line feels so generic and cheap now. No upper collar and the S/LAB Pulsar looks gigantic. Bad news.
They did say the production s/lab pulsar 4 will be a little thinner than what I showed, but yes, it does gain a little more stack from the 3.
@ looks much more like a direct follow up to the Ultra 3. Super strange to me. Hopefully at some point there will be something more low profile. But I'm one of the rare ones that miss the "hard ground" version of the Pulsar 1 and 2. Hard packed mountains and rocks... don't need big lugs. 🤷🏻♂️
