    i followed your directions. I put it on my watt meter and watch the receive meter on a different radio. plus I could listen to the difference on the receive radio. Im very happy.

    Weird someone else tested their Randy II and was getting like 12 watts on the bird when full modulating. Also you don't need test equipment for the modulation setting, someone else already figured out setting it to 85 does the trick.

    I like all the features this radio has compared to old handheld radios of the past. I went out and bought one of these president randy fcc radios. It's first time in thirty years I bought a new radio, something different in long time. I basically want it when on the highway for traffic reports from truck drivers. I see in owners manual it talks about the SWR antenna matching. If I am reading it correctly when using the rubber duck antenna that comes with the radio you don't have to worry about SWR.
    Is it only when using a mobile antenna on vehicle you then need to adjust SWR settings for the antenna your using.

      If you buy President magnetic antenna such as new Virginia it already comes adjusted, it depends on the antenna

    I'm hoping and waiting to see if the Randy III will be sold in the USA now that FM will be allowed on US CB radio.

    • @johnm4579
      @johnm4579 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree on FM it's about time usa dose it, it's long over due. I did buy Am randy FCC radio really to use it on the highway for traffic backups or break downs, or road closures because truck drivers always know whats going on with traffic. Maybe down the road I'd upgrade to new radio if president come out with AM/FM radio.

      Randy III is fm am radio that is sold primarily in Europe I believe and is not legal in US (the features that it has). Randy II FCC is the American fm version of the same radio

      I'm in the USA, and I was able to order the RANDY 3 from Amazon UK, no problem. Cost me a little more, but the car kit and CTCSS & DCS capability, is worth it to me. It doesn't have the weather option though. Impressed with all of these, enjoy.

    Awesome. Does it have a bnc connection on the antenna? I think this would be great to use with a magnet antenna in a spare vehicle. Also I wonder if they have any other antenna options? I have some older maxons and both are set for the same power and modulation however one has a rubber ducky with a coil load thats a few inches longer and that little difference in real life makes a bigger difference on how far they reach. I think years ago you could buy a telescopic metal antenna with a coil near the top and that made them work even better. I finally got AA 1.5 volt Lithium batteries in the maxons and they are way more usable then the older rechargable batteries. I was going to order one of these but I was not sure if they could put out decent power and modulation or be adjusted. I like it will do 4 watts and has a tiny upswing with modulation.

    Very confusing about the AM modulation... You said go down on the menu to increase the modulation, then went down to a higher number? That doesn't make a lot of sense... Would that have done the same thing if you went UP to a higher number instead of down? Also you certainly didn't show "everything" there are many other settings...
