The good news is that other retailers have stated that books sell reasonably well in their stores. Hopefully, Costco is just a one off and not the start of a slippery slope. 🤞🏻
Sad to hear this! I rarely buy books from Costco these days because I have a million other places, but I used to love looking their book selection! I noticed it had gotten much smaller in recent years. (PS your vid was recommended to me & you did amazing with this video! Subscribed!)
Same here! I used to love browsing their book selection when I was younger and it was much bigger. It's sad that it's come to this. I'm so glad my video was recommended to you and that you enjoyed it! Thank you! 💜
That is honestly what I want people to focus on in all of this. Access to books seems to be getting taken away from readers and most of those readers are kids. It's why programs like Head Start and Imagination Library are so important. Thank you for watching! 💜
Sooo sad! I don't even know how it would feel to live in a book desert... it's a heartbreaking idea to me. I'd love to randomly post books to these areas if I knew where they are. I have. question though... does Costco require a membership to shop there for your country? In the Uk Costco requires a paid for membership and tend to be in areas that you can only get to with a car so would not impact areas of people that have less money. Great video... thanks for putting this together! It's so useful to have videos like this!
In researching this video was the first time I heard about book deserts and I agree it's incredibly sad. Costco does require memberships here as well, but the thing about book deserts is that they aren't necessarily in extremely poor areas. In looking at the map, it appears there are a lot of middle to lower-middle class areas that are affected too. So then removing Costco as an option could potentially be devastating (in terms of books) for those areas. Thank you for the kind words and for watching!💜
Interesting. I hope you are correct and that this is just a one off. A book desert is such a sad thing. Unfortunately, I do not have a ton of indie stores around me, but my library is fantastic and we do have a Barnes and Noble. Love this content witchy!
Same here! I would hate for more stores to follow Costco's lead. Book deserts are so depressing to think about and they are in areas that I hadn't even considered, such as certain areas of Los Angeles. I'm glad you liked the video, thank you for watching! 💜
