The Magnolia Bend section has certain rooms called Royal Guest Rooms, which are themed to the various Disney Princesses. Tiana is the main princess, as she is the hostess of the resort. Photos are available online, and you can see various royal touches from different animated films.

Port Orleans Riverside has princess theme rooms. The rooms are welcoming Tiana so all of her princess friends give her gifts so as you explore the rooms you can spot all the ‘gifts’ the princesses gave her. Some of my favourite rooms to stay in. So magical. I love how peaceful it is and fun fact, when I got back to the hotel one time I saw an armadillo 🤎 love Port Orleans Riverside!

Tim, thank you. This is one of my favorite places on Disney property. My husband and I renewed our wedding vows in that gazebo in the Magnolia area. This is the second largest resort in Disney World. I totally agree with all the comments--you can get lost in this place. It's a beautiful place to get lost, but you're still lost. 😁 Like a lot of these giant resorts, there's a lot of bus stops--5 here. From experience, this can be a problem, especially if your stop is one of the last on the route. You can often wait and wait, as buses come in full.
That's a minor quibble--the incredible theming and peaceful feel of this resort and it's companion the French Quarter make it my favorites of the Moderate resorts.
Some very good food options, and Disney Springs is a pretty boat ride away.

This video was perfect ❤ I’ve stayed at this resort twice and it’s my favourite too. It’s ruined the other resorts for me because they don’t compare. Staying at Riverside is like a holiday inside a holiday. It’s so calm and peaceful, there’s a lot of wildlife to spot. If you like birds it’s a great place for bird watching along the river. The cast members are great, they seem genuinely happy to be there and the people that stay there are great company. We met some amazing people who were also staying, people were really friendly, I mean you’re in Disney, life is good, people are happy ❤

We stayed here in 2017 and we LOVED it! It was our first ever WDW holiday from the UK. We loved the size (esp as we stayed at caribbean beach last year which is huge) and the relaxing boat ride into disney springs. The pace here is so relaxed, so homely, can't wait to visit again. The only downside (now) - no skyliner!

Back before the pandemic if you purchased something in the parks you could have it sent to your resort for pick up so you didn’t have to carry it around all day - the Packages area you showed at Fulton’s General Store is where you’d pick up your packages at the end of the day or next day if you were staying at POR. You also used to be able to ship stuff to your home from there.

We loved our stay at Riverside. Best room in my opinion is a princess themed pool view room in Oak Manor. Right across the bridge to the main building but a little far from the main pool, but the quiet pool was very nice and right outside our building. Other family members stayed in the Alligator Bayou section and complained about how confusing it was to find their way around. Watching this video brought back such good memories of our 2017 trip.

Hi Tim- We love Riverside and we opt to stay in the preferred rooms since the resort is so large. This usually puts us in building 14 in Alligator Bayou, so we are close to every where we need to go. Just something to consider if you love the feel of the resort but you are nervous about the size. Also, I believe the princess banners denote the royal rooms (themed rooms) in the Magnolia Bend section.

13:01 That device is a Cotton Press to make bales. There used to be a plaque somewhere on it describing it.
There are 3 styles of Bayou Lodges. They get more rustic the further you go from the main building, as does the scenery you’re walking thru. The “fancy” buildings are meant to represent Plantation Mansions and their neatly manicured lawns and landscaping. The Princess names are for the “Royal” rooms.

Riverside is my childhood resort! We used to go all the time and we’d always stay at riverside in the Alligator Bayou. My family actually had been staying there since it was Dixie Landings and we even still have a couple reusable mugs from the resort back then! Eventually we did start staying at French Quarter instead because everything was so much closer together it was easier for my great-grandma to get around, but we’d still take the boat down to riverside now and then to shop at the general store. Thanks for the great, in depth tour Tim and the wonderful editing Jenn!
